Okay, I’m getting antsy…I want someone to see this film. Some people have hated it; some think it is a masterpiece. made in 1998, it also stars Tony Shaloub, Alfred Molina, Allison Janney, Isabella Rossellini, Campbell Scott, Dana Ivey, among others. The director starred in it and he also directed and produced an earlier film about a restaurant. It gets a bit weird at times but overall is a good tribute to screwball comedies of the 30’s.

You can go ahead and tell now, MHalsey…Folks want to see it or move on in this game. In my weird book of game ethics, it would be better that you snuck a peak and told, than for me, the questioner, to give it away.

YESSSSSS! It IS “The Impostors” with Stanley Tucci (also directed) and Oliver Platt as two struggling actors in this odd tribute to Laurel & Hardy-type comedies of the 30’s. Kind of quaint, quirky, weird, dark, and silly.

Only one warning on “The Impostors”: the language gets a bit potty-mouthed at times, unlike the actual 30’s screwball comedies that knew how to be bawdy and clean (watch Groucho Marx).
