Has anyone heard if the rumor that Holy Resurrection Monastery is moving to Wisconsin? I haven’t been able to get in touch with Abbot Nicholas to confirm.
Haven’t seen anything on the web site yet, it was being discussed at DL yesterday and thought I’d see if anyone knew anything. I’ll keep trying to get in touch with Abbot Nicholas or 1 of the other monks.Does their website mention anything?
The monks tell me there will be an announcement on the web site today or tomorrow. As I recall the arrangement at Valyermo was only temporary, that they were welcomed as guests of the Benedictines for a few years.
Yes. I was told this recently by someone close to them. I have seen nothing on their website, nor on the monk’s Facebook pages.Has anyone heard if the rumor that Holy Resurrection Monastery is moving to Wisconsin? I haven’t been able to get in touch with Abbot Nicholas to confirm.
What I recall is they sold their monastery to the Coptic monks and then the funding for the place they planned to move to in New Jersey suddenly fell through. That was when they were invited to Valyermo. I doubt they would be moving if it wasn’t a better location for their goals. I’m sure they will be posting about it and then we will know the story. As I recall the arrangement at Valyermo was only temporary, that they were welcomed as guests of the Benedictines for a few years.
It was you who told me!Ssshhhh … it’s a secret (for the moment) …![]()

Right on! Another great Latin Shepherd in support of our Eastern Catholic Churches. We have already received several expressions of good will and welcome from local Catholics, including the local parish priest, and Bishop David Ricken of Green Bay, WI, within whose diocesan territory this property lies. Bishop Ricken recently met with Abbot Nicholas and expressed his keen interest in helping the community move to and get established in Green Bay Diocese. Bishop Ricken indicated that he is very interested in involving our monastery in the catechetical and adult formation programs of the diocese.

Now my big question…should the wife and I move to Wisconsin?Fr. Maximos!!!
I don’t know if you remember me, but I used to work for Jack Figel. Come join our Jesus Prayer group here at CAF. We’d love to have your presence, words of wisdom, direction, etc. Perhaps you can be our spiritual patron.

I admit that I’ve been thinking of this myself. Now my big question…should the wife and I move to Wisconsin?
One nice thing about being retired!I admit that I’ve been thinking of this myself. If there is a job that I could work I’d be there in a heartbeat!
I’m not in Wisconsin, but I’m close enough. Methinks a road trip is a brewing! Now to just find some people who want to go to a monastery…Now my big question…should the wife and I move to Wisconsin?
