Okay, I can accept that. I don’t mean to be callous about this as I have learned much from Mother Angelica, but at this juncture what is the point? The earthly body ceases to function, but as we all know the soul, the very life force continues on. Out of everyone on the earth, we Christians have the least to fear about moving on and of us Christians for good Mother Angelica the fear should be even less. I was with my mother when she passed and it was a beautiful moving moment, the most natural thing in the world. Sure I miss her, and I mourned her, but where she is now nothing can hurt her and that gives me great solace.

So then the question remains, when do we stop such actions? Would it be somehow wrong for a person paralyzed from the neck down to refuse a breathing machine? Or in this case to stop nutrition which when given only prolongs the inevitable? And I wonder, is this being done in accordance with her wishes?
Who said her body has ceased to function? There are many reasons why people who are either disabled or infirm have difficulty swallowing food - it doesn’t mean they are near death. The church teaching is clear - in cases in which the provision of food and water are not a burden to the patient, they must be administered. It is basic care.

Prayers for Mother Angelica.

I believe they still carry Mother Angelica & the Poor Clares praying the Rosary on EWTN. 🙂
They do.

Currently that’s the one they carry in the morning.

When EWTN radio came to my area that was the version they were playing at night, when I got into the practice of praying the Rosary again.

I wasn’t sure where to put this but I “checked in” at EWTN after many months and they updated news on Mother. For those who enjoyed her shows and lessons, she is starting to decline even more. Please keep her in your prayers.

WINTER 2015: “All for Jesus”

Since our last update, Mother Angelica’s condition has declined, and it became necessary to put her on a feeding tube. The good part is that she now receives the necessary nutrients she needs. There were some up and down moments, and Mother has suffered a great deal these past months. She is quite a trouper. God has gifted Mother with much suffering during her life which she has always accepted, living out her motto “Totus Jesu” - All for Jesus.

Recently, a Mother Superior wrote this to her: “I believe only in Heaven will you finally realize all the GOOD your loving labor for God and His people have done for us all.”

Please keep Mother in your prayers as she continues to give her all to Jesus

Continued prayers for Mother Angelica. If anyone heard further news,be sure to let us know.

Just wanted to add my prayers to everyone else’s.

:crossrc: May God grant her health and well being of mind, body, soul, and spirit according to his divine will and our souls good. :crossrc:

EWTN’s News Nightly just did a brief update on Mother since it seems rumors were getting out of hand that she was fighting to live. Not true. She has been on a feeding tube for several months now and because she is getting the nurishment she needs, she is stronger.

It’s a reminder that a feeding tube does not mean someone is nearing death. It’s an aid to help people eat who may have trouble. Stroke victims often struggle with swallowing

She may not be at that point yet. When that happens, she won’t be able to tolerate the feedings, or even fluids, and they will be stopped. But as long as she’s tolerating them, and doesn’t suffer more from having them, they can be given.

I would request that those who wish to discuss the morality/advisability of feeding tubes to start a separate thread in the Moral Theology Forum, which would be a more appropriate place. This thread is about Mother Angelica.
DaveBj - Thank you - that discussion doesn’t belong here.

Prayers and Peace for Mother Angelica
