should we trust the protestant religions?

i think it could be a conspiracy on the part of the non Catholics to bring down the CC. they might not even realize what they are doing.
should we not be more carefull?

let s think about this: from the beginning of the Church we know how many have come against the CC.

then we had the reformation which continues to this day.

then we had VII which germanys and others anti Catholics tradition got envolved and we know what happen to the CC.

anybody have a thought on this?

Hi Wisdom,

The original “reformers” fought the Church, of course, But there is no evidence to show that “Protestants” today want to bring down the Church,

Just like Catholics try to convert Protestants, so do some Protestants try to convert Catholics. That is not a “plot”, Each one is doing what they think, in conscience, Jesus wants them to do.

The premis is errant because it denies the fact that NOTHING can bring down the Church. More malicious, better organized persons than the Protestants have tried.

The Protestant heresy is not to be trusted for obvious reasons. It has duped many Catholics in to leaving The One, True Faith for a man-made religion. The longer Catholics are exposed to Protestant error in the name of a false ecumenism, the more indifferent they will become, largely in part because they are pitifully ignorant in their own Catholic Faith. A few weeks back a local priest told his congregation that the Catholic Church was “more of an ecumenical, inter-faith church now.” As Venerable Pope Pius IX said…(see my signature below).

I would be far more worried about the lack of Basic Catechesis which has happened in the Catholic Church for most of the last 45 years which has lead to a lack of Faith in God and in the saving power of the Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, acceptance of the basic dogmas of the Catholic Faith, reverence for the LORD who is present in the Eucharist under the appearance of bread and wine and acceptance for the basic Dogmas of the Catholic Faith and for the Authority of the Apostolic Succession and the Apostolic See.

All of these concern me far more than any “Protestant Conspiracy”, because they cause Catholics to think it is OK can murder the Unborn and support candidates who support the murder of the unborn and to “pick and choose” (as a cafeteria) what Moral Teachings of the Church they have to follow and what ones they can ignore…

And, I’m sure we all know who the source of all of this is, and it isn’t Martin Luther, Calvin Swingli or King Henry VIII.
You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks according to his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
John 8:44 RSV
As our Lord Himself said, The DEVIL is a LIAR and the FATHER of LIES.
*Be sober, be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking some one to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experience of suffering is required of your brotherhood throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, establish, and strengthen you. To him be the dominion for ever and ever. Amen. *
I Peter 5:8-11 RSV
As St. Peter the Apostle (and 1st Pope) said, the Devil or adversary and is seeking to “devour” us and bring us down. And, St. Paul the Apostle reminds us that we are in a Spiritual War, and that we need to use Spiritual Weapons:
*Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Therefore take the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the equipment of the gospel of peace; besides all these, taking the shield of faith, with which you can quench all the flaming darts of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Pray at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints…*

Ephesians 6:10-18 RSV
We’ve got to teach Catholics the Word of God, Reverence for the Eucharist, Submission to Authority and that we are in a Spiritual War which must be fought with Spiritual Weapons.

I hope this makes sense.

Your Brother in Christ, Michael

World-wide Protestantism is dying. Only in the US does it have a healthy existance, but that is changing with the influx of predominetly Catholic immigrants south of the border. If its a conspiracy, its failing miserably.

I do agree with you. i have noticed this ecumenism only on the part of Catholics i have seen no change in the protestant religion. for what i have seen their attempts has been to change the Catholic Church to fit their beliefs. i have heard from my friend protestant s mouth. when i mentioned about protestant religion to come into the authority of the CC, her reply was: “I dont think so, the CC does not want to change.” she is a very educated woman.

We need to aware of the wolves clothed as sheep. our Lord warnings.

I continue to say that we as Catholics must be watchfull. i am not
saying that lay people is aware of this, they are followers. they dont realize. they are ignorant of the SS therefore they cannot know.

but i am talking about the higher hierarchy of the protestant religions.
are you aware of who was behind of waht happen in VII?
how was done? and the results of it? the desecration of the Temple of God? how so many left the CC?
I just heard my priest telling me that VII saved the Church. i was baffled by it but i did not say a word.

i dont know where you got that from… but i tell you that my country was 90% Catholic. but now the number has greatly decreased and protestants has almost the same numbers as Catholics and continues to grow and attacks on Catholics has grown.

and the country itself which supported Catholiscism for centuries has now begin turning against the CC.

