There is a lot of anti-Catholicsm out there. It’s starting to show on right wing radio.

Rush today, saying he wasn’t being anti-Catholic, spent an hour on a extremely negative article about the hierarchy written by Raye of Hillsdale College - it’s on Richochet.com.Raye says the church teaches socialism and not Christianity. It’s very over-the-top piece which is being played up on right wing radio today.

George Will was critical of the church yesterday on the Sunday shows.

Anyway, the right seems to see the hierachy as an extension of the Democrative Party.

There might be less anti-Catholic sentiment if the church leaders didn’t make it so easy.

When many of the flock are lost, is it the fault of the sheep or the shepherd?

Thanks for fixing it.

I initially didn’t want to post it because I didn’t want to seem like a troll.

I now see the ricochet.com article is not the same one from the OP.
It’s different and the one Rush and other right wing hosts are spending a lot of time.

Not surprisingly Rush has to throw in the prieslty abuse scandal. He is really attacking Bernadin based on the article.

Just read the article, very interesting. Just enforces the idea that I follow Jesus and the Catholic faith not the Catholic Church. The Catholic faith is the beautiful word of God given to us to live in. The Church like any other man led organization can be corrupted. We must look to the love of the Lord to sustain our church not the power of men.

But how does that work? On another thread it was said that anyone who refused to agree and accept everything our leaders say “isn’t really Catholic”. On another thread so called “liberal Catholics” are taking quite a beating.

But again I ask…

When many of the flock are lost, is it the fault of the sheep or the shepherd?

If the Shepherd is God it is the fault of the Sheep.

As the other poster said, we are human and thus not perfect. There will be rifts in the church it has happened throughout our history but the focus has to always be on Christ. When we do this nothing else matters because he will guide us through.

The shepherd. That’s the whole point, isn’t it?

What did Jesus say? ‘My sheep know my voice’. And where is that voice to be heard? He said to the Apostles (is the hierarchy of the Church) ‘who hears you hears Me, who rejects you rejects Me’.

So those who do not heed His voice are not His sheep. As for being lost - well when Our Lord was preaching and teaching did not many fail to listen? And even walk away from Him? Was that His fault? He was the shepherd, after all. 🤷

If the Shepherd is God it is the fault of the Sheep.

The priests and the bishops are the earthly shepherds, charged by Jesus to “feed my sheep”, not behave so badly over and over again until you drive most of them over a cliff.

I love Catholicism, but I am disappointed in the Church

I think it is not my place to speak for all Catholics just me. If someone doesn’t think I am “Catholic” enough because I don’t believe everything a clergy person says that is ok by me. I do not answer to those people or the Church. I answer to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I am Catholic because I believe in the faith past down to us by Christ through Peter, not because I bow to the Church.
