Though the Mountains may fall (it was pretty embarassing. I had bumped the headstock on my Taylor and one of the B strings was way out of tune. It sounded really bad so I had to just use the bottom strings. Our Heavenly Father has delightful (if embarassing) ways of keeping us humble!.
For God alone my soul waits in silence By Scott Soper was our Responsorial.
The Deacon preached on 'Lillies of the field" so eloquently that I changed the Prep song from "Isaiah 49 to John Michael Talbot’s “Lillies of the Field.” We did 2 verses for prep and then the third as a meditation after Communion.
Communion were old favorites: Only in God and I have loved you.
We closed with Blest be the Lord. another old fav.

I agree that God keeps us humble. Its easy to become full of one’s self. One thing that always humbles me is when I get sick and I can’t sing for mass or play music properly. Without God humbling us, we run th danger of serving with half of our hearts - believing that it’s all about the abilities of one’s self - and forgetting from whom it came from.

My music minister made a good point in his announcement before the end of Mass on how today we sing the Alleluia-oriented hymns because we bury the Alleluia today until the Easter Vigil. It’s always sad to see the Alleluia have to leave!
 
Now that tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, I am praying to God we do not do “Leave the Past in Ashes” during the imposition. I have an overwhelming feeling we will, though. :o Hopefully if we do do it, it will only be tomorrow.

I’m kind of hoping that we will do “Again, We Keep This Solemn Fast” as the processional tomorrow evening. We did last year, and it has to be the best hymn to start off Lent, besides “Led by the Spirit” or “The Glory of These Forty Days”. Hopefully the processional isn’t “In These Days of Lenten Journey” or “Beyond the Days”. Then, I am hoping the recessional is “Lord, Who Throughout These Forty Days”, but “Change Our Hearts” was suggested by the OCP planner, so that might have been taken into consideration.

Hi all. Haven’t posted in a while.
This is the 3rd Sunday of Lent. Woman at the well.
do you think we could do “Jesus met the woman” by Peter Paul and Mary? We’d probably do it before mass but maybe at prep.
We will also do Lamentation and other Lenten favs.
