I agree. They probably found out on the journey just what was in store for them if they didn’t convert. And maybe they figured if he amassed enough wives that would lengthen their free time in the rotation before they had to submit to him again. Although I read one story that said he visited all 9 wives in one night. Sorry, but GROSS!!!

i would love to see a muslims response to this, i might, with InJesus’ permission, put this on a muslim website to see what feedback i get, InJesus, can i copy and paste it?
God bless

Perhaps this was why he made up the rule about the hijab. Chronologically it appears that the rules for hijab and modesty appeared about the same time as he married Zainab (the former wife of his adopted son). Perhaps with all the controversy surrounding that deal Muhammad knew he had to cover all the women up or he would get himself into more trouble. 🤷

BTW, Off topic, but I just have to say that the more I investigate Muhammad’s life, the more digusting and depraved I find him. I thought it was suggested that people don’t like him because they don’t understand him or haven’t studied his life. 🤷

the more i study islam, the more i think it was inspired from other sources other than muhammed. I know it took him 23 years to compile the book, but seriously, a single man making up all this stuff by himself, would get confused and have many more contradictions than it already has. This is why i think it is inspired by another ‘being’. And that other ‘being’ is NOT G-d!

If Muhammad was married to Maria, why would he ask Hafsa to keep it a secret? and why would he swear not to sleep with her again? first it doesn’t make sense for a man to swear not sleeping with his wife because of another wife and second Muhammad will be breaking his own teachings of justice between wives. Muhammad has been commiting adultry with a slave-girl in his wife’s own bed and when caught up, he gave concessions if kept secret, and when the thing became known , he created a verse in which he/Allah threatened Aisha and Hafsa of divorce and being replaced by other women, and therefore it was a threaten to all his women not to try and mess with him because they’ll “annoy Allah”.
I agree that the secret is problematic. It indicates that Muhammad was doing something he wasn’t supposed to be doing. I think it also has to do with the fact that he was sleeping with Maria on Hafsa’s day and in Hafsa’s hut whether or not it is decided he was married to her. Other than the immoral aspect, that’s just down right tactless!

From what I’ve read, the other wives were jealous of Maria because of her beauty and the attention Muhammad was showing her - especially Aisha. Which may be why Hafsa went and told the secret to her first - Aisha was supposed to be the favorite wife and Hafsa knew she would have an ally.

the hijab revelation was dependant on Umar’s thoughts :

Umar narrated: I said, “O Messenger of God! Good and bad persons enter upon you, so I suggest that you order the mothers of the believers (i.e. your wives) to observe hijab.” Then God revealed the verses of hijab.

Well, this is Allah we’re talking about. If he can swear by lesser beings, lie about the most fundmental belief of Christianity, contradict all historical evidence for the crucifixtion of Jesus, and create people and jinn just so he can send them to hell, than I guess in Islam he can serve Mohammed’s passions and wants. Because, you know, Mohammed is his prophet.

And I agree on the secrecy. People only make secrets when they get caught cheating just so their reputation isn’t harmed. Well, I guess Mohammed didn’t want his prophethood harmed. But the cat got out of the bag, so to speak, so he had to come up with an excuse to save face. And that’s how the surah came about. Don’t you just love a god who contradicts himself (“Thou shalt not commit adultery”)?

Don’t you just love it when his followers have to make excuses, saying ‘Mohammed wasn’t committing adultery, he was making up for the sex, and his wife knew that, so he didn’t want anyone to think he was committing adultery by telling his wife to keep it a secret.’

The problem is in the word “secret”: If what Mohammed did was good, he would have reminded his wife about her agreeement to leave; but telling her to keep what he did a secret just shows what he did was wrong. And a sin, according to the Ten Commandments. Oh, but I forgot, Muslims don’t follow the Commandments, and they consider Mohammed to be sinless. Silly me. I guess I should really be going by Muslim morality
  1. Fornication and Adultery
Ooh, right. Yeah. So I guess Muslims really don’t have any excuse for Mohammed’s behavior, except to say he didn’t sin, he just made a mistake. Even though what he did constitutes fornication and adultery. But hey, I guess that’s just my opinion and not Allah’s decree? Yeah.

Nothing is impossible when you have the almighty Allah in your sleeve.

While trying to look for an info, i found this scenario on the net (seems everyone but Muslims see how scandalous this is):

Hafsa: “Rasulullah you lied and and deceived me to sleep with my maid”?.

Prophet:” Hafsa mind your language. Aya 33.32* says you should talk to Allah’s Prophet in an a honorable manner”.
  • 33.32 “O wives of the Prophet! Speak to the prophet in an honorable manner”…
Hafsa: “I will speak honorably to the prophet when the Prophet stops acting dishonorably himself”.

Prophet: “Having sex with slave girls is not dishonorable. Allah has made* them halal for me”.

33.50 “Mohammed , sex with slave girls and captured women is halal for you

Hafsa:” I don’t give a rat’s behind who is is halal for you and who is is not … You can have sex with a she camel for all I care. But I don’t want it in my bed and on my night”.

Prophet: “Hafsa ,calm down. I will tell you something. If you keep this incident a secret between you and me and don’t tell any one, I take an oath that I will never touch Maria again. And Please cool down first . Go have a drink of cold water…

Later on…

Hafsa: “Rasulullah, You have a short memory. You had just said you will not touch her again”.

