Yes, yes and yesThank you…Christ is the figurehead drawn from the image of the perfect priest in those days of Melchizdek.
The priesthood of Aaron ended with Hebrew apostasy in worshipping the Golden Calf. When Moses came down from Mt Sinai, he then saw that the Jewish people broke all the law in this false worship, and threw the clay tablets down to the ground, for the Law was broken.
When the veil on the tabernacle was torn at Christ’s death, and then the eventual destruction of the Jewish Temple, Christ said He would restore the Temple in 3 days…on His resurrection day…
The New Temple is Jesus Christ. He told the Apostles, "Do this in remembrance of Me…at the beginning of the Last Supper…the new model for divinely inspired worship. Christ instituted His priesthood at the Last Supper. He gave them the power to forgive sin on the evening of the Resurrection before His glorious ascension into heaven.
Pentecost is the beginning of His church. Church practices rapidly came set and generalized.

Pentecost is the beginning of His church.
:thumbsup:Matt 16:18 And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it.Kathleen,
“In remembrance”, yes–that is correct.
Pentecost wasn’t the beginning of His church–of course not. His church was in existence while He was on the earth–namely, His followers, His congregation of believers.
Do you have a link to Pitcharin’s conversion please?A quick bounce back to the sacrament of penance…I read a post by Pitcharin in his conversion process…he deliberately went to confession 12 years ago to a scandalous priest. He then went to a virtuous priest and was shocked that they both gave him the same advice and absolution.
Kathleen, the story sounds interesting but I’m sure you know it doesn’t even start to prove anything about confessionA quick bounce back to the sacrament of penance…I read a post by Pitcharin in his conversion process…he deliberately went to confession 12 years ago to a scandalous priest. He then went to a virtuous priest and was shocked that they both gave him the same advice and absolution.
**The Holy Spirit, the Giver of Life…if we listen we can hear him.Jesus had His followers…many abandoned Him, others did not. Recall His entrance into Jerusalem and where the crowd demanded the release of a criminal and called for the crucifixion of Christ.
Pilate had no religion but knew Christ was without fault.
Most of the apostles hid themselves out of fear. There could be no church until Christ’s mission on earth was completed…then there was the 40 days of spiritual suffering of the apostles and those faithful to Christ…they could do nothing.
It was Pentecost…when the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles, Mary and other followers representing the body of the church…Who empowered them and taught them, and Who took away their fear and replaced them with strength and confirmation of faith in Christ.
It has been the Holy Spirit Who has guided the church for 2,000 years, never breaking away from upholding the common unity of believers.
Did a search couldn’t find it. Do you have a link?Miriam, It is on the current thread, ‘can priests forgive sins…’…post 37
