Got it in one. The hypocrisy of the person ‘calling out’ the failures of others while being blind to his own failures is pure Pharisee.
And sorry for the people who are tired of hearing, ‘oh it’s just abortion’, but I don’t care if people are offering planetary UTOPIA for ‘every person on earth’ if they’re excluding millions of unborn children any chance at life itself.
I for one don’t feel at all comfortable with the idea that everybody wants my ‘welfare’ (so long as they get to decide exactly what I ‘should’ have, and do, and for how long) now that I’m here, but don’t give two spits for the living beings in their mothers’ wombs because THOSE beings are ‘inconvenient’.
Guess what? We’re already seeing pushes in the medical field for the euphemistic ‘comfort care’ not only for the elderly but also for those whose ‘care’ may be a ‘burden’ to others.
We’re seeing pushes everywhere where people are inconvenient, despite all the bleatings of how we are trying to ‘save the environment’, ‘feed the children’, ‘STEM’ programs, female empowerment, counseling, treatment, blah blah blah.
All well and good provided you accede to whatever hoops are determined by your ‘superior’ or ‘manager’ that given day. . .unless of course you fall through the cracks, or somebody messed up your paperwork, or whatever excuse of the day comes forth.
I’m not heartless. I know that not every person in prison is necessarily guilty, that not every person who comes to this country illegally is looking for a free ride, not every man is a closet rapist, not every woman is a selfish witch, not every person of color is ‘dangerous’, not every white person is racist, etc. etc. I would LOVE to have people have a better guarantee of a life with his or her needs of food, clothing, shelter met and a reasonably equal chance for liberty and the pursuit of happiness. . .but oh wait, wasn’t there another thing there that can first, oh yes, LIFE.
Wouldn’t it be one of those paradoxical things if among those innocents slaughtered in the name of choice and freedom and equality and women’s empowerment were the people who could have brought about some of those Utopian ideals? A child killed in 1973 would be 47 this year. Possibly someone who developed an AIDS vaccine. Or hammered out a real Mideast peace deal. Or developed a ‘replicator’ or other food producer that ensured no more world starvation. We won’t know, will we?