Prophet: “Yes I did, but Allah revealed aya 66.1 after you left, it says “Mohammed why do you forbid yourself what Allah has made lawful to you just to please your wife”

Hafsa: “What about the oath you took.”

Prophet:: “Allah dissolved my oath” by aya 66.2 which says Allah has ordained for you the dissolution of your oath. And Allah is your Maula”.

Hafsa shouldn’t be angry for finding a woman in her own bed and her own turn! but Allah says to hell with her feelings since Muhammad wanted to sleep with another woman, on her bed, on her turn, and if she doesn’t like it he will divorce her.

I mean, this is beyond scandalous.

Under Muslim law, adultery (extramarital sex in general) is sexual intercourse by a married person (whether man or woman) with someone to whom they are not married. Adultery is a violation of the marital contract and one of the major sins and is condemned by God in the Qur’an. Zina means consensual premarital sex.

Qur’anic verses prohibiting adultery include:

“Do not go near to adultery. Surely it is a shameful deed and evil, opening roads (to other evils)” (Quran 17:32).
“Say, 'Verily, my Lord has prohibited the shameful deeds, be it open or secret, sins and trespasses against the truth and reason”’ (Quran 7:33).
“Women impure are for men impure, and men impure are for women impure and women of purity are for men of purity, and men of purity are for women of purity.” (Quran 24:26)

Though strict Muslim law prescribes severe punishments for extramarital sex, by both men and women (premarital sex is punishable with up to 100 lashes, while adultery is punishable by stoning), to obtain conviction of zina[consensual premarital sex], the act of sexual penetration must be attested by at least four male Muslim witnesses of good character, with the accused having a right to testify and their testimony given the most weight in the eyes of the judge(s). Also, punishments are reserved to the legal authorities and false accusations are to be punished severely.[23][24] It has been said that these legal procedural requirements were instituted to make it impossible to obtain conviction.[25] (It should be noted that the above punishment of stoning is never given in the Quran but only in the Hadith. The only punishment for adultery given in the Quran is one hundred lashes and restriction of future marriage to another adulterer or the partner in the act).

Conditions for adultery:
The accused, before the accusation, must be known as a practising Muslim.
The accused must possess common sense. The accused must not have been in an intoxicated state of mind while the act was committed.
The accused must be an adult.
The accused must have committed adultery of his/her own free will.
There must be four male witnesses (or pieces of evidence) to support the accusation (of sexual penetration).

A hadith confirms this:

Reported by many companions that Ma’iz went before Muhammad in the Mosque and said, “I have committed adultery, please purify me.” (In another report, Muhammad asked Ma’iz that the reports he heard about him are correct or not[5]) Muhammad turned his face away from him and said “Woe to you, go back and pray to Allah for forgiveness.” But the boy again came in front of Muhammad and repeated his desire for purification. The act was repeated three times, until Abu Bakr, sitting close by, told the Ma’iz to leave, as the fourth repetition of the plea would get him stoned. But the man persisted. Muhammad then turned to him and said “you might have kissed or caressed her or you might have looked at her with lust (and so assumed that you committed Zina)”. Ma’iz replied in the negative. Allah’s Apostle said “did you lie in bed with her?” Ma’iz replied in the affirmative. He then asked, “did you have sexual intercourse?” Ma’iz replied in the affirmative. Then Muhammad got quite uncomfortable, and asked “Did your male organ disappear in the female part?” Ma’iz replied in the affirmative. He then asked, once more, whether Ma’iz knew what Zina means. Ma’iz replied “yes, I have committed the same act a husband commits with his wife.” Muhammad asked if he was married, and he replied “yes”. Muhammad asked if he took any wine, and Ma’iz again replied in the negative. Muhammad then sent for an inquiry from the neighbors of Ma’iz, whether or not Ma’iz suffered from insanity. The replies all came in the negative. Muhammad then said, “had you kept it a secret, it would have been better for you.” Muhammad then ordered Ma’iz to be stoned to death. During the stoning, Ma’iz cried out, “O people, take me back to the Holy Prophet, the people of my clan deluded me.” When this was reported to Muhammad, he replied “Why did you not let him off, he might have repented, and Allah may have accepted it.”

Ah, so there’s no witnesses to Mohammed’s act, so it’s not adultery. I guess his wives didn’t know what he was doing, since they were surprised by what he had done. Ah well, such is the law of Allah.

If that’s true, then either Allah is a demon or Mohammed is a textbook account of an abusive husband.

what i quoted is a scenario created by someone and not something found in Islamic literature, though his scenario isn’t that far…

as a side note, the hadith says that Muhammad’s mouth foamed and he roared like a camel and he swooned and looked like intoxinated when “inspired”. Does that remind you of something?

Mark 9 verse 18 says…

18 And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out.

Ok that was a digression sorry.

I just found this: jinn exorcism.

I hope to get answers about the original question from Muslim posters, other than what Muslim Woman wrote.

oh is that why??? yes, that answers everything…
There isn’t anything in this thread worth responding to–like Muslim woman said: truth intentionally mixed with falsehood.

As long as you’re making stuff up as you go–why should I even bother reading? You haven’t the power to damage Islam, and I haven’t the power to give you guidance. 🤷
