Either the late 90s were bad for movies, or I saw too many movies back then…or too much bad horror.
IMHO: violence, sugg themes & swearing IS tasteless… End o’sentence.I better not be one of them.
Just make sure you do it in a way that’s not redundant, tasteless, and that your story actually has a tangible plot. -.-;;
i saw it - but i disliked it because they slept together so soon in their relationship… I could kinda see them doing that if they KNEW they were going to die… but that wasn’t the case.
I’m with you, mostly. Fight scenes are sometimes necessary to action movies, though.

Correct. Look at Tale of Two Cities which was made in 1935(?) starring Ronald Coleman and Basil Rathbone. There were fights, battle scenes during the French Revolution, a murder, execution by guillotine and, of course, a love story. These were elements that were needed to tell a great story. Yet violence was not gratuitous nor was it graphic. They did not need to have a sex scene to show that two people were in love or that one character was a lout.

The movie is tongue-in-cheek, campy on purpose and meant to be “lame” yet fun for kids. It was targeted toward kids by DeLaurentis and he made it clear that it was camp, fun, and over-the-top intentionally. The jokes are obviously poking fun at the genre and the comics. Growing up as a kid I just loved watching it. Fun but goofy. The Queen soundtrack is worth the trip! lol But then again, heck, Queen never put out a bad album lol…

It wasn’t bady made, but pure propaganda about an idealistic youth (spiderman dude) learning to be doctor from Michael Cain who runs an orphanage and is also an abortionist. The youth is first appalled when he finds out what the old doctor is doing. But eventually sees the light..

Some of the best times are spent watching bad movies with friends and making fun of them. I can remember one movie, I forget the title, but it was about a vietnam war vet named Bob, who came back to his town and reconnected with old friends. Not all was right with old Bob. He needed to eat people to keep himself from decaying. He wore sunglasses to hide the fact that he was losing bits and pieces. For some reason, none of his friends seemed to notice. And the dialogue was hilarious.
“Manos” was directed by a guy who owned a cement factory in Texas, so I think that says a lot there… But ooh yeah… this film would be unbearable were it not for the MST3K gang having their way with it…Sailor Kensin was the only person on this thread to even mention Manos: The Hands of Fate.
If I had not watched it with MST3K commentary and I was forced to sit through the whole thing, I would have gone crazy. Even with the MST3K commentary I would have gone crazy had I not been watching it with all my brothers, my sister-in-law, my boyfriend, and another brother’s girlfriend, who were all like, “THIS IS SO BAD WHAT THE HECK WERE THEY THINKING?”
It is just so bad for so many reasons.
In fact, anything that MST3K made fun of is considered a very bad movie by everyone’s standards.

I don’t think watching a movie that may contain violence or whatever else is helping Satan to take over us…
