I love it too. I think William Chatterton Dix hs written so many beautiful hymns including the upcoming Epiphany hymn As with Gladness Men of Old. Apparently he was one of the first non-Catholic hymnwriters (he was Anglican) to have his hymns admitted to the Catholic church. This is the first year no one I worked for used āWhat Child Is This?āIt is one of my favorite Christmas hymns.
We sang it tonight! Beautiful! This is the first year no one I worked for used āWhat Child Is This?āIt is one of my favorite Christmas hymns.
I slipped it in twice. Hey, there is still Epiphany for that one. My wife and I slipped in Puer Natus yesterday. I wanted to bail, but she insisted. I am sick as a dog with a cold. Needless to say we sang it loooooowww.This is the first year no one I worked for used āWhat Child Is This?āIt is one of my favorite Christmas hymns.
I hope youāre over your cold. I know what you mean⦠itās death (or close to it) to a singer. I feel like my heart will burst whenever I canāt sing.I slipped it in twice. Happy New Year, everyone.
Welcome, and thanks for jumping in. You will find that we are a rather diverse group. On this thread (at least) we are careful not to argue or disparage what each other do, specifically because we are so darn diverse. My parish is blue collar, largely immigrant and musically poor. We have not one keyboard player of any kind, except me, and I canāt read piano music. I just fake a few hymns that I grew up with.Hi.
New to the group here. I am organist for a small church in Kent County, RI, with a sizeable Italian population.
I will echo pnewton. It is one of the nicest long-lived threads Iāve been a part of since joining the forums.Welcome, and thanks for jumping in.
