It is not for sensationalism but context that I have shown these horrible pictures, and to include the nuns in that group was to highlight that obvious contrast. Amazingly, some do not see it. What you might conclude as the difference between those groups of women may not be theirs. I think most Muslims conclude all women should cover and dress like that. Period. Regardless of vocation or personal desire, or personal belief; and civil law should support their religious views with civil and criminal punishment like those pictures depicted in my post.
The differences in culture and religion must be explored for any semblance of peaceful coexistence if there is to be any, or we can acquiesce to that view as Islam mandates. Personally, I refuse to give an inch to that ideology. Some things might be insurmountable, and if they are we should know what they are. Hiding ones head in the sand is not prudent.
The sensibilities and sensitivity of some people are often shocked by exposure to cruelty and barbarism, but obviously not everyone is offended; for those acts are being committed by and defended by Mohammedans justified by their god, messenger, and holy book.
The Qur’an and hadith formulate the basis of morality and jurisprudence in the Islamic world with a clear rejection of Western style democracy and idealism which is based upon Judeo-Christian principles. That is the conflict that is not being discussed, but should be the only topic to be resolved one way or another rather than debate the individual elements of violence.
It is in the name of that Islamic morality and sense of justice that Muslim posters here defend beating their spouse- by toothbrush or by fist is hardly a point to argue imo. That same defense is raised with respect to killing Muslim apostates, honor killings, public flogging for acts of impurity, and jail or worse for questioning the “perfect humble character” of Muhammad.
Some (mostly Western) Mohammedans reject the violence prescribed by their faith, but they are few and not very well represented in this form or the world at large and are largely rejected by other Muslims. However you define Islam is irrelevant. How some fringe Mohammedans define it is irrelevant. It is how the majority; both Sunni and Shiite define Islam that non-Muslims should use as a definition for
unity of their faith.
