Jesus still has his glorified body, The bible says so. The Catholic Church has always taught it. And we believe it.

The Mormon leaders have consistently lied to their followers, claiming that Christians do not believe that Jesus has a body and that we don’t believe in the physical resurrection of the body. Both are outright lies, and your leaders know it. They are lying to you. What else are they lying about?

Mormons lie, it is the one thing they are consistent about.
Are there any mainstream denominations that believe that Jesus shed His body either before or after ascending, as Elder Callister of the Seventy stated at Conference?

Thanks for telling us your personal opinion. I told you what the Mormon Church currently teaches. I say “currently” because I’m sure in a few years it will change its beliefs, just as it always has. For example, the church used to say blacks can’t be priests, but now they can. This doctrinal change would make sense if it was a development of doctrine, that is, a deepening of the understanding of Public Revelation, one doctrine on top of the other, like a ladder reaching up to God and down to man all at once (for God gave the revelation and man’s understanding about is raised) - however, since Mormons see fit to change instead of develope their doctrines, it dose not make sense and sees to be a simple and cunning means to cover up past errors and faults and to be more in tune with the truth.
I think you misunderstand the difference between doctrines and policies. Doctines are eternal principles or laws that never change. Policies can change according to the timing of God’s will.

For example, when Christ was on the earth he commanded his apostles to not preach to the Gentiles, but to only preach and baptize the house of Israel.

Matt 10:5-6 “These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:
But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”

Then after Christ died, Peter received a revelation that now the gospel should also be taught among the Gentiles.

Acts 10:28 “And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.”

**The church policy changed **and now the gospel was preached also to the Gentiles. Christ wasn’t pregidice against the Gentiles. He had a purpose. Man’s ways are not God’s ways and we don’t always fully understand why God does certain things. But we trust that He knows best.

In this case it follows that the first will be last and the last will be first. In the last days the Gentiles FIRST receive the gospel – that’s us. We live in the times of the Gentiles. The time will come soon that the times of the Gentiles will be fulfilled and then the gospel will also go to the Jews. This is in fulfillment of prophecy.

God also commanded King David to take multiple wives, as did Abraham, Jacob and others. This was the policy at the time.

2 Samuel 12:7-8 “7 And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul;
8 And **I gave thee thy master’s house, and thy master’s wives **into thy bosom, and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that had been too little, I would moreover have given unto thee such and such things.”

During the time of Jacob in the Book of Mormon they were commanded to NOT do these things.
Jacob 2:27-28 “Wherefore, my brethren, hear me, and hearken to the word of the Lord: For there shall not any man among you have save it be one wife; and concubines he shall have none;
For I, the Lord God, delight in the chastity of women. And whoredoms are an abomination before me; thus saith the Lord of Hosts.”

The Lord has a purpose for all these things, and will change his policy as needs be. However, the doctrines have never changed. That is why it is called the everlasting gospel.

Every Christian I talk to says that God is a Spirit. They always tell me Christ no longer has a body or that God can be in whatever shape he wants.

Hmm, that’s weird. Well for Catholics at least, we believe that Jesus Christ still has His resurrected body.

Also, yes, God can take any shape that He wants. I think that’s clear from the Bible, such as the Holy Spirit taking the form of a dove, for example. The Spirit isn’t actually a dove.

What I stated differentiates from “similar substance” because “similar substance” means that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are not all equal in terms of Divinity. The Father would be different from the Son in terms of how divine He is, since they are not the same substance. Also, this divides Divinity up, by saying that there are different kinds of divinity, each held by the Three Persons. Instead, the Catholic position is that all three are of one substance, the same substance, and are all fully Divine.

God can take on any shape that He desires, as is evident in the Bible. Of course, we do not believe that the Father has a body of flesh and bones, though He certainly can take on that form if he desires, just like how the Holy Spirit can appear as a dove, but He isn’t a dove. Nor is the Father really a man. These are forms that they can take on to interact with us.

When Jesus Christ ascended to Heaven after His resurrection, He kept his body. We believe that He still has it. We do not believe that He shed His body. We believe that He was bodily resurrected, and bodily ascended, and He still has His body.

No, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit do not have spirits like ours. This is a difference between Mormonism and Catholicism. We believe that we are ontologically (by nature) different from God. It is only by adoption that we become sons and daughters of God, and that we partake of the Divine nature (which is different from our own nature).

