I had the same thought. Maybe the true cross (or at least a sizeable chunk of it)?
How about Peter’s sword? (John 18:10)
The anchors from Paul’s ship (Acts 27:29)
The INRI sign nailed to the top of the cross (Matthew 27:37)

What else?

I understand what you’re saying, but I wouldn’t say that they’re mutually exclusive (and I would never say that the Ark is “not Christian”). The ark precedes Christ, but it is in the Old Testament and the history of Israel is still “ours”, too. Since we believe that the events of the Old Testament are leading towards Christ and many events, people, and objects prefigure Christ, I don’t think it’s incorrect to refer to those as Christian.

I guess I just think of anything in Scripture as being Christian.
You are surely entitled to your opinion, but I believe there are many, both Christian and non-Christian, who would disagree with you.

The Ark of the Covenant: Part of our heritage? Sure. “Christian”? I don’t think so… :nope:

That’s fine with me. We can agree to disagree on this and I won’t think any less of you (and I hope you don’t think less of me!). 😉 I do enjoy (and agree with) most of your other posts that I have read. 🙂

(BTW, you don’t have to posit a hypothetical “many…would disagree” to strengthen your case. You can just tell me that you disagree weith me 😛 ;))

FYI, I believe even the Catechism says all Scripture points to Christ (i.e. is “Christian”). But I realize it is a semantic issue. 😃
CCC#102 Through all the words of Sacred Scripture, God speaks only one single Word, his one Utterance in whom he expresses himself completely: You recall that one and the same Word of God extends throughout Scripture, that it is one and the same Utterance that resounds in the mouths of all the sacred writers, since he who was in the beginning God with God has no need of separate syllables; for he is not subject to time.

CCC#2763 All the Scriptures - the Law, the Prophets, and the Psalms - are fulfilled in Christ.

I have it!! How about:

“Indiana Jones and the Search for that *Other *Ark”
(Noah’s)

Of course whatever he’s supposed to find has to have some sort of supernatural power that could be used for destruction in the wrong hands. Perhaps there is a rumor of a perfectly preserved Liger in the ark which can be used by scientists on a tropical island to breed a new race of these magical beings. Of course the race is not against Hitler or the Soviets, but those nefarious witches of Hogwart’s Academy.

This could work. maybe we can get Peter Jackson involved for directing this.

I’m curious if they’ll reference anything form “Last Crusade” (the last Indy film, 19 years ago).

Supposedly, Indy and his dad drank from the Holy Grail and have eternal life…(probably not, but the Grail DID heal his dad’s gunshot wound).

I wonder if they’ll touch on that at all…
Ahh, but he had to stay within the Grail’s hiding place for it to truly last. I LOVE those movies. In fact, growing up I liked them better than Star Wars, and I LOVE Star Wars! They’re probably responsible for my love of all things Pulp/Steampunk: The Shadow, Doc Savage, Space: 1889 (obscure roleplaying game). The funny thing to me though was that Indy was always a cynic (“C’mon Marcus, you know I don’t believe in that stuff.”) despite the fact that he had seen the things he’d seen.

I thought the grail simply could not be taken across the seal.

But (SPOILER) with Indiana’s comment in one of the last scenes of the latest movie, you’re probably right.

Yeah, I got the impression that one had to repeatedly drink from the grail and was thus bound to stay with the grail behind the seal. Kind of like a different version of Xanadu.😃

Never heard of Xanadu. 🤷
Besides being that really lame film about a roller rink…it’s a Samuel Taylor Coleridge poem about a place called Xanadu where a man lives in eternal paradise, never dying. Unfortunately he eventually realizes that eternal, physical life isn’t quite worth much when you’re stuck in one spot with nobody else around. That and it’s a totally killer Rush tune.

I thought it was okay. Entertaining.

the aliens, monkeys and his Tarzan son were a bit of a stretch.

but it’s an Indy movie, right? 😉

My dad will LOVE it. :yup:

I saw it last night and thought it was very entertaining. It still had the classic Indy chase scences and action/adventure to be expected. Even though he’s older now, Harrison Ford did a convincing job that Indy has some fight left in him. I also liked the character of Mutt and that Karen Allen returns. Kate Blanchett makes an execellent villianess.

It seems like they pulled out all the stops for this one. As it turns out it’s like Indiana Jones meets E.T. or Close Encounters, but overall I enjoyed it.

Worst Movie Ever.

George Lucas has completely lost his mind. Either that, or he let a seventh grade boy write the script. The stunts were SO ridiculous and so many parts of the movie were unexplained.

I was seriously waiting for Jar Jar Binx to pop out of no where. Or Yoda to come out telling Indy to “use the force” and give him a light saber.

Lucas destroyed this movie like he did the Star Wars prequels.

Ugh. I am so disgusted. I want my $10.50 back.

Worst Movie Ever.
It was so bad I wanted to walk out after the first 30 minutes but I held on just because it’s an Indy movie…what a mistake.

I seriously thought about asking for my money back; not because I actually thought I’d get it back, but just to make a statement to the management on how really, really dreadful it was.

it was fun for what it was, my problem was the HUGE plot hole.

and the nuclear blast was cool, but still very scary.

and the ants, i need to look those up to see if they are real.

Ha! I know the feeling. As soon as DH and I saw the credit that said “Written by George Lucas” we knew we were in for a piece of…you know what.

I’m not thrill about the movie but it made 100+ mil over the weekend. Was it that good or just hype ?:coffeeread:

There are definitely some things I would have done differently if I was a writer or director, but over all, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I feel sorry for people who can’t enjoy these movies for what they are.