Peace.

“Evangelical churches are particularly flourishing in countries such as South Korea and Latin America. 25 percent of South Koreans are Protestant Christians. In Latin America, which is the home to almost half of the world’s Roman Catholics, Protestant evangelicals have begun to emerge into the mainstream.”

“With more than 5 percent annual growth, the Anglican Church is Africa’s fastest-growing denomination.”

As validly-baptized Christians, Protestants are our brothers and sisters. We should not treat them as untrustworthy simply because they happen to be non-Catholic Christians. We should treat those who are untrustworthy as such because they are untrustworthy—this is a very small subset of Protestants as a whole.

Catholics are not separatists, after all.

Please try to understand my post. it is not about being divisive.

we need to becarefull about the wolves.

after VII, at least most Catholics agree and know what happened to the Church. do you know why? because some Catholics decided to be friends with protestants and decided to change many things in the CC. we know now that the results were devastated to the Church. in all these years we have not seen protestants congregations come in communion with the CC. what we did see was an increasing in protestants religions and many left the CC.

and this was the fruit of the VII.

Peace.

In our care to avoid wolves, we should not go to the length of avoiding our fellow sheep, even if they are not within the same fold we inhabit.

A lone sheep is better prey for wolves.

Hi Wisdom__,

You find yourself in contradiction not only with the Sacred Council, but with every pope since then. In his first address as pope, in the Sistine Chapel, Benedict XVI said this to the cardinals :
The current Successor of Peter is allowing himself to be called in the first person by this requirement and is prepared to do everything in his power to promote the fundamental cause of ecumenism. Following the example of his Predecessors, he is fully determined to encourage every initiative that seems appropriate for promoting contacts and understanding with the representatives of the different Churches and Ecclesial Communities. Indeed, on this occasion he sends them his most cordial greeting in Christ, the one Lord of us all.

I suggest you consider siding with the pope. As someone said, “I would rather be wrong with the pope than right with anyone else.”

Please, you misunderstood me. i never said i was not with the pope or even disobey the holy father. far from me such a thing.

i am not even speak against the CC.

if you read my post you will see that i am speaking against those who are trying to bring down the CC. please dont be naive on this one.
do you know anything about what happened in VII. who was behind and the causes of it.

i never blamed the holy father for none of it.

I do agree with you. i have noticed this ecumenism only on the part of Catholics

There has been a lot of ecumenical effort & co-operation on all sides in the last 40 years - and a fair amount before that.

i have seen no change in the protestant religion. for what i have seen their attempts has been to change the Catholic Church to fit their beliefs. i have heard from my friend protestant s mouth. when i mentioned about protestant religion to come into the authority of the CC, her reply was: “I dont think so, the CC does not want to change.” she is a very educated woman.

Pardon my saying this, but how do we know you aren’t one ? That’s the trouble with seeing conspiracies all over the place - anyone might be an enemy. A better way of destroying trust in one another’s good faith is hard to imagine 😦

Your fears are shared by many Protestants in the UK, who do not want ecumenism, which they fear as a weapon by which Rome will re-assert itself & destroy the faith which it burned their ancestors for holding. So the suspicion is shared - as long as it lasts, there will be no reconciliation. The only thing to do is to ignore it.

I used to be Protestant. I even used to be a Baptist minister. Believe me. There is no conspiracy. If there were, they would have invited me to their secret meetings.

Perhaps they’d pegged you for a “double agent”…

I think the reason why some Catholics believe in such conspiracies is simply a function of the fact that the only thing Protestants agree upon outside of the Nicene Creed handed to them by the Catholic Church is that the Church itself is fundamentally wrong and perhaps nefariously so. Nothing else serves to unify Protestants, who are at each other’s throats when not at ours.

We had the secret meetings, but we didn’t send you one because you were a Jesuit plant…😃 😃 😉
