For our dinner tonight we had leftover turkey thigh meat with turkey gravy, mashed potatoes, and yellow sweet corn. I served dinner rolls on the side.

Date night…hit the Mexican restaurant [again]…
Chips and salsa/pico de gallo, carnitas burrito a la diabla with chipotle sauce, grilled onions, rice, refried beans, and a tall Dos Equis Ambar.

Lucky. I was told I wouldn’t be able to have Mexican for 6 months to a year. 😭

Watermelon water.

Going back on liquids today. Not doing too well with the foods my surgeon wants me to try eating.

Hmmm… cheese is helping my tummy feel better. Think it’ll be the only food I eat today. Will drink more liquids.

Thank you. There are a few dissolvable stitches that my surgeon said might make me feel this way. As long as nothing but phlegm is coming out, I’m good.

I took a nausea pill but can only do that every 6 hrs. I decided to try some sharp cheddar bites and it’s helping.

Glad you found something that helps. The last time I had surgery, I was on rice cakes and oral rehydration solution for three days afterward just to keep functioning. NOTHING relieved my misery. 😒 Overjoyed that’s not happening to you. :+1:t3:

When I saw my surgeon the other day, he gave me a small list of things to eat. Mashed potatoes, applesauce, jello and ice cream. Cheese if it was thinly sliced. And of course, keep drinking my Boost, Ensure, Bolthouse Farms and V8 green juices. Water, water, water. I can have Propel but not MiO water enhancer.

He said, “NO hot dogs!” Can have hamburger and chicken in 2 weeks. They have to be ground up. Can’t have fish or anything else til I see him next month.

Even then, I may not be able to have my Mexican or Hispanic foods for a year which will make Christmas very different this year since he won’t let me have tamales or rice or beans for at least 6 months. That’s because my insides were so badly burned a few years ago (GERD, acid reflux and an overly enthusiastic neighbor who put tons of spices in everything instead of to the side). I’m still healing from that.

We’ll see what next month holds. In the meantime, I seem to feel better on my liquids than I do food.

Watermelon water, lemon water (Propel), jello, cheese slices.

Giving Mama the mashed potatoes. Throat is still too swollen to have them. Getting ready to make her sausage and biscuits.

Going to try yogurt. I really want fried eggs.

Do you fry 'em? 😍

Half a slice of an awesome pâté en croûte + water.

I remember having these savory hand pies growing up.

My family called them empanadas.
