My religion is better than your religion

Thanks for that explanation… I see bishops today as men, not supernatural.

The truth is, Divine Laws are written by men and really only pertain to Catholics… which is fine. In my religion having a vasectomy is not a sin.
By what authority does your Church have the ability to say whether a vasectomy is a sin or not?

Marriage is sacred. Man and woman in love hold nothing back from each other including the chance to bring life into the world. Marriage is not for pleasure, but for love, sacrifice and children. The pleasure that comes from sex is an added gift from God. Arch Bishop Fulton Sheen said Man and Woman are not complete in each other until they have a third (a child)
I don’t agree with that at all… except that sex is a great gift from God.

BTW, I had three kids and then had my vasectomy… so I must be okay with the Bishop.

Oh I see, the word vasectomy is not in the bible so therefore it’s ok huh?
My church has no issue with birth control in general.

I don’t expect my church rules to apply to you, and I expect the same consideration.

Yeah, your church has drifted a long way from the Truth.
It’s God’s “rules” btw.

You have some personal problem with the Pope?
No, it’s just if you think Divine Law applies to me (a non Catholic), I’m wondering who is actually creating them.

And you can’t tell me that someone has a vision and boom there is a new church rule… I’m sure there are committee and such. I was just wondering how it worked.

And you are entitled to your opinion… it I saw it that way, I’d convert.

I think there is room for everyone, do you?

If I’m correct, you said that there is nothing prohibiting vasectomies in the Bible… not even close, only a rule made up but the Catholic church?

Let’s cut to the chase, who decided and when was it decided that vasectomies (birth control) is a sin in the Catholic church?
Well, first of all, do you believe in the doctrine of the Trinity? If you do, then by what authority do you believe in it? It isn’t mentioned in the Bible. It is essentially “a rule made up by the Catholic Church.” Do you believe in the Hypostatic Union, the doctrine that Our Lord was completely God and completely Man? If you do, by what authority do you believe it? This was also not articulated in the Bible and is “a rule made up by the Catholic Church.”

ALL Christian bodies agreed at one point that artificial birth control was sinful…until 1930, when the Lambeth Council, a gathering of Anglican bishops held ever ten years at the behest of the Archbishop of Canterbury, said that it wasn’t. Since then, the various denomination/eccelsial bodies, etc., have dropped like dominoes and given in. For 1930 years, Christendom (and I use that term advisedly) stood in agreement on this score (and artificial birth control existed since ancient times, condoms being made of sheep and pig intestines).

The Church has held since Her foundations that artificial birth control was an evil and until 1930, even those who split off from her agreed.

All that is in the Bible is true, but not all truth is contained in the Bible.

And you are entitled to your opinion… it I saw it that way, I’d convert.

That’s very “nice” and very tolerant, but what if it isn’t true? And this isn’t about “we’re number ONE!” This is about what is true and what isn’t.

There are many ways to avoid following the will of God. A vasectomy is one of them. What don’t you understand?

As for the Trinity… this is too long to post:

And as for birth control… it is a church rule, really nothing more.

Which gets back to my original thread: “My religion is better than your religion”.

If it’s true for you, fine… if it’s not for me, why care?

What I don’t understand is who said a “vasectomy is not a way to follow God”? Who created that rule?
