I use the “quote” button in the post to “quote” which I can see you know how to do because you have done it.

If I break up a person’s quote to insert my own words I make sure that I use the code
at the end of where I want to end their statement.

If I’m including more of their statement then I type in the code
in the beginning and the code I showed you above at the end. (if I did it here it would just make a quote box)
Then of course before submiting a reply I look at it in the preview.
This is so I can be sure the post is going to look the way I want it to look.
There’s whole forum just for “testing” these funtions out.
Here is a link to said forum: forums.catholic-questions.org/forumdisplay.php?f=93
Thank you. This is very helpful. Your a good mommy.

I thought I explained myself pretty well. I suggest that you read Foxes book of martyrs and see the truth of the first 10 persecutions of the Christians by Rome and then the horrible persecution of the Catholic Church to anyone that stood in their way of consolidating their Popery in the know world. Just don’t feel like nit picking over everything. Your Church did it and to deny it is simply rediculous. Read the book.

I refer you to Foxes Book of Martyrs. You have to read it in small doses because it is so personal and savage.
And I refer you to any account of the persecutions of Catholics under Henry VIII and Elizabeth I in England, the horrific attacks going on even in recent times against Catholics in Ireland and such horrors as the entirely made-up anti-Catholic Titus Oates plot under Charles II. It hasn’t been a one-way street by any means.

lak, when you asked your question I did a google search.

I did find this web page: 65.66.134.201/cgi-bin/webster/webster.exe?search_for

However I waited for Lively Stone to post, because I thought he would have one.

Lively Stone can let us know if what the web-page would work.
That is he can compare it to his disk.

Edit: re-did link because the first time it was bad.
Thanks, Mommyof2green. I’ll bookmark this if Lively Stone says that it compares to his hard copy. 🙂

Yes that looks like the one.CD Rom is the same price. The Book is actually $5.00 cheaper at your site. I may buy the book one day. Just bought a new guitar so have to wait.
Thank you for the info.

God bless you mommy.

It looks like Lak got a new book mark! 😃 It’s not really mine I just did a google search and it was the first “free” searchable web-data based that I found.

God Bless

Yes it is a shame the atrocities that are done in the name of Relilgion. It is inexcusable in Gods eyes no matter who is doing it. I am very familiar with the Tudor and Elizabethan period and you are correct. When ol Henry VIII squandered the realms money he turned on the Catholics and took their property, sacred relics from their churchs, confiscated property, killed many, burned their churchs and continued his debachery. He was a madman.

There must be another way and that way is Jesus Christ and His Teachings.

I just realized I spent $25.00 for nothing. I didn’t realize it had a search engine for words. It is the same as the CD Rom.
Way to go mommy.

True, true :amen: :gopray2:

You are absolutely correct. We must pray for unity, not persecute each other.

:rotfl: Doesn’t that bite! Oh, I just love how that happens
You buy something only to realize that you could have gotten it cheaper.

Sometimes I just want to :banghead: when that happens but what are you going to do. 🤷

God Bless

Although it never hurts to have an actual book. I have many different Bibles even though they are available for free on-line. I prefer actually reading my Bible, rather than looking at the computer when I do so. I only use the on-line Bibles to copy and paste verses, so I don’t need to type them out. For my daily Bible reading, I use an actual Bible.

Oh I know I wasn’t trying to imply that.
It just the LS had made the comment on how he realized he spent $25 for nothing.

I’m sure we know that feeling. Go to the store buy something only to see it go on sale the next day. Or to find that the store next door had it cheaper, etc.

Same Here! 👍

That is a ligitimate question and I would be happy to share my point of view.

The English language has been evolving like all languages do, unless it becomes extinct. Until the 1700’s there were no common spellings of english words. They were basically sounded out by sylables. Sometimes a writer might spell a word several different ways.

English up to and including today is evolving and continually having new words added which is quite normal in the evolution of language… The secular progressives in our society are redifining words to suit the modern SP agenda. Many words found in the modern dictionary may have been taken out because of their religious connotation and being seen as not politically correct. I believe there are actual spiritual forces behind this.

I prefer the Noah Webster Dictionary for certain topical discussions because the words of that period were inclined to have Biblical connotation where applicable.

While it may not be as you say definitive, I believe it is a more appropriate definition in some cases. If I am doing research on the etymology of a word I seek other sources such as the Oxford Dictionary. I have a very nice set of the New Century Dictionary that I treasure.

