Well Lorekeeper isnt directly based on that franchise alone, its more like taking all those things and show whats happening, the world of escapism and imagination is in an iron grip of crude realism, tragic endings, bittersweet endings, tragic romance. And messages of moving forward, noble sacrifice, and being grateful what you have has become twisted into a means a means to target characters that people relate to and crush their spirit

and I feel like I have to, I have to reincarnate these characters, give them the happily ever after they were robbed

I feel like their screaming in the void begging for a happily ever after

Because they represent people in real life who want such things

and when they are made into tragic and bittersweet characters they tell the people who they are supposed to relate to this

“You want this? Well guess what. YOU CANT HAVE IT. YOUR A GLORIFIED SACRIFICIAL LAMB, BE HAPPY FOR WHAT HAD HAPPENED BECAUSE THAT ALL YOU CAN EVER GET.”

I understand you are deeply invested in these stories.

I was kinda being metaphorical, I know that they aren’t real. I have a bad habit of being hyperbolic about what I mean

Why not take a step or two back and create your own characters with their own story?

I have, 7 in fact, they are part of said story

But if I just use them then I wont be able to make my point, I have made other characters based on ones who got a tragic/bittersweet ending in order to make my point

and the 7 with their own story represent those who are sick of mention inspired characters getting that treatment

Then if you have created the story to fit what you deem a better ending…why are you still upset?

I guess I’m afraid the majority of people whom George RR Martin, corrupt Hollywood, and the internet, got their tentacles wrapped around will reject it. I’ve hear countless of people online say my concepts are insane

So in your fear of rejection you errr explode your fear into ramblings??

I’ve kept it to myself and my therapist, this is kinda the first time I put it out on a forum which I realize now its stupid

Well…Maybe they just want something original? Not based on other actual characters? Even though the word “insane” is not very kind to use.

They mean the idea of characters who end up a noble sacrifices cant be resurrected period. Only good romance is bittersweet romance. The closest thing of a happy ending is a bittersweet ending. If these characters are not dead, they are invincible despite the physical and emotional trauma they go through. And of course which probably doesn’t surprise everyone “we shouldnt be preaching religious themes into fiction”

That “The Favorite Character” has to die and have heartbreak and never come back.

and if you don’t agree with any of these things or find such concepts meaningful, then you must be an “aspie” “crybaby” or “an selfish entitled sunshine and rainbows fanboy” or “insane/somethings wrong with you”

So…people have different tastes. But you write what you enjoy to write. (As long as it is clean.) And people will either like it or not. If they use derogatory names, just let them go.

It just stories get more bittersweet and tragic every year and its making younger generations more miserable or willing to accept too much wrong and abuse

…says who? And there have been bittersweet stories since ancient times. And you are only talking about one genre.

Im sorry I dont know where Im going with this Im trying to write but my fear of being rejected and mocked has me in a spiral and like I said, I just exploded into this forum with my mind not being clear, probably still isnt right now

the audience and fellow writers simply because I didn’t meet the “new expectations” and “New Standards” or whatever the likes of George RR Martin says is good writing, I’ve notice in online writing forums they seem to hold up him as some sort of test and if one’s work doesn’t hold up to their Glorious Leader George RR Martin then nobody will like it. The modern audience even seems to imperialistically impose their tastes and preferences onto others often by means of guilt and using rhetoric like “sunshine and rainbows” or “entitled fanboy”

Then find a different writing forum? Quit the writing forum? Try a different genre? Take a creative writing class?

I dont want to give up a genre just because a group of edgy elitists are telling others what to think is good writing and what isn’t. These genres don’t exclusively belong to them or anyone. They idea that epics have to be strictly bittersweet and tragic and only sitcoms can have happy things are in my eyes are unreasonable rules invented by a modern audience that think too highly of themselves

I don’t mean to be that “back in the 90s” guy but back in the 90s and 80s there was an even amount of sweet/bitter/bittersweet stories and everyone was cool with each others tastes and preferences and didn’t resort to ad hominem or used their own tastes and preferences to boost their ego and act all superior to everyone else
