For once a whole line of up of traditional hymns that I love.
 
I was serving at evening Mass today, and Father said the opening hymn would be “Seek Ye First”. Well, everyone was singing, and near the end towards the “Allelu, alleluia”, he said, “STOP, STOP, STOP!” Everyone just looked at him like :confused::confused::confused:

He said, “I didn’t realize this song had the A-word in it!”

I was dying.

It has been a tradition for the music director at my parish to do that one each year. If you think they can pull it off, have your parish do it acapella. It really “sets the tone”.

We can. We do this every year during the veneration of the cross. It also works in a round or with harmony. We even do it in two languages at once.

I’ve noticed as I have read the lists over the years on this thread that most of you rarely, if ever, post the setting you use for the Responsioral Psalm. Since all of the Hymnals we use include settings for most of the Psalms I would be curious as to what settings you all use. I know some use chant. For me, the contemporary settings by various composers offer beautiful interpretations of the Psalms. I always try to verify the words by noting the ICEL copyright.
Just curious.
