MSNBC’s Morning Joe rains hell on right-wing Christians for choosing Trump’s 'blasphemy' over Christ's teachings

In the last election, I asked myself, “would Christ rather I voted for the wicked or the misguided?”
Unemployment is down, particularly among minority groups that have suffered unusually high unemployment. Wages are up, especially for low-income workers. Workers’ pensions have increased greatly in value. The Little Sisters of the Poor no longer have to buy abortifacient insurance for their employees. Trump is the first president who appeared at the March for Life. No new war has started in the last three years.

And you voted against the man who brought those things about because somehow you thought him evil.

The streets of San Francisco, and very close to Nancy Pelosi’s residence, people are sleeping on the sidewalks, stepping on contaminated needles and defecating among those who reside there. She claims she supports abortion and homosexual “marriage” “because” of her Catholic faith.

And you excuse her.

Remarkable.

Trump is pro-abortion
You shouldn’t say things like that. Unfortunately, he is among the misguided people who would allow it to be legal in the cases of rape and incest; practically non-existent categories. But even so, that’s a fault.

But it’s a very long way from being “pro abortion” the way your Democrat candidates are, which is approving abortion on demand at every stage and making conscientious objectors participate in it and pay for it.

since he is for abortions in certain situations, he is for abortions. sort of like being a little bit pregnant is being pregnant,

Unemployment is down … wages are up …
It may be tempting to look to these gains, when thinking "would Christ rather I voted for the wicked or the misguided?”. But probably short-sighted/
Blessed is the man
who does not walk in step with the wicked

For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.

No . Abortion cannot be the only issue.
Are you saying that there are more important issues than life and death? You have something more important than that? WOW.
There are other life and death issues.

Her spirit is so mean she ostentatiously tore up a copy of his speech that he signed, and is supposed to go into the National Archives. She so hates the man that she probably committed a crime in destroying government property.
Making a show of tearing up her copy of Trump’s speech might not have been very classy, but to call it a crime is just ridiculous. I suspect that every member of Congress got an advance copy of the speech. You think they all saved them? Preserved them for the National Archives? Get real.

to call it a crime is just ridiculous
And you might have missed this.

Nancy Pelosi's Fake Crime World News
He rips up documents all the time, that there are White House staffers in charge of taping up the documents to preserve them for the archives.
woman_shrugging

Trump 's ripping up of documents that must, by law, be archived, is so common that there are staffers whose job it is to tape them back together. The charge against Pelosi is beyond ridiculous.

I’m not persuaded of that. I saw on tv that the two copies given to the Speaker and the VP are signed by the president. If so, they are 'duplicate originals", not “copies” and it would be unlawful to destroy them.

Good Grief.

Killing innocent people is killing innocent people, and no one should claim moral high ground because he supports killing only one out of a million.
Yes, it is. But we are often told by those that demand that Catholic teaching requires that we vote against pro-choice candidates that it is because of the number of abortions. So, the numbers do count.

Of course, I am gravely concerned that single-issue voting has damaged the abortion issue to one where a political solution is no longer possible. It is good to see that Bishop McElroy is also concerned about single-issue politicking

With all due respect to Bp. McElroy, if one supports killing of innocent children, nothing else has any real importance. Decrying “single issue voting” is simply a way to excuse oneself from taking a moral stand against the greatest evil of our time and place.

And to say that “single issue voting” makes a political solution no longer possible is simply to say that prolife people must compromise with pro-abortion people on that evil, not that supporters of abortion will somehow change if prolife people do. With all due respect to Bp McElroy, putting “climate change” (about which little is known and about which there are differing opinions) on a par with killing millions of children is extremely misguided and far more likely to encourage anti-life forces than single-issue voting on abortion is.

And some actually are puzzled at why so many young people and Hispanics leave the Church for Fundamentalist protestant sects who are not “single issue” exactly, but who teach that there is actually a difference between killing a child today and for certain, and exeeding a CO2 atmospheric level that has been ten times higher without ill effect on life.

Well, let’s then distinguish your personal views are not Church views and not pretend otherwise.

Are you blaming Bishop McElroy for young people and Hispanics leaving the Church?

It’s not important whether my views are on all fours with Church teaching. It’s much more important whether those of churchmen are. Sometimes that’s not the case.

I have no idea whether anyone has ever left the Church due to Bp> McElroy. It is not encouraging, though, to see churchmen present political positions as if they are Church teaching, and especially when, in doing so, they actually contradict Church teaching, and when there is not really anything worshipful about their speech or writings.

One small example is Bp. McElroy’s putting “white supremacy” on a par with abortion as an evil to be combatted. I don’t think I know a single white supremacist in a place where one would certainly expect to find them. I do know there’s a tiny clutch of them in the extreme southwest of this area; people to whom no one pays any attention other than law enforcement. They are a danger to nobody and don’t even remotely approach the numbers that existed when I was a kid.

But to put that on a par with deliberately killing a million children a year is just grotesque. And if it doesn’t warp a young person’s sense of moral equivalence, it certainly does tell him or her that high churchmen care more about political talking points than they do about human lives.

It does look like McElroy’s position was not that of the bishops’ group that appear to have voted in this instance. Good to see that.

You “saw it on TV?” Well, I guess that settles it.

What in the world are “duplicate originals?” Are they kind of like “alternative facts?”

It just boggles my mind what gains traction in the news these days.

Duplicate originals are what the term sounds like. They’re originals, of which there is more than one. There are a number of contexts in which duplicate originals are made or required, one of them being contracts. It is very common for contracts to be duplicate originals, with two or more of the same document signed by the parties. Sometimes they even say they’re “duplicate originals”.

Rather than simply be snarky about my having seen something on TV, is there some reason why you did not find a better resource if you don’t want to believe me?
