MarthaSo,

I am very sorry to heard this new.
But you have to remerber that you have just had statistics. Not a definitive diagnostic. And at your age, it is normal that it is higher.
So, I will said: try be prepared to this possibility the best you can, and I don’t know if it is really possible. But in definitive the baby can be completely healthy.

I pray that you stay unite with your husband.

It exists goods interet websites where you can learn the testimonies of parents of children who have died very quickly after birth. I see that you read them. If the parents have trusts in God’s will, and you find the testitomies encouraging for you, I think it is a good thing.

There is the story of Bella the child of Rick Santorum. He has write a book with his wife on her. He reaches the 10 years of age, with the help of heavy treatments, despite the prognostic.

I offered you my prayers.

I have a very dear friend of mine whose fourth baby passed away from a genetic disease that was incompatible with life.
I think the baby lived long enough to be brought home and she passed away there. This happened long before we met but she is a beautiful person with a beautiful husband and she went on to have five more children. All of her children are total rockstars…faith filled, smart, driven, and lovely.

I, myself, was given a difficult diagnosis to hear during the second trimester of my third baby. The chances of her being born with a chromosomal anomaly were significantly higher than normal. I worried myself to death but kept going and tried to move forward.

She was born healthy and is a wonderful, three year old, ball of crazy love and mischief.

God is here for you, I’ll say some prayers.

Thank you so much for sharing and your prayers, that must’ve been a difficult waiting period as I’ll come to know. God bless your precious family.

Thank you so much Anicette, for your kind private post and this post and especially your prayers. God bless you.

I’m so sorry to hear about your son’s possible diagnosis and your doctor’s cruel reaction. Even if worse comes to worse, your baby’s life is meaningful and precious. I will hope and pray for the best though!

Thank you so much for your kind words and your encouragement and prayers! God bless you.
I called the office and asked them to please change my primary doctor to another one, (there are several in one office) that way when any new results come in that doctor will not be the one to call me anymore with results. Hopefully they honor my request.

This is the condition that Bella Santorum has. As far as I know, she’s still alive, despite being past 10 by now.

You have my prayers.

For some encouragement, it was suspected both my biological daughters had chromosomal problems. I was 45 (almost 46) and 47 when they were born. Both completely normal. Don’t lose hope.

You and all of your family will be in my prayers. I’m glad you have requested a new doctor and if you get the same response continue to find a doctor that will support your choice to let your baby continue as long as God plans. Call Catholic Answers if you need a person you can call to find a pro-life doctor.

I have a son born with spina bifida and I did not do the alpha fetoprotein test so we were not aware of my son’s diagnosis. My husband is not Catholic and his family is very pro-choice as well as most people around me. I often wonder what would have been said to me if we knew of my son’s diagnosis. You’ve already proved to Matthew how you will protect him. Your standing up to your doctor has already made an impact. We don’t always know how we may change or bless someone, but someday all will be revealed.

Thank you so much for your encouragement and prayers!!God bless you .

Thank you, I wasn’t told the test was optional I would not have taken it. But I trust that all happened according to God’s plan. God bless you and thank you for your encouragement and prayers.

Have you had an appt with Maternal Fetal Medicine? You may want to ask for a referral. They can do a better ultrasound and check many things that way. There are markers that they will look for. I never considered abortion, but I did want to be prepared. There is nothing wrong with gathering information.

A child, even a second old, is still a blessing and again, being a mother/parent too may have a start but never has an end, not even after death. You alone would forever be the baby’s mother and that’s a blessing no one can take. Have you considered an infant baptism, maybe ASA the baby’s born?.
Courage in all endeavors and am encouraged by your faith. I’d be praying for your family.

Hi thank you. On Tuesday with the level 2 comprehensive sonogram it states MFM which I think is that. Thank you very much for the information.

Thank you so much for your kindness and prayers. Yes I’ve read stories of baptism and would do the same. God bless you

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with Thee! Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, Jesus! Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Before my last child was born, they wanted me to have testing which I declined. I told them I was having the baby no matter what the test report said. The doctor said then under those circumstances, yes, there is no need for any tests. My son was born normal and healthy. As you see, many people on this thread have had healthy children despite what doctors have warned about. I pray that your child will be healthy and fine.
