Is there any copy of the Bible a Moslem can show me with all the corrupted bits highlighted? (A Moslem approved translation of the Bible)

It can’t be all corrupted because there’s so many Moslems out there using selected Biblical verses to show that Muhammed was prophecised

Thought the same thing myself many times.
I’ve seen Moslems who argue that the Bible predicts Muhammed - they usually use reference to ‘the helper’, which as all Chrisitans know, is the Holy Spirit who came at Pentecost.

However, if Moslems use the Bible as ‘proofs’, then these verses should be ‘okay’ by them.

I wonder why no Moslem’s yet given me a list of which verses are approved

I don’t think you’re understanding the Muslim view on this, Montalban.

When we say the Bible is corrupt, we mean it is as a whole, not that only certain parts have been “corrupted”. But as with all corrupt historical sources, it still contains varying degrees of truth in it. The Synoptic Gospels are much closer to the Islamic view of Jesus (pbuh) than the Gospel of John is, for example.

The proof is in the sword. Do you really want it?

Oh dear… I think I’m gonna get in trouble for submitting this reply…

I understand this exactly. Moslems then take specific parts of the Bible to prove certain points - such as that muhammed was predicted.

If these particular verses are ‘true’ then as a whole the Bible might still be corrupt, but certain verses aren’t. So, where’s the Moslem list of uncorrupted verses?

As you can see, it’s you who hasn’t understood the OP

They might well be, but which particular verses are true?

For example, a series of specific verses is said to be true (Islamically) by being used as examples of preidctions of Muhammed…

Come, let us look to the Bible for what Jesus promised for His followers.

Jesus said, in John 14:16-18, “And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever; the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.”

Again, Jesus said, in John 14:26-27, “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

Again, Jesus said, in John 15:26 “But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me.”

<<The Synoptic Gospels are much closer to the Islamic view of Jesus (pbuh) than the Gospel of John is, for example.>>

But the Synoptics say the same thing that John does: that Jesus is God made flesh!

I confess there is no God but Father, Son, and Holy Spirit Jesus is God Incarnate!

Indeed!
Jesus Himself commanded
Matthew 28:19
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit

He didn’t say “…in the names of the Father”

Where did you get that idea, when there is no ‘BIBLE according to Islam’? Infact, there wasn’t any Bible according to Jesus (pbuh) as well. Jesus (pbuh) doesn’t anything about any of the 4 gospels or any books in NT. But he knew of something called ‘Good News’ which translates ‘INJEEL’ in Arabic.

Read Mark 1:14 After John had been put in prison, Jesus went to Galilee and told people the Good News of God.

Please note, it is two different things.
  1. ‘Injeel’ as it is.
  2. Gospel of God, explanations by Jesus (pbuh), interpretations of disciples, interpolations of later editors as a whole.
What we find in the Gospels is both. What we have to find in the NT Gospels is, the true words of GOD/FATHER which Jesus (pbuh) preached, known to Mark (infact, only to Mark) as ‘Gospel of God’ or ‘Good news of God’ (we find both in different translations) and known Muslims as ‘Injeel -Revelations from God’ which was not preserved as happened in the case of Quran. We Muslims have words of God as seperate, words of prophet as seperate and interpretations of companians and later scholars as seperate.

No Muslims believe that Words of God can be corrupted. So the question for a corrupted Injeel is pointless, since such a book doesn’t exist as pure or as even corrupted. What we have is, 4 Gospels according to 4 disciples which talkes about the cross event as main, the events happened before it which leads to the cross and the events after it.

Now, if the question is about corruptions in those books, Bible itself can give you the details. Especially many modern translations, such as NIV, RSV etc.

For example, find below an ADDITION to the Bible.

Check the note, ((The most reliable early manuscripts and other ancient witnesses do not have Mark 16:9-20.))

If it wasn’t written originally by the original writer, who added it there?

Now, find a REMOVAL of an addition.

Check 1 John 5:7 in KJV or Douay-Rheims. You can find trinity concept there as below,

‘For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.’

We don’t find it in the modern versions of Bible like RSV, NIV, NASB, GWT, ASV,BBE, DBY, WEY, WEB etc. It is been removed as later addition.

Let me know if you want more.

There you go USING THE BIBLE to prove something!

Is it that difficult to understand?

IF you think that the Bible contains some truths (as you now quote from it to prove a point to Christians) which other verses are equally valid?
No Muslims believe that Words of God can be corrupted.
That’s false. The whole premise of Islam is that previous manifestations of al-lah’s message have been distorted by Jews and Christians!
Moses is seen as a Moslem…
7:143
And Moses fell down senseless. And when he woke he said: Glory unto Thee! I turn unto Thee repentant, and I am the first of (true) believers.

