The Church lives by Christian principles, and always takes the led in apologizing if someone feels offended. But nowhere in the apology have they admitted to causing physical damage to property or severing the head of the statute. On the contrary, thay have stated that they do not know how it happened.

Also, you should make a distinction between “The Church” and the Mormon Church. I mean, there are a lot of people here from different religions. We already know you’re Mormon, but it CAN offend some people.

I am not familiar with the details of the case, but I am sure whatever it was it did not teke place with malidious intent. Vandalism requires malicious intent to be genuine vandalism. If they were just being stupid and were not aware that they might be offending someone, I do not call it vandalism.

Hmm… What was it I said a little earlier? Perhaps I was hasty when I said what I did in the first sentence. Well, I did say “nearly”.
First, I do not think that these men represent the actions that nearly any Mormon would publicly support.

Likewise, it would be absolutely wrong for a Catholic to desecrate a Mormon shrine.

But I would say that apologizing or giving a pass to these men would be wrong. If they were black gang-bangers, people would demand that they be strung up. If they had done this to a Jewish synagogue, this would have been national news with people screaming for life in prison without parole. But no, they and nice, white polite Mormon young men who had a momentary lapse of judgment. Riiiiiiiight.

Get a grip people. Their intent was evil. They should face the full penalty of their CRIME. Their race and religion may have motivated it, but that should have nothing to do with their just prosecution.

Does it state that in either article that was referenced? If not, where is it stated? Also, The Church did not do this; three foolish and immature young men/boys did this. As I understand it, the apology that was quoted was from the young men - not the church officially.

Yes, I quoted from the artice in post #55. Do you have problem with your eyes?

From the news report:
Robert Fotheringham, director of the LDS church’s missionary program in the region, said Sunday . . .

. . . that one of the other three had told him that when the trio arrived at the shrine, the head was in place on the statue.

Whether it had been knocked off by someone else and placed back on is hard to say,” he said.

A photo caption with a picture of a missionary holding the statue head on the Photobucket Web site that has been taken down since Thursday read: “Hannemann broke the head off of a saint.”**A caption under a photo in “photobucket” is not my measure of truthful reporting.

Yet the caption was written by one of the perpetrators. It makes more sense that they did this then denied it than to introduce yet another unknown vandal who this trio just happened to follow.

When I say “the Church,” it should be obvious to everyone that I am referring to my own Church. Why should anyone be “offended” at that? And why should I care if they are?

No need to be offensive, which you constantly are. And almost every religion believes their church is “The Church.”

Ever hear of the Mountain Meadows Massacre? 🤷

Where does it say that?

Even if that had been the case, it could have been intended as a prank, not to tell a true story. People are innocent until proved guilty, not the other way.

lol, no, they say “innocent until proven guilty” as a formality in the system. But in the court of public opinion, it is just plain “guilty.” No need to change a mind. Also, prank or no, it’s incriminating evidence.

Have you heard of the crusades, the burning of the witches and heretics, the murder of the Protestants, the persecution of the Jews, child sex scandals among the priests . . .

Yes, you are clutching as straws to bash Mormonism, forgetting how much easier it is to do that with Catholicism.

Crusades: Christian, not just Catholic. Witches: EVERYONE, not just Catholics. Murder of Protestants? Can you be specific? Persecution of Jews: Romans, Nazis… hmmm, gee, no Catholics behind that one. Besides, the last Pope (my favorite one) apologized for the holocaust. Did Mormons? Seriously, I don’t know, do you? Child sex scandals? Yeah, try looking at EVERY religion.

I think you are deeply offensive with your false claims about Mormons and ridiculous assertions.

I shared a story about what it was like when I moved here. Prove me wrong.

.

Look - all I asked was a simple question. It was NOT a challenge! Why did you have to get rude? And if it really means anything to you, yes - I do have a vision problem. But I have more of a problem with people like you who are ready to go for blood when a simple question is asked.

You don’t see me claiming innocence for all of them do you? Yet here you are claiming that NO Mormon would do this kind of stuff. Get real Zerinus.

You are not making sense. She was trying to throw stones at Mormonism; I tried to show her that I can break many more glasses by throwing stones at Catholicism. They have a lot more glasses to break than we do.

ok children stop throwing stones:p

Z is exhibiting classic behavior that I have encountered in Mormons in Utah. I don’t mean to be offensive, most of this I have seen at the University, and I am not saying ALL Mormons are like this, but a super-majority of the ones I have met: They are arrogant, narrow-minded, and refuse to accept they are ever wrong.

As a note to get BACK on the subject, we are talking about 3 Mormon missionaries who did something wrong. They admit it, one even apologized for it. So everyone, stop “throwing stones” and let’s have a discussion, can we? Or am I asking too much of you, Z?