Yes, Jesus Christ went to Hades after His death.
So Jesus Christ went to Hades after His death… but did he have a spirit body there? He obviously didn’t have his physical body at the time. Does Christ’s spirit body have shape like ours does? Or is he just a floating bunch of essense or substance?

Why are Cathlic doctrines of God so similar to the Greeks and Stoics? Why do the Catholics us the Greek LOGOS when referring to Christ?

The fact is, nobody becomes “gods” after death. To say that they do is to speak heresy. But then again, Mormons are full of heresies.

No, but many aspects of the Mormon temple endowment were borrowed from Freemasonry. The hand clasps, keywords, blood oaths, apron and many other parts of the endowment were lifted directly from the freemason rituals.

It is no coincidence that it was only a few months after Joseph Smith was inducted into the Masonic Lodge that he “revealed” the temple endowment, complete with masonic handshakes, passwords, blood oaths, etc.

Joseph Smith was a master plagiarist.
No doubt some of this plays into Glen Beck’s thinking process.

It’s not the mormon’s fault, it’s Joe Smith’s fault. He was not an educated guy and he taught a boatload of lies. He was a con man, a sheister, a fraud, a religious poser and a criminal. Snakeoil salesmen garnered much more respect and Egyptians had a lot of good laughs over Joe’s goofy “translations”.

Thankfully, former mormons have expressed the full truth at this site…here.

Eucharisted,
I personally believe God the Father is a resurrected Person who lived on an earth, but also believe that just as Christ was always perfect, He was also always perfect meaning perfectly sinless. So that is way different than what you have written here.

Man was really created in the image of God. Man really can “become perfect in Christ”, and inherit a joint throne in the heavens just as the apostle John taught so plainly. But that will I assume take thousands of years after this life to qualify, through learning much more than we learn in this life. It’s part of what “eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, nor entered into the heart of man.”
Can you please show me where your beliefs about God once being a man is proved in the bible? And don’t mention about him walking in the garden with Adam and Eve… because obviously he was already a God by this point. 😃
As a former Mormon, I can tell you these doctrines are true. However, you only become a God if you are married in the Mormon Temple using Masonic rituals.

Interesting…huh??
Yes, very, very… interesting. I already knew this. It’s quite… er… disturbing…

Chris, I have had the same experience, Every evangelical Christian I have spoken to has claimed this. A few Catholics I have spoken to have also claimed this, but most Catholics know their religion better than that. Catholics have a better handle on the 'not confusing the Persons" part of the Trinity, and most of 'em believe that Christ has a physical body.

Get a Catholic to confirm this, though.

The problem in the world today isn’t that people don’t believe in God. Most people BELIEVE in God. The problem is that most people have an incorrect idea of the true character and attributes of God. Without a true knowledge of these things men could not exercise complete faith in Him for life and salvation.

John 17:3 “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”

For example if I believed God did not have all knowledge, I would be concerned God would one day discover some new doctrine and destroy God’s plan of salvation. I would hold back my complete faith in Him.

If I believed God did not have Mercy, Love, Judgement, Justice, Truth, Power I would not have sufficient confidence in God. I would hold back having faith in Him.

If I didn’t know God was my Father and I was His actual child, I would not understand my true potential. I would not believe God truely cared for me. Unfortunately, some in this life who have an abusive father, tend to see God in the same way their father treated them. They don’t understand how God could allow so much suffering in this world. Some think God is laughing at us or mocking us. Some think he is constantly angry at us. It is these false ideas of God that causes many to lose faith in Him.

I know Catholics believe in all these good attributes of God. Catholics are good people. However, the belief that God is a mass of energy that fills the universe causes me to doubt his intentions for me. I cannot love a mass of energy. When I know God is my actual Father and I am His seed, and that He wants me to be like Him, my love and faith grow for Him.
:)Chris, that’s all well, and good, but why do you have to believe in joseph Smith in order to join your church? Why not Just God? Almost everything they mention is a result of what he said or is in his doctrine and covenants, so much : emphasis is placed on him and not Jesus. And i did not lie about my granddaughter having to give 10% of her pay you look up page238 in D&C section 119 and read it. Also don’t patronize me it is not becomming. Also my dad and I are very close and i had no problems with him abusing me if that’s your point. I love my dad he is 89 years young and a wonderful man!

