Will we all not become God-Like after death?
Anna, Iād like to know your story of how you ended up in the CoJCoLDS and what made you decide to leave and convert to the anglican church.
Iād rather not start a new thread.I think they should start a new thread and tell us about their experiences.
Anna or Steve, please let us know if you do.

Amen!Steve,
I remember. I quoted your post in the one I linked. It is truly amazing to me how the Holy Spirit can intervene in such a powerful way to help us discern what is evil and not of God.
Sometimes, we hear God in that āstill small voice.ā Other times, as in reading the Book of Mormon, we hear and feel it in both spirit and body. I praise God. He is always faithful to us.
Anna
Anna, I went back and read post #89 above. What a great thread that was and I was struck by what you wrote. Regarding the comment belowā¦and I hesitate to askā¦can you explain moreā¦I had not heard thisā¦until now. :frighten:
Thanks,I was never told that the Messiah was a polygamist.
Anna, thank you for taking the time to post links for us. I canāt begin to imagine how deceived you must have felt and rightfully so.Iād rather not start a new thread.
Steve: I had a similar experience. My Lds boss was pouring in on thick re: the glories of mormonism - I worked in this 95% mormon environment for 14 years. I listened to his missionary talk, walked to the doorway & heard a voice without my ears: Pepband Mom, go do your homework" !!! I did and never, ever looked back. I evidently had a āLOCUTIONā from either the Trinity or my guardian angel.Thereās really not a lot to tell. When I was in college I was visited by some Mormon missionaries and basically because I felt sorry for them I agreed to accept a copy of the Book of Mormon. Some friends had told me about some of the errors (Jesus being born in Jerusalem, for instance) it contained and so I decided, out of pure curiosity, to peruse it.
When I opened it I had this creepy, skin crawling feeling and started feeling nauseous. I only got through a couple of pages and the bad feelings turned from physical to spiritual. My inner voice told me to put it down and put it down now. It was a definite darkness. You might say I had the opposite experience of what LDS call the āburning in the bosomā.
Joseph Smith may very well have been visited by spiritual beings, but they were not from above.![]()

Itās quite fun to mess with those peopleā¦I saw an ad on Pandora Radio today for a mormon chat room which is available on the main mormon website.
I went ahead and visited to ask them some questions as well as try my hand at a bit of entry level apologeticās. I ended up talking to two different people, who were very nice, but every time I go to what I thought was a good question they said they would email me some more information and that they had to go. They also offered to schedule a time to chat more later.
My question is, do you think this is a good use of my (or anyoneās) time, going to their chat service and trying to lead them to the Church? I understand that if youāre not strong in your faith it might not be a good idea, but for those of us who are I mean.
Any insight is appreciated. Also, if you think it is a good idea, maybe include some good questions to ask them as soon as you connect since they donāt seem to want to chat for too long to any one person.
Thanks!
Yeah, its kind of like looking in the fridge and seeing something that you know you should not eat. It just has that look and smell. and it came to pass that I read the Book of Mormon. And it came to pass that I was confused by what I read. And It came to pass that I was increasingly confused because it was written in 1820s in the United States by an uneducated man allegedly translating from Reformed Egyptian. And it came to pass that what I read sounded just like the 1500s British English by Scholars translating from Latin and Hebrew. And it came to pass that to make it sound more Biblical, Joseph Smith did decide verily to pepper his book with a plethora of āit came to passā. And it came to pass that I simply could not take it anymore. And it came to pass that I put down said book and picked up the Bible. And it came to pass that I was comforted by the Bible and did become Catholic. And it came to pass that I passed on becoming Mormon a second time.Yeah, its kind of like looking in the fridge and seeing something that you know you should not eat. It just has that look and smell. What I looked at in the Book of Mormon made me gag.
wow! lol Thatās a lot of āit came to passes.ā Itās funny also because I thought the same thing, itās trying to sound like the bible, but itās not. Not even close.and it came to pass that I red the Book of Mormon. And it came to pass that I was confused by what I read. . . . .Celsus was a heathen philosopher; and what does he say upon the subject of Christ and his Apostles, and their belief? He says, āThe grand reason why the Gentiles and philosophers of his school persecuted Jesus Christ, was, because he had so many wives; there were Elizabeth, and Mary, and a host of others that followed him.ā After Jesus went from the stage of action, the Apostles followed the example of their master. For instance, John the beloved disciple, writes in his second Epistle, āUnto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth.ā Again, he says, āHaving many things to write unto you (or communicate), I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be

full.ā AgaināāThe children of thy elect sister greet thee.ā This ancient philosopher says they were both Johnās wives. Paul says, āMine answer to them that do examine me is this ā¦
Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas.ā He, according to Celsus, had a numerous train of wives.
**The grand reason of the burst of public sentiment in anathemas upon Christ and his disciples, causing his crucifixion, was evidently based upon polygamy, according to the testimony of the philosophers who rose in that age. A belief in the doctrine of a plurality of wives caused the persecution of Jesus and his followers. We might almost think they were āMormons.ā

. . . .If there were none but Latter-day Saints living in Utah, we should have no occasion to speak upon this subject as we do; but being infested by those āwho profess the pure morality of the religion of Jesus,ā such as the Charleston Mercury endorses and eulogizes, we are constrained to speak in great plainness. I will now leave this subject, knowing that he or she that is righteous will be righteous still; and they who are filthy will be filthy still.
I discover that some of the Eastern papers represent me as a great blasphemer, because **I said, in my lecture on Marriage, at our last Conference, that Jesus Christ was married at Cana of Galilee, that Mary, Martha, and others were his wives, and that he begat children. **
All that I have to say in reply to that charge is thisāthey worship a Savior that is too pure and holy to fulfil the commands of his Father. I worship one that is just pure and holy enough āto fulfil all righteousness;ā not only the righteous law of baptism, but the still more righteous and important law āto multiply and replenish the earth.ā Startle not at this! **For even the Father himself honored that law by coming down to Mary, without a natural body, and begetting a son; and if Jesus begat children, he only ādid that which he had seen his Father do.ā. . .

. . . .The Scripture says that He, the Lord, came walking in the Temple, with His train; I do not know who they were, unless His wives and children; but at any rate they filled the Temple, and how many there were who could not get into the Temple I cannot say. This is the account given by Isaiah, whether he told the truth or not I leave everybody to judge for himself⦠. . .

So true, Kathleen.Feelings and reactions here to Smithās words are not āburning in the bosom.ā
Rather, āwhere is the nearest EXIT door?!!!ā

Issa87,Thank you, Anna for sharing all of that information. It is scary what they believe! Poor things. I think I better pray for the conversion of those I was once friends with who are or were Mormon when I knew them.
