My faith is better than your faith

This is distortive.

Catholics kill Catholics and non-Catholics. Non-Catholics kill non-Catholics and Catholics. "Christians’ kill Christians and non-Christians!

The actions of members does not make it ‘sanctioned’ by the institution. Although every member feels the repercusions, it does not destroy the substance. A Policeman who rapes, does not make it every Policeman is a criminal and the institute of law enforcement invalid and in error!

The differences are obvious and glaring.

Again, the point is being missed. Look at the title of the thread. Many have been killed because of this concept. You don’t think the Pope at the time didn’t sanction the persecution and vice versa with the Protestant leaders?

True, you can’t vilify the CC because of the sins of the leadership at the time, I understand that. However do you see how this concept causes so much strife?

Mutual respect!!

Granted. But you do understand that the Pope is NOT infallible continually? He is ALWAYS free to err as any other bishop!

The teaching he professes for the ENTIRE world, not just Catholics, is when he may invoke and cite infallibility. These are the ‘moments’ we look for the guidance of The Holy Spirit.

Look to Peter and his faults as examples! Denied his Lord three times AFTER being ‘given’ The Church and The Keys. Rebuked by Paul for ‘non-association’ when Paul himself acknowledges that Peter is lead Bishop, in fact I argue, it is because of that leadership that Paul faulted him.

There is a reason why not ALL Popes are saints!

As I read this, it reminded me of a story I read about Pope Benedict XVI’s cousin who is a Jehovah’s Witness. He also congratulated her for choosing the path that is right for her!

Check it out!!

Actually, he didn’t–not in the link you provided. Can you provide the quotation where you think he said that?

The pope applauded her church’s work and the fact that their halls are full. But he didn’t say that JW is the correct choice.

I obviously should have chosen better wording.

Here’s the best I can do:
She said that while her religious differences with her family had caused frustration, the Pope had encouraged her for following her faith.
“He told me that ‘You are doing the work that we should do’,” she said, referring to her church’s missionary work. “He said, ‘You have halls that are not too big, but they are full. We have cathedrals, churches, chapels and they are empty’.”
My apologies for putting words in the pope’s mouth.

I honestly don’t think “Ratzinger Pepi’” called her because his new job gave him the firepower to force her back into the Church.

Ecumenicalism is the promotion of unity and cooperation between distinct religious groups and denominations in Christianity and in the larger sense the unity among all religions worldwide. Jesus modeled this by associating with all people and castes.

**News Flash: ** People in other denominations have not denied Christ, not by any stretch..
NEVER said anything of the sort! However, those who still deny the Eucharist, even though it was initiated by Christ, documented in the bible, and is at least 1,500 years older than the entire Protestant movement, do appear that they are doing so only to differentiate themselves from the universal church. I know, I know, that’s not how they see it. It’s just sad, and a profound loss to Christendom, that’s all.

True! He also called them to repentance, rather than saying “carry on!” That is a big difference to me.

Of course you couldn’t care less - that’s because you DON’T have it and you know you don’t and you know that you have not a shred of legitimacy without it. Rather like Robert Mugabe in Zimbabwe not caring that he hasn’t been legitimately elected and therefore has no legitimate authority in that country, instead being swept away by dangerous delusions of authenticity.

So of course you have to manufacture some plausible excuse for why you ignore Christ’s promise that the gates of Hell would never prevail against His CHURCH (not churches) - y’know, the ONE church founded upon His apostles, the one that’s been there since the beginning. You simply AREN’T that Church founded upon the Apostles, the one to which Christ promised all truth, neither are you proof against the gates of Hell. 🤷

Now back to the real point - YOU said I was going against CATHOLIC teaching in saying that only the Orthodox and Catholics have Apostlolic succesion. Since you’ve no proof to offer that the Church has said otherwise than I’ve indicated, I presume you’ll be offering an apology for lying about Catholic teaching?
Oh please stop with your ranting. You will never scream and yell and ultimately force folks into your beliefs. Threats, lies and deceit couldn’t keep the Apostles from proclaiming the Gospel and the truth and it won’t affect me either.

Slightly incorrect. EO are in schism. That is the official RC states! EO maintain A.S, together with us

You are missing what I said and I am now thinking that you are diverting it purposely. I originally said that the RCC doctrine says that it is the one true Church that Christ founded.

Um, SIA, maybe the caps are for emphasis?!? There are some of us who genuinely wonder what you are doing here, if you are treated so horribly. What on earth did you expect at the world’s largest Catholic site, Protestants?

Generally, if you come here asking, all is OK. If you come here spouting, you will encounter the CDF (Catholic Defense Forces). And, this is somehow mistreating you? Please, let’s dialog.

Christ’s peace.

I’m a liar and deceiver now am I? Thank you very much.

you said that.
No,

You called what I said lies and deceit. 🤷 Thank you again.

No,

You called what I said lies and deceit. 🤷 Thank you again.
I hope you don’t read and understand Scripture this way. I never said that you (personally) are a liar and a deceiver. I stated that the information itself was as such. Big difference.

Yeah, information which largely consisted of my own personal opinion. It’s not like I was quoting reams of Catechism or scripture or anyone else’s thoughts.

How can I not personally be a liar and deceiver in your eyes if my personal opinion which I gave you consists of lies and deceit?

I’m not going to respond to anymore of this petty nonsense. You know very well what my point was here. Enough of the game playing already.

There’s nothing petty about calling you to account for what you say, just as you’ve called me and others to account for what we’ve said. Nor is there any ‘game playing’ involved in doing so. It’s a serious business - isnt there a bible passage about how we will have to account to God for every idle word we speak?

I’m well aware of that passage, and so am happy to freely admit that I vented somewhat at you, for which I heartily apologise. But that accountability applies to you too.

And do tell us, what is your point here exactly? I mean apart from calling all and sundry names of various kinds because they passionately disagree with you? Did you expect them to do otherwise?

Yep, that’s a world of difference. 🙂

Some Cathollics believe that Catholics do everything better. Hah!

Catholics have a lot to learn from some other Xian denom’s.

I couldn’t care less what other churches the RCC acknowledges as having A.S. ** I am saying that the RCC only believes that only itself is the Church Christ established,** not the Eastern Orthodox.
My apologies, SIA. I have re-read your post ‘properly.’

The portion of your post that I’ve emboldened is also correct for a very simple reason. Lineage!

The Church that was called ‘Catholic’ by Ignatius continued for a further 200 - 300 years BEFORE the schism to the East. (EO) The same “Catholic” Church continued for about another 1700 - 1800 years BEFORE Henry decided to cut off his own ‘version’ of The Church for his Kingdom.

Yet the same “Catholic” Church that Ignatius referred to has continued along the same lineage from The Holy Lips of Christ to the present. WE currently know Her as, RCC.

Now, if East and England DEPARTED from the lineage, which of the three would you support in their perspective?? Common sense would naturally opt for the CONTINUAL LINEAGE !!..wouldn’t it??

But, as you are aware, there is a continuous onslaught on that lineage, for no one wants to admit that they are ‘away from it’ and standing in “error,” as it were. Instead of conceding in humility and come Home, we have, among other stupidities, the preposterous contention that “It’s O.K!! We are all O.K if we just remain in whatever faith we are in and be good people!!”

Hence the point of the ‘arguments’ in this thread. **
IT IS NOT ALRIGHT!!**
