Things change - the Church has that right to change things.

Time to come to terms with the past.
Don’t worry, Eilish Maura. While Novus Ordo Catholics are contracepting themselves out of existence, the Traditional movement continues to grow; and Traditionalist couples have A LOT of kids. If this trend continues, eventually there will be far more Trads than NOs, the Church will recover her venerable traditions, her glorious past, and it will be time for YOU guys to come to terms. 😉

So, you now have documented evidence to equate the NO/OF Mass to ABC among Catholics?

And, you can document that couples that favor the TLM will produce more children of their Sacremental Union?

Please elaborate?

I was somewhat saddened to read this. You seem to make needless division. I’m a Catholic who prefers the OF (yes, I have been to the EF) and to have us all grouped to be non-practicing Catholics seems quite unnecessary and dividing.

And you wonder why so many people reject the catholic church?

My mom took us to mass when I was little. I’ve been three times in the last month, trying to sort things out.

I come here, looking for answers, and instead of finding a kind and caring envrionement, I find people clubbing each other to death over things that to me seem far less important in the big picture of things

thanks, Richie

A problem with a public forum is that you really can’t control the unchristian remarks of some of the posters. (I’m guilty of some myself.)

Are there items/issues that you have not gotten satisfactory answers to? Probably your best bet is the apologetics board if you have questions about beliefs/practices etc.

I’ll let you check it out to get your stats straight.

Sure, I’ll accept 4 million Catholics. It still is the largest diocese/ archdiocese in the U.S., and also in terms of area.

But that doesn’t change the number of masses listed on the Archdiocese’s website. Two TLM’s, with a third movable week to week.

We are used to your rant, “Beat LA., Beat LA” The Archdiocese used to be accused of being very conservative, and it still it. But, when it comes to English vs Latin, English comes out first. Spanish is a close second.

If you recall, I stated that,
Now, if there is no interest in the EF in the area, fine.
but your statement that the EF’s (or TLM if you prefer) time is past was uncalled for. It is obvious from our own area that some diocese have a greater call for it than others and perhaps a greater tolerance for it.

As to my “rant”, I was somewhat unchristian, however,
You declared this:
So, in the heart of Catholicism, the TLM is said in 3 places. Now those of you who keep telling us how wonderful this Mass is, it it hardly present. The TLM had its time, but it ended 40 years ago.
I would just like to know then, what exactly makes LA the heart of catholicism?

The largest Diocese in the U.S. is the Archdiocese of Los Angeles with in excess of 5 million Catholics.

There are TWO TLM masses weekly in the Archdiocese. There is a third which moves around different sites every Sunday.

With all due respect, things aren’t always as they seem. I am on a Catholic mother’s list and several members are from the LA diocese. They have signed multiple petitions to have the TLM offered in more parishes. The only answer they get from the Cardinal there is no. These women and their families drive hours every weekend to get to a TLM.

The availabilty of the TLM depends upon how open the Bishop and the priests of the diocese are to offering it. I live in MO and across the road from me is a Novus Ordo parish. The priest refuses to offer the TLM, even after about 25 people requested it. (We know we need to contact the bishop). Because of this, I drive 160 miles round trip every Sunday to get to a Tridentine Mass. You just continue to pray that minds are changed in this matter so it is more widely offered to those who want it.
