our new prime minister wants to legalize it
now, all morality aside, I think this is an extremely bad idea. do we really need more available substances to decreases peoples’ brain activity floating around?
but is recreational pot use actually immoral? because the argument goes, that it would be similar to alcohol or tobacco, which the church does not teach against if used moderately.
the proponents say that smoking a joint, for example, would be similar to having a cigaretteor a glass of wine after work.
so, in light of church teaching, is there anything to counter this?
also, on a slightly related topic, should their be stricter alcohol laws? because the culture surrounding drinking is also pretty out of control.
I personally don’t drink, mainly because I find alcohol disgusting (yes, I have to apologize to Jesus when I take the precious blood) but also I guess because I’m afraid of crossing a line, I know getting drunk is a sin but how do you know how much is too much if you’ve never done it before?