So was Abraham…
[3.67] Ibrahim was not a Jew nor a Christian but he was (an) upright (man), a Muslim, and he was not one of the polytheists.

Which is why you have distinctions between messengers…
2:253
Of those messengers, some of whom We have caused to excel others, and of whom there are some unto whom Allah spake, while some of them He exalted (above others) in degree.

And here’s it being corrupted…
9:30 And the Jews say: Ezra is the son of Allah, and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah. That is their saying with their mouths. They imitate the saying of those who disbelieved of old. Allah (Himself) fighteth against them. How perverse are they!

Why do you always want a fight between us Montalban? Can’t we discuss anything peacefully? I just have only one condition, be true to your belief and words. Be honest at least with faith. Did I say there no word of god in the Bible? I said,

*1) ‘Injeel’ as it is.
  1. Gospel of God, explanations by Jesus (pbuh), interpretations of disciples, interpolations of later editors as a whole.
What we find in the Gospels is both.*

I said, there is words of God in the Bible, but it also contains the words of Jesus (pbuh) and words of writers. Why do you ignore it? just to argue?

We are not stupids to say, the whole Bible is a fairytale. We believe, it contains true words of God and true words of prophets. But it ALSO contains words of many unknown writers. It ALSO contains fabricated stories and lies imposed on prophets. We don’t believe in the Bible as a whole because the revealed words of God Torah, Zaboor, Injeel and Scrolls of Ibrahim are not preserved in the Bible in its original form. Secondly, the compiled book called BIBLE never was an idea of God. Thirdly, the words of God, words of Jesus (pbuh) and words of writers are impossible to filter from the 4 gospels. I will give you some examples for this.

I will give some verses that implies the same message of Islam and I believe it is from God. I don’t know if the wordings are as original but the message is from God.
That’s false. The whole premise of Islam is that previous manifestations of al-lah’s message have been distorted by Jews and Christians!

We indeed believe all they were great prophets (pbut) of Islam.

I will answer anyone for this, but not to a catholic who believe in spiritual distinction of humans from as high as Pope till as deep as a worst believer. Then above all, saints as well.

It is not really corrupted that Quran says.

Can ye (O ye men of Faith) entertain the hope that they will believe in you? Seeing that a party of them heard the Word of Allah, and perverted it knowingly after they understood it. -Quran 2:75

There is among them a section who distort the Book with their tongues: (as they read) you would think it is a part of the Book, but it is no part of the Book; and they say, “That is from Allah,” but it is not from Allah: it is they who tell a lie against Allah, and (well) they know it! -Quran 3:78

They change the words from their (right) places and forget a good part of the Message that was sent them, nor wilt thou cease to find them - barring a few - ever bent on (new) deceits: but forgive them, and overlook (their misdeeds): for Allah loveth those who are kind. -Quran 5:13

Then woe to those who write the Book with their own hands, and then say: “This is from Allah,” to traffic with it for a miserable price! Woe to them for what their hands do write, and for the gain they make thereby. -Quran 2:79

Verse in the Bible which we believe, is from God

God is present everywhere

“Where can I go from your Spirit: Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day for darkness is as light to you.” -Psalm 139:7-12

“Don’t you see that Allah (God) knows (all) that is in the between three, but He makes the fourth among them, - nor between five but He makes the sixth, -nor between fewer nor more, but He is in their midst, wheresoever they be; in the end He will tell them the truth of their conduct, on the Day of Judgment. For Allah has full knowledge of all things.” -Quran 58:7

God is Just

“There is no god but He: that is the witness of Allah, His angels, and those endued with knowledge, standing firm on justice. There is no god but He, the Exalted in Power, the Wise.”. -Quran 3:18

God does not Slumber or Sleep

“He(God) will not let your foot slip- he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.” -Psalm 121:3-4

“Allah! There is no god but He,-the Living, the Self-subsisting, Eternal. No slumber can seize Him nor sleep. His are all things in the heavens and on earth. Who is there can intercede in His presence except as He permitteth? He knoweth what (appeareth to His creatures as) before or after or behind them. Nor shall they compass aught of His knowledge except as He willeth. His Throne doth extend over the heavens and the earth, and He feeleth no fatigue in guarding and preserving them for He is the Most High, the Supreme (in glory).” -Quran 2:255

Omnipotent God

“He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. Great is our Lord and mighty in power his understanding has no limit.” -Psalm 147:4-5

"Say: “Whether you hide what is in your hearts or reveal it, Allah knows it all: He knows what is in the heavens, and what is on earth. And Allah has power over all things.” -Quran 3:29

(One of the Commandments) “You shall not have no other gods before me.” -Exodus 20:3

“Serve Allah (God), and join not any partners with Him”… -Quran 4:36

Don’t worship Angels

“Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you for the prize.” -Colossians 2:18

Qur’an 4:32 And in no wise covet those things in which Allah Hath bestowed His gifts more freely on some of you than on others . . .

