My parents don't like when i draw demons

If it’s a small thing to you, and it upsets your parents, then as a kindness to them, don’t draw the horns. Offer it to God as a little penance.
 
And how are those things predetermined by society? By being used. Intent matters. If someone goes around drawing horns to evoke demonic shorthand that’s a problem (his presence at the feet of St Michael notwithstanding) but if they just draw them because they like the look of horns, that’s not.

Should artists be careful with their own motivations when they use horns? Yes. But so should you.
When you insist the devil is present where he is not, you are the one reinforcing his presence in those symbols.

Edit: I’m not implying you aren’t an artist, I mean so should you when you view them.

Present in this case meant associated with. And yes, if you are the one going around seeing and pointing out the demonic imagery in artwork that did not have that as its intent, you are the one increasing the association.

Yes, there are irresponsible ways an artist can use horn imagery but mindless and/or coincidental use is not one of them.
 
I don’t know how old you are but if you are a minor and a devout Catholic then you should be quite familiar with the concept of honoring your father and mother. You should not seek out advice contrary to your parents because they are the ones with the authority here not us.
 
Your parents don’t have to see your drawings. If it bothers them so much, just don’t put them out in the open.

Also, your mom crossed the line threatening to rip a the drawing made by their ADULT child. Heck, even if you were a minor, she’d be crossing the line for threatening to rip up a benign drawing made by you. Unless it’s something that can destroy your reputation if it gets out, there is no justification. Destroying children’s stuff signals a lack of respect on the parent’s part for their children as individuals.

Yes, honor your parents. But, that does not mean you have to obey even the most irrational rules they have. Just ignore them and do what you do in private.

Why not draw animals then. you have talent , draw some of the endangered ones and raise some awareness.
Rhinos and those poached for their horns, or that pangolin of Asia. It is killed for its scales and would make a great art subject with the textures and shapes.


If reading the Bible there are descriptions of horned and winged beasts that you could interpret into art

Ive done all of that, i recwntly drew rhinos and cheetahs on large cardboaed for a safari set up for a church event
 
You could say that about the Nazi symbol which is very ancient, but as Westerners we generally associate it with Nazi Germany and all that went with it. Symbols are very powerful, and as a young person gifted with an artistic talent, it is natural you should want to shake up what you perceive as the boring fogies who seem to have allowed the world to get into a right mess. Be aware that there are a lot of people who misunderstand the best will in the world and those who are DETERMINED to misunderstand. As an old fogie I have no idea what a sailor manga moon is other than it is part of a Japanese cartoon art form, so you see I misunderstood your intention…I thought it was some weird occult creepy, zombie thing.

I may need to get my eyes checked. I first read the title as though the parents didn’t like the OP drawing lemons. I was scratching my head to figure out what was wrong with the still life genre . . . 😆

Would it be okay for you to show us some samples of your artworks related to Catholism? I’m just curious; cos’ based on the drawing you’ve posted before, I can tell that have a great artistic talent.
 
I see more and more “Horns” popping up these day…I wonder why ? 🤔

PS I know why, and so do a lot of other people know why.