I believe that Noah Webster did a good job. I am not a Greek, Latin, Hebrew scholar and so natually I look up my words in English dictionaries since that is my language.

Thank you. I have met other folks on boards who likewise favor the Websters, often making rather more extreme claims for what they see as its unique authority than you do here. And they seem to draw a connection between it, and their theology and view of scripture.

Yes I agree. However this was a dictionary. One of my hobbies is collecting Bibles. Don’t even know how many I have. I have a few Catholic Bibles. One in particular is still in the Box and I keep it as a collectors item as it is no longer in print. There may fascimilies available. It is the Jerusalem Bible. I am sure most have heard of it. Since it went of of print I believe the New Jerusalem Bible replaced it. Although I am a KJV only advocate, I do find that the Jerusalem Bible has the most beautiful Psalms wording that I think I’ve every read. Psalms 91 is my favorite. The Jews believed that if you read this Psalm 7 times that it has healing power. Who knows maybe it does. I often use Jerusalem Psalms when writing songs for inspiration as the wording is heavenly. I would not be able to study to show myself a workman rightly dividing the word of truth without my good old KJV.

Thank you Jesus for what you have done in my life.

No I think there is a place for the dictionary but it is like anything else not divinely inspired and that is it is subject to error. The true word of God is not.

I wish Jesus would come.

That just means that the HS will preserve him from error in faithfully transmitting the teachings of Christ, not that he is personally free from error.

Infallibility only applies to the teachings.
“faithfully transmitting the teachings of Christ.” WHERE in Christ’s teachings did He say that Mary was born without sin? WHERE in the red letters does Jesus say that Mary was assumed into Heaven?

It wasn’t until 1950 that Mary was offically declared “assumed”. Though you can quote any body you want from 100A.D. to present, you CAN’T say that Christ taught that Mary was to be given all of the titles that the catholic religion acknowledges.

165 Justin Martyr
202 Irenaeus
  • Contrasted Mary’s obedience with Eve’s disobedience.

    Fifth Century
  • Mary’s perpetual virginity accepted.

    Fourth Century
    • Mary as Theotokos arose in Alexandria. Opposed by Nestorius. Accepted at the Council of Ephesus in 431
    594
  • The doctrine of the bodily Assumption of Mary was formally develoed by St. Gregory of Tours
Sixth Century
  • Feast of the Assumption
1854
  • Pope Pius IX says Mary was immune to origional sin.
End of 4th century, taught in sixth century, speaking “ex cathedra” by Pope Pius XII in 1950
  • Dogma of Assumption.
Second Vatican Council (Lumen gentium 61-62)
  • “in suffering with Him as He died on the cross, she cooperated in the work of the Savior, in an altogether singular way, by obedience, faith, hope, and burning love, to restore supernatural life to souls”
  • Mary as mediatrix of All Graces.
Vox Populi Mariae Mediatrici (Voice of the People for Mary Mediatrix)
Petition for the Papal definition of Mary, Coredemptrix, Mediatrix and Advocate.
  • the goal of winning formal recognition of the “fifth doctrine of Mary,” which includes Mary as Coredemptrix, Mediatrix of All Graces, and Advocate for the People of God. The organization is currently collecting signatures that will be included with a letter to the Pope asking that he “define and proclaim the Blessed Virgin Mary as Coredemptrix, Mediatrix of all grace and Advocate for the People of God.”
1965
  • Mary proclaimed to be the Queen Mother of Heaven, God, Christ and the Church.
1985
  • Pope John Paul II declares that God will not forgive sins directly and that forgiveness of sins can only be obtained through a priest of the Roman Catholic Church.
Recently
  • The Vatican declared that they signs of somebody demon possessed was that they speak in tongues and that they have great strength.
(I guess that the apostles at Pentecost and Paul was “demon possessed”. Also, I guess Samson was, too.)

All of these are NOT teachings of Christ. If anybody declares these as infallible, then they are listening to a deceiving spirit and not the Holy Spirit. Paul says to keep “traditions” as he taught. Sure, he says that Jesus was born of a woman, but that was all.
Finally, if the catholic church put the Bible together, why not add those books that lifted up Mary? Why not mention those books who honored her more than the books in the Bible?
What is written is all that we need to know because the center of our focus should be on Christ: the ONLY One who fulfills all the Law and the Prophets. The Alpa and Omega.
