The most recent truly lousy movie I’ve seen is “Black Swan.” I danced with NYC Ballet for twenty-two years, and I assure you that the real ballet world is nothing like that lunacy depicted on screen. We would have throttled such an “artistic director.” I didn’t even care for the choreography, the Black Swan coda was possibly the worst interpretation I’ve ever seen. Possibly the only redeeming work was the costuming and the special effects. Tschaikovsky’s score saved this one from the cutting room floor.
I can’t believe this psychotic abortion won Oscars! Phooey! I nearly threw my popcorn at the screen!
Other horrendomas:
Easy Rider: Acclaimed as an art and countercultural film in the 1960s, it is unwatchable unless one has consumed mass quantities of marijuana. I hadn’t. I fell asleep. Again, the only saving grace was some of the old music.
The Truth about Cats and Dogs: Ridiculous phone sex. The ASPCA should have been called in with that poor dog with roller skates tied to his paws.
The Breakfast Club: Those kids deserve after school detention a la Catholic high school standards.
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off: Again, more Catholic high school detention would be in order here.
Dumb and Dumber: Enough said!
Now pardon me, I have to go find an antacid. Or possibly an antiemetic!
