MORMONS (LDS) what is this "great apostasy" that you claim to have happened?

Recognizing that Catholics do not speak for the Holy See – I as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, speaking for myself and not the general leadership of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Salt Lake City, the First Presidency — my reply to the “great apostasy” is the following ---- there was indifference to the truth of God beyond Catholicism, my church, or any other was on the scene (in existance here on this good green earth). Keeping in mind, my analysis of Catholic apologists such as Patrick Madrid, just to name one for a example only and Catholic doctrine going back to Peter, the number of councils since including Vatican 2, and recognizing the statements of the Congregation on the Doctrine of the Faith relative to my baptism in my church, as is the general doctrine of Catholicism, in accord with the Cathecism, Magisterism, etc ----- the gates have been prevailing and continue.

The issue I have kept in mind has been your interpretation of apostasy and my conviction of the same. For me, there is no “middle ground” to calm some who take me to task AND YET I MUST without question come to the “truth” in the Catholic Church, based on your professions which are several from the loyal Catholics I know, former Catholics I know, an the conservative, liberal, and moderate Catholics that I know — I state loyal versus conservative versus liberal versus moderate purposely.

The fact is revealed ONLY through the Holy Ghost.

Of course, your and my understanding of how God reveals his will are without question in two different worlds.

The truth through the Holy Ghost, not my opinion. MY ANSWER — the source of truth regarding the apostasy is the Holy Ghost.

My conviction has come through the Holy Ghost, which keeps me out of the nearest parish for me. That will never change regardless of what is said here or not, done or not.

Yes, that is all you have; something you hope is the Holy Spirit. You don’t have history, science or reason. History says one thing, your Holy Spirit says another.

The Catholic Church never had the keys, authority to make such a profession, nonetheless it has for centuries.

I was not duped. Catholics are right so we are wrong? Mormons are right and Catholics are wrong regarding keys? (Authority is a big issue with me and the wonderful (or whatever you may be) Catholics or etc on the forums. If I offended someone, my intention was not do so. I state my professions in light of the continuation of words, media, etc in the Catholic world in general, whether here, paid apologists, etc.

I could sit on the forums for forever explaining to some the key official differences on keys as you profess and how you attack my conviction regarding my profession of the keys of the kingdom, authority of God, the priesthood (I will continue with some of you I know it).

Mormons ARE duped. Mormons ARE wrong regarding keys. St. Peter was given the keys by Jesus Christ Himself. The sucessors of St. Peter possess those keys to this day. Mormonism is a false construct of Joseph Smith, who created a plagarized “scripture” to lend credence to his fraud, much like L. Ron Hubbard created his Scientology “scripture” called “Dianetics.” No matter how fast you dance, or how much you protest, mormonism will never be anything but false.

Sometimes, I think Mormons mistake their own egos for the Holy Spirit.

Yes, you were and are duped.

I know you had no intention of offending anyone. But if you came on to a Catholic message board website, and even though this is the “Non-Catholic” forum, and honestly believed that we would not contradict you on your false belief that is the foundation of your false religion, sad to say you have not only had the wool pulled over your eyes, but you’ve been bound and gagged by it.

You made a bold claim that is wrong. On a Catholic site. You will be corrected.

That has always amazed me. mormons waltz onto a Catholic apologetics site, spout off all kinds of leatherheaded flapdoodle about “apostacy” and “priesthood” and “apostles” and “authority” etc. etc. etc. and get offended when they get called on it. To use an old mormon term; they have “Chutzpah.” (I think that this comes from the “reformed Egyptian.”) (Mexicans call it “Cojones.”)

It’s not that he wouldn’t or couldn’t, it’s that he *didn’t. *I believe they made it into known world. He also said nothing about creating other Apostles after the first ones.

As more of the world became known, others were sent out to evangelize, but it didn’t mean they were apostles.
Gracious,
Are you really saying that Christ didn’t know how many people there were in the world, or how large the world was when He sent them into “all the world”?

I don’t understand why such a big deal is made by Catholics about some verses and their meaning and “how can Christ fail in fulfilling a prophecy?”, yet he told the apostles, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15) “teach all nations” (Matthew 28:19) This was the apostolic commission. Did He mean it, or not?

Did He not know what He was saying and asking them to do? Is that what you are saying?

No that’s a complete lie! The catholic chruch **always had the keys **and they still do now! Can’t you read the bible!? “ON THIS ROCK” - “KEYSTO THE KINGDOM”!!!

This is the most stubborn and ridiculous thing I have ever heard a mormon say!

Sometimes, I think Mormons mistake their own egos for the Holy Spirit.
:yup::yup: I agree, this is my experience too, they too often seem to be self focused rather that spiritually focused.

No. I am not saying that.

The only thing I have to ask you is, are you saying that Christ lied to His apostles when He said He would be with us always and would send the Holy Spirit to protect His church?

From what I’ve read, yes, you are saying that. So pretty much anything else that you’ve said or claimed about Christ is, well… who can tell what is true or false since you’ve essentially called Him a liar?

Gracious,
My reply before was that Christ never forces behavior. That is still my reply to your assertion. That belief is certainly the trump card that will always work for every single person who has been taught what you have been taught, so I don’t blame you at all for pulling out the trump card. It becomes pointless to talk about Biblical meanings under those circumstances. I certainly don’t believe what you have asserted, of course. Have a nice day.

Yes, that’s right, ParkerD. A “trump card.” 🤷

I know Christ never forces behaviour. If He did, you’d be Catholic. 😃