Also a reason that some speculate the Masons in the Mob refused to save Joseph at Carthage. He had revealed those Masonic rituals and introduced them into his church. When he ran to the windo of the jail arms over his head and shouted “Oh Lord my God is there no help for the widows son?” He attempted to seek protection throught the Masons present in the Mob, however many believe the Masons had participated due to the reason he had revealed their(Masons)oaths and hand clasps along with the veil ceremony to the LDS chruch.

I find it funny that very soon after his admission into the Mason’s he began introducing “Temple” ceremonies no doubt brought to him via “Divine” revelation.

Hi, Zundrah,
I liked the apostrophe in the heading you made for this thread, which provided a double entendre that was quite nice. Way to do that, if inadvertantly.😉

In answer to your question, John 5:19 says:
19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.

I realize one such as yourself feels some sense of apprehension about thinking about the words in the Bible on your own, without feeling like someone is looking over your shoulder ready to say “shame on you” at any moment. But if you’ll think for yourself, and really realize that God wants to have such a personal relationship with you that there is no need to fear that someone is “looking over your shoulder,” then you can understand the very simple concept that a Son becomes like His Father, especially a Perfect Son of a Perfect Father. Christ taught this in so many ways, over and over again in the New Testament. He became like His Father when He was truly, in very deed, resurrected.

Have a good evening, Jennifer.

From the time that Jesus rose from the dead he had and has to this day a “glorified body” His body in the glorified state is much the same as the just will receive.

When Jesus rose from the dead, it wasn’t as though he was resuscitated (as were others who rose from the dead, like Lazarus); instead, Jesus’ Resurrection was the kind of resurrection that all of the saved will have at the end of time: He received and we will receive our glorified bodies. While we will know each other in heaven, we may look different than we do now. In like manner, Jesus’ glorified body probably was different in some respects from the body he had during his public ministry, but it was close enough to what he had before that his disciples eventually recognized him (see John 21:4-7). Luke 24:16 also notes that in one of Jesus’ encounters with the disciples that “their eyes were kept from recognizing him,” suggesting that he may have looked the same, but people were miraculously kept from understanding who he was for the moment.

It matters only to mormons; not to anyone else what mormons think.

mormons are not Christian. Best to call themselves “Smithians”.

It would be great if a mormon could somehow have the backbone or the credibility to support their own cult. Ain’t happenin.

Best to go to: www.ex-mormon.org. to find the truth of the brave.
:p:clapping::extrahappy::bounce::rotfl: AMEN!

You know i alway’s thought he was shot by the Masons because he was ca:eek:ught with one of their wifes?

I don’t know if anybody has that as “official doctrine,” Thurifer…but I can attest that many Christians have said that they personally believe this to be true.

…in fact, some of them have said this quite forcefully. 😉

“GRACE is that UNMERITED FAVOR OF GOD, whereby in His own SOVEREIGN good pleasure, IT PLEASES THE TRIUNE GOD to MANIFEST HIS OWN GLORY 1 by showing KINDNESS and MERCY to those whom, before the foundation of the world, GOD THE FATHER CHOSE, OR ELECTED 2 to save, or redeem (with absolutely NO consideration or foresight of anything good in them) from among His enemies,3 ALL of which are by nature rebellious, Hell-deserving sinners, as fallen through the sin of the first man Adam, their federal head and representative 4 – by effectually calling them through GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT,5 to repentance toward God, and faith in His dear Son,6 by justifying them,7 by delivering them from the reigning power of sin and Satan,8 by adopting them into His family and giving them the Spirit of adoption, the Holy Spirit, to indwell them,9 by giving them spiritual and eternal life 10 and transforming them by regeneration, or the New Birth,11 so that they willingly 12 become His true worshippers,13 and His obedient, loving servants,14 and who are ultimately to be glorified, or perfectly conformed to the image of His dear Son 15 – all of this at a TREMENDOUS COST to Him of incomprehensible PERSONAL SACRIFICE: 16 the VOLUNTARY, SUBSTITUTIONARY, PROPITIATORY SACRIFICE,17 the shedding of the PRECIOUS BLOOD,18 of His only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ 19 (who is GOD THE SON manifest in human flesh) in their behalf.” 20

Thank you for confirming this, Ricko. I haven’t had too many Catholics insist that Jesus Christ is a spirit without a physical body; most confirm that He does indeed have a perfect, resurrected physical form.

I don’t honestly know the official stand of other Christian faiths, but as I mentioned earlier, those that argue with me about the Trinity seem almost universal in their insistance that He is, as is His Father, a spirit.
