This is what the Muslims say to justify Mohammeds actions. Was it really the cultural norm back then to have sex with a young kid?
Either way, and whatever the reasons, its a sick act and immorally wrong.

Depravity is part of the fallen human condition. It occurs in all times and now in our own society. We come up with all kinds of mental contortions to justify it. We are doing that here in the west right now. A fifty year old man raping a child who has not even entered puberty is depraved, but some argument can be made to justify it as arguments can be made to justify any immoral act. If however, this man is God’s greatest prophet, then his actions must be good and worthy of imitation by others. There can be nothing wrong with a man of fifty marrying as one of his wives a young girl and violating her.Was it really the cultural norm back then to have sex with a young kid?
No, it does not seem to have been the norm as it caused controversy in Mohameds day by marrying Aisha. Was it really the cultural norm back then to have sex with a young kid?
How many critics of Muhammed lived long? No, it does not seem to have been the norm as it caused controversy in Mohameds day by marrying Aisha.
But even then he supposedly had a revelation from al-lah didn’t he? (approving this move)Mohamed upset the cultural norm again when a few years later he manipulated his adopted son’s wife to divorce the son so Mohamed could marry her.
Certainly not many after he went back to Mecca. How many critics of Muhammed lived long?
He did. Just as he received a revelation clearing Aisha of adultery when she was ‘lost’ on one of his raiding parties. This was a huge controversy of his time. But even then he supposedly had a revelation from al-lah didn’t he? (approving this move)
An excellent movie based on a true story explains how ‘Holy’ Moslem men treat women (children). He was 52 when this act took place.
And apparently it was the cultural norm to do this back then…
Not that it makes it right by no means, its absolutely discusting to think a man of that age would do this to a little girl.

In Islam if you treat a whole group badly, then that’s fair. So if you treat all women like idiots, that’s fair (and in Islam, they believe women are of less intelligence than a man)So why are Muslim men allowed to marry up to 4 when Allah says they can’t be fair to them?
why did Muhammad even marry more? are women gifts that a “prophet” receives? and was he fair with all?
For them, the prophet Muhammed was a special messenger so he was allowed extra rights. If not mistaken my question is pretty simple…lets give it some time.
Must be a dead threadAh no responses so far…
As we Orthodox still have married clergy, we KNOW what the verse means. A deacon or priest (and bishop) are allowed one wife, no remarriage after death of a spouse, or divorce. The idea is to set the standard of Christian marriage, 1 man + 1 woman + God x for life=marriage. One wife per husband is a relatively new social concept.
St. Paul shows the newness of it when he makes the distinction for Deacons in the Church to have only one wife. If it was already an established norm why mention it? Prior to that in all of Scripture the patriarchs has multiple wives. Some into the hundreds. One king of Israel closing in on a thousand (900 wives not counting concubines doesn’t sound too particularly wise to me).
And that’s another thing! When I hear the members of the “Bring Back Traditional Biblical Marriage Values” brigade spouting off I want to ask them about the concubines and where do they fit into their movement to bring it all back.
Men, be a biblical man! When your spouse asks you what you want for your next birthday you standup and say loud and proud, “Honey, I want me a concubine!”
Indeed. David, for example had many wives, and many more concubines. But we don’t *follow *David. The OT has instance of polygamy: find one of these instances where the Bible shows it as a good thing ending well. The bible expressly links your example to the apostacy of Israel (keeping all those foreign brides happy with their gods).
"If you deem it best for the orphans, you may marry their mothers you may marry two, three, or four. If you fear lest you become unfair, then you shall be content with only one, or with what you already have. Additionally, you are thus more likely to avoid financial hardship. " (Quran 4:3)So why are Muslim men allowed to marry up to 4 when Allah says they can’t be fair to them?
He was fair with all.why did Muhammad even marry more? are women gifts that a “prophet” receives? and was he fair with all?
Hey Khalfan"If you deem it best for the orphans, you may marry their mothers you may marry two, three, or four. If you fear lest you become unfair, then you shall be content with only one, or with what you already have. Additionally, you are thus more likely to avoid financial hardship. " (Quran 4:3)
“You can never be equitable in dealing with more than one wife, no matter how hard you try. Therefore, do not be so biased as to leave one of them hanging (neither enjoying marriage, nor left to marry someone else). If you correct this situation and maintain righteousness, GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful.” (Quran 4:129).
What God says impossible, is the perfection of equity. At the same time, If one do the best for it (‘If you correct this situation and maintain righteousness’), God promises his forgiveness and mercy for the mistakes happens in establishment of equity. Quran is asking to be content with only one wife or what you already have (for those who are already married to more than one). This way, Islam is more likely to avoid inequity. Since being equitable is such an important commandment in the Quran, monogamy is greatly encouraged. However, if a man wants to take on this challenge, that is between him and his Creator (Quran 4:129).
but doesn’t this oppose what Allah says that it is impossible? He was fair with all.
