No, he wouldn’t. Having just gone through a lot of these types of interactions (minus the slap across the mouth) I can tell you first-hand that confrontations like that are not calming, they are escalating. Life is not the like the movies. Would YOU like someone to smack you when you are already charged up and feeling anger? I’ll bet not.Now, now, it would just be a disciplinary measure to make him calm down and to make him understand that his move was out of line. After he is done with his little tantrum, he will be able to have a decent conversation.

Yelling, screaming, hitting, crying - none of these causes a positive response in a conflict situation. Emotions just bounce around, wreaking havoc, doing further damage. The more calm one party can remain, the sooner the conflict can be dealt with in a rational way, to solve the problems.
You are just stirring up a response with your statements, fanning the flames. Grow up a little bit and get back to me.
