As every person sinned, so did Mary as I stated. She was faithful once, yes? Many people have chosen to be faithful to God.
Well I can tell you right off the bat that there are millions of people who are exempted from this…or are you telling me that babies sin too? And heck you can add Jesus to that exemption, for he became man.Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
The word that Luke uses–κεχαριτωμένη, kecharitomene–appears to have been crafted out of thin air, appearing into the Greek vocabulary as unexpectedly as the Angel Gabriel appeared to Mary and as silently as the Word became Flesh. It was the word for the moment.
The word is used nowhere else in the Scriptures or in secular Greek literature. The technical name for such a novel, unique word is hapax legomenon. Hapax legomenon–which comes to us from Greek–means “expressed once.”
This sort of word is sometimes also referred to as a nonce word. In this case, it is a one-of-a-kind word for a one-of-a-kind person in a one-of-a-kind situation. No one else in human history is κεχαριτωμένη (kecharitomene).
…
The reason why “full of grace” does not go far enough and so is not a perfect fit is that “full of grace” is the literal translation of the Greek πληρης χαριτος (pleres charitos). That phrase is used to refer to St. Stephen, the first martyr, in Acts 6:8. It is also used to refer to Jesus, the Word made flesh, in The Gospel of John 1:14.
…
What the Angel Gabriel wants to communicate to Mary and to us is in the word kecharitomene is that Mary has a unique name, a unique title, a unique role in sacred history, and so–though human–is a unique being in the economy of salvation.
…
Kecharitomene is who Mary is, and not only what she has. She is Kecharitomene as a result of that “singular privilege and grace granted by God, in view of the merits of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the human race,” as Piux IX put it in his constitution Ineffabilis Deus which defined ex cathedra the dogma of the Immaculate Conception.
Re: praying for sinHello everyone, My name is Alex. I am here to debate on why Mother mary is so special. I cannot find a live chat to speak to Catholics anywhere on the internet. I am Christian. To throw these things out here: Yes, mother Mary conceived Jesus our lord savior for 9 months and during this she was made clean. Yes respect, but why so much? When you ask for forgiveness from Jesus, your slate is completely wiped clean
1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
I see you devote an entire month for such Mary. But Mary committed sin in her life. Yes, during the time she was conceived she was made clean, but you and I are cleaned when you ask forgiveness from Jesus. She is the same as one of us, Sin is sin regardless (James 2:10). So why not devote an entire month for John the baptist? He was an outstanding obedient person, even a cousin of Jesus. Yet of course he sinned as well.
Mary had no part in the presence of Jesus. She is not Jesus’s true mother. (Luke 8:21) He replied, “My mother and brothers are those who hear God’s word and put it into practice.” I feel how you focus so much on Mary is such a distraction off the entire picture, that should be focused on Jesus. For our time is short, why waste any of it on mother Mary?
Just want to point out here that the actual verse is: “I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet”. This pertains to women in Timothy’s area who were speaking up during liturgies with questions, and as a result was causing distractions,1 Tim. 2:12 Men are not greater but have superiority over women. Therefore, why not focus on a man?
