Recognizing that Catholics do not speak for the Holy See – I as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, speaking for myself and not the general leadership of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Salt Lake City, the First Presidency — my reply to the “great apostasy” is the following ---- there was indifference to the truth of God beyond Catholicism, my church, or any other was on the scene (in existance here on this good green earth). Keeping in mind, my analysis of Catholic apologists such as Patrick Madrid, just to name one for a example only and Catholic doctrine going back to Peter, the number of councils since including Vatican 2, and recognizing the statements of the Congregation on the Doctrine of the Faith relative to my baptism in my church, as is the general doctrine of Catholicism, in accord with the Cathecism, Magisterism, etc ----- the gates have been prevailing and continue.
The issue I have kept in mind has been your interpretation of apostasy and my conviction of the same. For me, there is no “middle ground” to calm some who take me to task AND YET I MUST without question come to the “truth” in the Catholic Church, based on your professions which are several from the loyal Catholics I know, former Catholics I know, an the conservative, liberal, and moderate Catholics that I know — I state loyal versus conservative versus liberal versus moderate purposely.
