To Saint Peregrine
O great St. Peregrine, you have been called “The Mighty,” “The Wonder-Worker,” because of the numerous miracles which you have obtained from God for those who have had recourse to you. For so many years you bore in your own flesh this cancerous disease that destroys the very fiber of our being, and who had recourse to the source of all grace when the power of man could do no more. You were favored with the vision of Jesus coming down from His Cross to heal your affliction. Ask of God and Our Lady, the cure of the sick whom we entrust to you. (Pause here and silently recall the names of the sick for whom you are praying)

Aided in this way by your powerful intercession, we shall sing to God, now and for all eternity, a song of gratitude for His great goodness and mercy. Amen.

I have and will continue to pray for you po. You have been such an inspiration to me and to the rest of CAF members. I deeply apreciate the prayers and uplifting words that you have given me regarding my marriage. I pray that I can continue to grow closer to God like you have and that you may be healed if it is God’s will. Keep the faith and we will all keep praying for you. May God Bless You!

**Update: **May the Lord bless all who take up irreplaceable time for prayer on my behalf!

Praise the Lord, I am feeling fine (right now)! Yesterday was the first chemo session. Four different IV poisons. On the ride home, I began experiencing chill-like tremors, then lost consciousness for a minute or so. Woke up to rapid nausea. The local hospital found that my heart had experienced some arrhythmia-only half of it was beating for a few moments. So, I stayed the night in an ICU room. Doctor there wanted me to stay an additional day, but my oncologist convinced her that the chemo trumped any heart concerns. I went back to the cancer center for only one poison today. I also got a drug to suppress the Vagus nerve, which caused the whole affair to occur in the first place. I got a big dose of steroid, and a veritable pharmacy of medications to combat all of the side effects.

Long story short: God is great! He has used this not only to improve the prayer lives of those around me, but I am now constantly aware of His gracious mercy and love.

The peace of Christ to all.

p.s. maybe a quick prayer for my wife Elsa, who is a trooper, but under a lot of emotional strain.
 
I’m glad you’ve recovered somewhat from yesterday’s emergency. You gave your daughter and Elsa a scare, didn’t you! At least the doctors’ know more what to expect with you.

I praise God for your gratitude and your good spirits.

I am glad that you are feeling better. You, your wife and your daughter will be in my prayers. You continue to amaze me with your faith and courage, I pray that God will continue to be with you and bless you. Thank you for being such an inspiration! God Bless You! :angel1:
 
My brother-in-law got diagnosed with lung cancer on August 27. He is 53 and never smoked in his life. Both hs parents were chain smokers. They were getting him ready for surgery to remove 1/3 of the affected lung on Thursday September 3 when they found a spot on his lymph nodes. On Friday, September 5, he was diagnosed with some type of lymphoma, stage one. Not sure if it’s non-Hodgkins or Hodgkins. I don’t want to ask too many questions. He will be getting chemo weekly for six weeks. Then rest for a month. After that, they will remove 1/3 of the lung.

It is amazing how your whole life can change in one week.

His symptons were he had a cough for months that wouldn’t go away. He has pneumonia as well. Jim, you had said you had mononucleosis.

How strange that in our family, which is virtually cancer free, that Steve, my brother-in-law, would have the same cancer group. God is genuinely uniting us in prayer.

Jim, how are you holding up on the toxin treatments?

Cancer is very insidious, hiding behind common symptoms. Thank you for asking, Christine. I’m doing pretty well, considering. My appetite is good, even though I can eat less and less of what I like. My daughter began a prayer intention thread for me, that little sneak!

To update you about my brother-in-law. He was finally diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer that has spread to the lymph nodes in the alveoli and brachial tubes. He has a debilitating cough that cannot be suppressed and has already lost 15 lbs. He will be undergoing chemo like you, along with radiation. His chemo will begin 9/22/08 daily for 4-6 weeks. His doctors are very optimistic about his chances of remission, even though the statistics don’t support that.

You are giving me the grace to believe that you can really live through the treatment and that this type of cancer is beatable.
