Thank you all so much for your prayers. The surgery went fine and the doctor said that, as far as he could tell, he got all of the cancer, but we won’t know for sure until the pathology report with the microscopic exam comes back in a couple of days. They did the surgery outpatient, and Mother is at home resting and wouldn’t even let me stay and make supper for them.

She is kind of funny about other people messing in her kitchen. Whatever…
My almost-ex SIL had the nerve to show up to “offer support.” Um, OK…after she has bad-mouthed my brother all over town and done some evil, conniving things to hurt him.

I do know that her family thrives on drama, and there is no better place than the hospital to get all dramatic. My brother stayed home because he has a bad cold and didn’t want to spread his germs, so at least we didn’t have a scene. I decided to be the “bad guy” and ask her to leave, knowing that her presence would upset my mother. I did it as diplomatically as possible, saying that Mom wouldn’t want for her to see her when she is all doped up after surgery and not feeling well. SIL acted all nicey-nice and understanding, but I know how two-faced she can be, and I’d bet that at this very moment, she is twisting my words around and telling people what a b!+ch I am.

Well, too bad. I have already offered up the day’s sufferings for my mother’s healing, so whatever insults are being flung about will just add to this.
Thank you again, and God bless you all. I’m headed out to daily Mass, and I will pray for all of your intentions as well, esp. those of you who have loved ones with cancer.
