"Mr. Gay USA" -- They left out the moral component of the "whole person"!

"We want to show people that this is the ‘boy next door’ - their neighbors, friends, and sons – someone who can represent the gay community in a positive way," said Spradlin. "The winner will serve as a spokesman to raise the visibility of gay men, humanize gays in the media, create a positive role model and confront homophobia in today’s culture."

Sadly, I can picture Satan saying this as he slithered around the garden. “What’s the big deal?” Humanizing anything attached to the Culture of Death is exactly what we don’t want to do. The pervasion society is becoming more and more insidious…

Anna's Mom:
I feel that there are no “little people” “gay people” “black” “white” “big” “small” “mentally challenged” people are people folks! lets stop putting a label on eachother. there are just PEOPLE! If we all were to love and respect eachother for our individuality the world would be a much nicer place to live.
And who is going to determine which levels of “individuality” are okay? The individual?

You listed ones that don’t bother you. The Church, who is the over-arching moral authority on Earth, probably disagrees.

the God given natural revulsion to and discusting aspects of the homosexual lifestyle and sexual expression.
“God given”? :bigyikes: What is the basis for this? Christ was about love and understanding, not hate.

I remember several decades ago a woman told me how she got goose pimples if she was swimming in a public swimming pool and a black person got in the water at the other end. She would leave immediately. Is this God given too? :tsktsk:

Since I don’t think the Church opposes different ethnicities swimming together, obviously not.

Don’t defend an argument that you know is a straw man; it is the same thing that has happened with gay marriage.

The issue was initially compared to slavery, and even the NAACP said that was a ridiculous argument, and the two were NOT comparable.

God given via natural law.

Here goes another poster superimposing the word “HATE” upon the expression of a natural reaction of disgust to those who have not yet been indoctrinated and desensitized. This is called an attempt to distort and manipulate the argument. What would Jesus have to say about this tactic? 😦

Interesting point.

And he’d probably be wrong.

Disapproval or the recognition of evil as it exists is often labled as “hate”.

It is overused, and improperly used, as is the word “bigot”. Scare tactics to make those fighting for morality seem “mean”. Whatever, call me mean then.

Along these lines:
Code:
This spirit of rebellion which is so insidious in our American society, when carried to its ultimate consequences, is the cause of so many terrible conflicts and divisions. Parents, school principals and teachers, clergy and civic leaders who attempt to implement moral standards and discipline are criticized as being archaic, insensitive, unkind, and intolerant. In many cases, these people are persecuted and their reputations are destroyed through slander and false accusations.
Code:
In 1952, Bishop Fulton Sheen already saw the seeds of a deep problem emerging in our country when he wrote: "America, it is said, is suffering from intolerance. It is not. It is suffering from tolerance: tolerance of right and wrong, truth and error, virtue and evil, Christ and chaos. The man who can make up his mind in an orderly way, as a man might make up his bed, is called a bigot: but a man who cannot make up his mind, any more than he can make up for lost time, is called tolerant and broad minded".

So, Hitler was just a person…he wasn’t a megalo-maniac and mass murder…just a person. I am sorry, but I think your statement is deficient and lacking any intellect whatsoever. We are all individuals…some of us are disabled whether it be mentally or physically…some of us have depression…some of us are alcoholics, etc…that doesn’t mean we cease being people…but to lump heterosexuals and homosexuals together…or to lump Jews and Nazi’s together, etc. is just downright fallacious and wreckless if you ask me. Sounds like political correctness rearing its ugly head again.

He would probably say you have stooped to an ad hominem attack.

False claims and accusations further evidences that one has lost the basis for defending their argument and/or an attempt to obfuscate and manipulate the discussion when called out on to the carpet. I hate to repeat myself, but, what would Jesus have to say …

ad hominem, adj., defn; * Appealing to personal considerations rather than to logic or reason: Debaters should avoid ad hominem arguments that question their opponents’ motives.*

Note: I withdrawing from further exchanges of this nature with this poster as they are not in service of logic or reason in debate.

A black person cannot change his color.

Anyone can control what they choose to do with their bodies.

Christ was indeed about love. His definition of love seems to differ from some today:

“Whoever disobeys the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains upon him” (Jn 3:36)

“But you have this in your favor: you hate the works of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate” (Rev 2:6-7)

“The Lord is especially hard on people who disobey him and don’t think of anything except their own filthy desires. But their own corrupt deeds will destroy them…The darkest part of hell is waiting for them” (2 Peter 2)

I’m sure all of this pains the Lord and His propehts to say. Nobody in Christ wants anyone to suffer. But neither do we have a right to take away anyone’s free will.

**(CNSNews.com) - **One of the producers of the just concluded “Mr. Gay USA” said the weekend competition in Palm Springs, Calif., was much more than a contest about physical looks… …, “It is more about the whole person.”

“We want to show people that this is the ‘boy next door’ - their neighbors, friends, and sons – someone who can represent the gay community in a positive way,” said Spradlin."… a positive role model…"
It seems like there are several items that could be considered about morality, just not the Church’s morality.
