More "woke" brainwashing before and during Toy Story 4

It certainly is. And it’s completely infiltrated children’s literature as well. Soft porn being marketed to kids as young as 11 or 12 under the guise of “young adult fiction.” 😡

Well, it won’t be coming into the classroom at my new school. I’ll be working closely with the principal to ensure that. The middle schoolers will be reading classics for the most part. The only contemporary works will be those we’ve carefully vetted.

I sincerely wish you well.

“My wife and I have religious beliefs that say to us it’s a sin,” David Parker said. He’s referring to four pages in a book his 5-year-old son was given by his Massachusetts kindergarten teachers.

The book “Who’s In a Family” – included in a “diversity book bag” for students at Estabrook Elementary School – is about all kinds of families, including multi-racial, single parent and, to Parker’s chagrin, same-sex parents.

There are two main issues in this controversy, which are being debated far beyond the Estabrook school: Is teaching kids about gays and lesbians tolerance or propaganda? And how much control do parents have over what their children are taught?

In several conversations by phone, mail and e-mail, Parker asked teachers and officials at the school to notify him any time the subject of homosexuality was discussed in class.

“When affirmation and normalization of these lifestyles come up, parents want to know about [it] and have the option to opt out,” he said.

Dr. Paul Ash, superintendent of Lexington Public Schools, said the school tried to be accommodating.

“The school department said, ‘Look, we’ll work with you, but we cannot assure you what a child is going to say and that we can immediately stop a discussion that you find objectionable,’” said Ash. “One of the central units in kindergarten is the discussion of families and we show families of all different types.” Ash says the discussions “ended up in an irreconcilable difference.”

After one meeting in April, Parker refused to leave the school without that assurance. He was arrested and, after refusing to post the $40 bail, he spent the night in jail.

The school board then obtained a restraining order to keep him off school property.

Fortunately I’m getting out of public schools this fall and will be teaching middle school English and Religion at a Catholic school. 📿
If marriage and family come up, the kids will be learning God’s truth, not contemporary diabolical lies.

It’s being gradually forced in. GLAAD is watching, that’s for sure.
And none of that goes against what I said. Sure, GLAAD has an agenda, but it may be no more nefarious than making sure LGBT characters are presented fairly (note I didn’t say “perfect”) and that writers don’t have to feel the need to censor themselves if that’s a story that they want to tell. Whatever their motive, though, that has little bearing on the writers.
As some have posted here, they don’t want such material.
Fine. That’s their preference, but it has no bearing on the motivation of the writers.
Considering that they count The Incredibles, Finding Nemo, and Spiderman to be “Christian”, I don’t really consider their numbers that reliable. Heck, even the Lord of the Rings movies mentioned were kind of noteworthy for stripping a lot of the overtly Christian themes out.

And all of that is before considering other factors like brand recognition.

Why is my topic closing in 18 hours? I thought they stayed open until there was no activity for two weeks?

Sometimes a timer is put, and this isn’t the first thread I’ve seen with one. My guess is that the mods have determined that this thread has run its course. To quote an earlier post:
This is a weird thread.
And it never got better. If anything, it got worse, given a brief period of some toxic posts. I’m actually shocked the thread wasn’t locked sooner.

Come on, you can’t be that blind and aloof to it.
Sorry Bob, I’m neither blind nor aloof. I don’t buy into the “tin foil hat” belief that Hollywood’s “after our kids”.
I mentioned that there were two pro-gay commercials before the movie, and then a lesbian “two mom” scene in the movie itself.
OK, without viewing the movie (and trailer) I’ll take your word. That took up what percentage of screen time (of the entire viewing experience)?
The US is about 23% Catholic, so if they really wanted to make money hand over fist, maybe include more Catholics in movies?
A) How do you know there weren’t Catholics in the movie? Did they need to make it more obvious to you in order for you to attend the movie? You went to see it (apparently without) any Catholics in it. Would you have been even more likely to see it if a rosary was noticeable in a scene? B ) If you want to talk stats; How many of the 23% would actually care if a gay couple were in the movie, and how many of that 23% do you think actually agreed with it.

My wife is Catholic and took 2 of our 3 boys to Toy Story 4 on Thursday. She didn’t even mention what you’re speaking of so obviously it didn’t register on her radar or she didn’t care…

I’ve only ever flagged one post on CAF, and it was somebody who had just created an account and was peppering the forums with completely bizarre statements.

Many on here just flag because something offends their sensibilities…it should be reserved for posts that are flagrant (vulgarities, personal violent attacks, inappropriate pictures, etc.).

Thanks for posting and keeping the conversation going even though we disagree.

Well I was being sarcastic. The point was, was if it were really about advertising and appealing to as many people as possible, why not appeal to 23% of the population instead of about 1% (if that?)?

Are you opposed to any movie or TV show that includes characters who are most likely in some kind of intimate relationship but aren’t married?

The actual rule is a bit more broad than that:
Messages posted to this board must be polite and free of personal attacks, threats, and incendiary, divisive, crude or sexually-explicit language.
- CAF Guidelines Conduct Rule 1

In other words, it’s not necessarily “violent” personal attacks, just personal attacks, and there’s also an expected level of politeness (e.g. no name calling).

Oh, yeah, and the divisive one can be really strict. I once got hit for posting an Alex Jones “turn the frogs gay” gif as a joke. I’m still bitter about that one. 😠

If it’s not intended for children, then I suppose that since this is a free country, that filmmakers have a right to create such characters and have them be portrayed in a perfectly positive light.

But frankly, such characters (in my opinion) ought to be used only for purposes such as these:
  • To show what is wrong with extramarital sex.
  • To teach a lesson about still being loving towards those who may be on the wrong path/wayward.
  • To tell a tale of tragedy, and show the sad situations that have arisen due to it.
    [/quote]
But since a lot of TV shows and movies are for entertainment, and some of them are comedies, it wouldn’t be very entertaining for most people for them to be turned into some sort of morality lesson would it? And since a lot of movie goers are in intimate relationships with their boy friends or girl friends or long-time partners and aren’t married, wouldn’t it be a turn off to them to have something like that in a movie? It probably wouldn’t be a very good business move for the makers of these movies and TV shows, either.

OK, I can go along with that. I can see that they are becoming more inclusive. I don’t see it as a bad thing, they’re people too and are also potential paying customers…
As a gay man, I certainly appreciate that movies and TV shows are becoming more inclusive by having some gay and lesbian characters in them. It makes for a more positive movie going experience when my partner and I go to the movies. I think that the makers of these movies and TV shows are motivated by a desire to make what they produce more appealing to LGBT people in their audiences and I think that most straight people don’t mind if it’s done in moderation.

I think most people are turned off by obvious preaching in general. Seamlessly working a message into the story (e.g. Zootopia) is one thing. Bizarre tales where everything seems fake for the purpose of an agenda (e.g. 99% of Christian movies) or anything where characters are breaking the fourth wall to preach to the audience (e.g. the Dear White People show) are a lot harder to enjoy. Both also count when characters seem to only exist for the sake of pandering, but that goes beyond preachiness into just generally sterile characters.

I don’t mind gay people in certain shows. I enjoy the gay characters in Modern Family, for instance. But I can’t help but roll my eyes when CW makes a character gay, because it’s clear that they’re pandering/trying to fill some sort of diversity quota rather than making good characters (with varied backgrounds).
