Hi @UpUpAndAway,

I am so sorry to disappoint you, my friend!

These brownies that I made were from a boxed mixed.

They were Triple Chocolate Brownies that had semi-sweet chocolate chips in the mix, and then the box also came with a small packet of hot fudge that you added in, to make them even more fudgie.

For homemade brownies though, I have followed the recipe from the Baker’s baking chocolate wrapper, and have made those from scratch. Those are wonderful!

These call for nuts in the recipe, but I don’t always add them in.

Here is the recipe, from Kraft Recipes website:

For Baker’s One Bowl Brownies:

What You Need:

1 pkg. (4 oz.) BAKER’S Unsweetened Chocolate
3/4 cup butter or margarine
2 cups sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup flour
1 cup coarsely chopped PLANTERS Pecans

Make It:

Heat oven to 350°F.

Line 13x9-inch pan with Reynolds Wrap® Aluminum Foil, with ends of foil extending over sides. Spray foil with cooking spray.

Microwave chocolate and butter in large microwaveable bowl on HIGH 2 min. or until butter is melted. Stir until chocolate is completely melted. Stir in sugar.

Blend in eggs and vanilla. Add flour and nuts; mix well. Pour into prepared pan.

Bake 30 to 35 min. or until toothpick inserted in center comes out with fudgy crumbs. (Do not overbake.) Cool completely. Use foil handles to remove brownies from pan before cutting to serve.

I’m drinking Pepsi right now. I burped pretty much throughout the test/study.

They wanted to schedule my surgery for this Wednesday. But I have to grocery shop for the month. So this week is out.

We were told that everyone there knows to work me in whenever I’m able to have the surgery. (My surgeon keeps a certain amount of each morning open for unscheduled surgeries. He just has to know when the patient is able to make it in.)

I want to wait at least a week since I’ve been recovering from the flu and have just had this test/study. My body feels like it’s been in a 10,000 car pile up and all of the cars have hit me instead of each other.

I think you were wise to reschedule, Lily. The body needs time to rest and recover or the surgery won’t go as well.

I know how you feel, to a certain extent. With all the stitches in my mouth - and there’s still some swelling - I feel like I was punched by Muhammed Ali! They wanted to do more surgery on me on January 16th, but I said, no, I need a little more time. My gums still feel like soft hamburger!

Good luck to both of us! 🙂

Amen to that, ConstantLearner. Ordinarily, I’d be all for getting the surgery over with since the temperatures are supposed to be above freezing until this weekend. But I honestly feel like I’ve been beaten to a pulp. If I hadn’t come down with the flu, I would’ve gone for it since a few extra hours of sleep makes me feel more like myself.

I remember my dental surgery a few years ago. I had my implants put in hours before a Moody Blues concert. (Second time I’ve had surgery before a Moody Blues concert and made it to the show. I told both drs I wasn’t letting my Moodies down and I’d go by ambulance if I had to.) I was okay during the concert. But the next day, I really felt it.

Shots of caffeine really help under these circumstances. Drinking my second glass of Pepsi. What I want is a giant (Moody Blues) mug of hot tea or lemon and honey and a long nap.

First time I had an implant, I was fine, Lily. It was easier than a filling. But it was in the back. These are two side-by-side in the very front, under my nose. Way more sensitive area. Besides injections for numbing, he gave me steroid injections to cut down on the swelling. And I had a bone graft. Then I had an unexpected reaction to the antibiotics and needed more injections in the same spot. Now, he wants to begin immediately on the bottom two implants. I said, “Whoa, no, I need a rest!” He’s also asked me not to wear a temporary bridge he made “unless I have to” so the area feels awful, with all the stitches.

By the way, I don’t ignore my dental health. Ironically, I’m always meticulous with it. I was hit by a truck when hiking. I may still need knee replacement surgery, and I need surgery on both feet. Like you, I just want to get all the surgeries over, but there comes a point where you need to let the body have some rest from the whole thing. It’s more trying than a lot of people realize.

My implants were 4 in the top and 4 in the bottom. And my dentist put on Moody Blues music through the whole thing. By the time he was finished, I made it to the concert with 15 minutes to spare. And one of the ushers there asked me if i was going backstage to see the Moodies after the show. I said, “Yes, I am.” (I had my backstage pass.)

The only thing unpleasant about that night was that while I was at the concert, Mama’s pin came out of her hip and she was in surgery a few days later and then in rehab when it was discovered she had an infection she had to recover from before they could go in and do the surgery again.

Every time the Moodies come to town now, we look at each other and say, “Ok, who’s going to need the dr after this concert?” (This time, it was me because they came on the hottest day of the year and I nearly passed out before getting into the Ryman. Getting two guitar picks that night was well worth it tho.)🙌

It was an ice cream night. (I never eat before concerts.)

Oh, your poor mother! A second surgery AND rehab AND an infection AND more surgery! I really feel for her.

I almost passed out from lack of food and dehydration the other day. Drinking some Coke now.

Tonight my husband and I went to KFC and ordered our usual large bucket of chicken, 4 ears of corn, and lots of fries. (This usually does us for 3 dinners), and they always ask us if we’re taking out or eating in 🤣 🐷

Too bad to hear about your accident. You must be a very tough person. I know one is also tough but might be considered unlucky. Late last year he brought his truck for a new set of forged wheels and lift kit plus brake job. His last truck was totaled when rearended on a stoplight. It was the 3rd time he was rearended (and one time t-boned) and had a couple of surgeries, yet he still coming back to the road.

I will have some tea and probably some broth as I have an upset tummy. Maybe I will sip on a diet ginger ale too.

Thank you. I can be tough about pain, etc.

I’m glad to read your acquaintance is going to be okay, and I hope his luck turns to the good!

Ginger ale usually fixes my stomach right up. One time I threw up everything for four months. Lost a lot of weight, but I did manage to keep most things down for two or three hours, so I was getting nutrition and fluids. Doctors could find nothing wrong, I didn’t feel sick except when I had to throw up, etc. I got some ginger ale, and after the first glass, never threw up again…yet.

Hope you feel better soon!