What if the Holy Quran was copied from the Bible or any other previous scripture available? It is possible. But note that, if Quran was copied from Bible, it was supposed to contain those scientifical / numerical / theological errors mentioned in the Bible, as those were not discovered 1400 years ago. Surprisingly, Quran copied (If we suppose it was copied) only some of the correct statements and excludes all the error. Whichever event is quoted wrongly in the Bible, Quran tells us the same in the correct way. Some of them are below.
  1. Lev. 10:9; Prov. 20:1 is contradicting 31:6-7 which gives exceptions. Bible indicates that it is a gift from God (Psalm 104:14-15). The very first miracle of Jesus was turning water into wine. None of these events mentioned in Quran.
  2. Genesis 9:17 where it says the rainbow, as a token of covenant? Today we know why there is rainbow. You won’t find such statement in Quran.
  3. Bible says, the uncleanness of the women is double the period (80 days) if she gives birth to a girl in compare to giving birth to a boy (40 days)? Check Levi 12:2-5. You won’t find such statement in Quran.
  4. How far the bitter water test (Num 5:12-31) is practical? Is there any priest alive who can do this? Quran doesn’t guarantee such tests.
  5. Bible says, the sun was created on the third day (Genesis 1:13-18), how possibly the first 2 days and nights came into existence without the sun? May be God was the source of the light for the first two days; but the earth doesn’t move/rotate (1 Chr 16:30, Psalms 93:1, 96:10), how the day and night, morning and evening happened?
  6. Bible gives an impression of a flat earth. If earth is a globe, which mountain was that high, that Jesus could see all the kingdoms (Matthew 4:8)? How could it be possible to see all countries from one spot? Also check Daniel 4:11; in the dream of Daniel all the people of earth could see the tree. You won’t find such statements in Quran.
  7. Bible says, a different God existed (Judges 11:24), who could defeat the people of God in war, in response to sacrifice. Check 2 Kings 3:27. You won’t find such statements in Quran.
  8. How could it be a sacrifice, if Abraham knew God will provide the animal for sacrifice as it said in Genesis 22:8? Quran tells us the same event in the correct manner as Abraham told his son (we believe it was Ismail) about the sacrifice and Abraham didn’t knew, God will provide a ram.

Verse wher we have difficulty to understand the words of Jesus (pbuh) and the words of disciples

In the gospel of Mark (10:17-18. see Luke 18:18-19), a man is reported to have asked Jesus, "Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life? "Jesus (P) simply replied, "Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone. You know the commandments: ‘You shall not murder; You shall not commit adultery; You shall not steal; You shall not bear false witness; You shall not defraud; Honor your father and mother.’ "

Look at the same event in Matthew. “Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?” “Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. …” (Matthew 19:16-17)

What did he exactly asked and What did Jesus (pbuh) exactly answered is unknown since we have two versions of it. Either one is wrong or both are wrong.

If we go through a parrellel Bible where we can read and compare each gospels, mark with matthew, matthew with luke, luke with john, we can find this problem of getting the accurate words Jesus (pbuh) and disciples in almost all the verses. It is like each of them have their own version of Jesus (pbuh) and his teaching. Normally christians come up with the reason, they all had their own different audience etc. But at the end, what we lost is the actual words of Jesus (pbuh).

Muslims have had almost 1600 years to produce an original document showing any corruption whatsoever and they have failed to do so. There is no evidence and only the dishonest will state otherwise.
You can’t be that blind to the evidence I have given in Post no. 9, can you?

Many times I will hear a Muslim say that they can’t trust anything in the Bible, because of the fact that none of the original texts remain to this day. Ironically, this same fact applies to the Quran as well but somehow they don’t find it a problem in that case.

I have given the evidence from your own Bible versions that it never existed similar for atleast last 100 years. Many verses in yesterdays Bible is not there in todays Bible. I can give you similar copies, without the difference of a dot, lasted atleast for 1000 years. Will you agree then that the Quran existed without a change for atleast 1000 years?
