Yeah, this is probably the worst part of the prequels for me. Everything else is bad, but the dialogue just makes it unwatchable.

There’s so many cringe-worthy lines, but I think the worst one has got to be:

"I hate sand. It’s rough and gets everywhere. Not like you. You’re soft…and smooth.’’

No. Just no. Han and Leia had funny banter. They had real chemistry. This was just uncomfortable.

…among them, almost anything by C3PO, especially during the battle in the arena.

The “Line, line, witty repartee, line” thing I noted earlier was especially painful with Obi-wan and Anakin were in that race through the city, but all throughout all three movies it was notable.
 
“The Cold Equations”

Absolutely the worst movie ever made. Based on a great sci-fi short story, the movie trashes the premise and goes in a completely different direction using a theme that’s been done a million times before. If you haven’t read the short story- read it. Don’t. Ever. See. The. Movie. … Don’t Ever See It. It can not be unseen.

Best thing about Star Wars episodes 1-3 is watching the Plinkett reviews of them on Red Letter Media (warning- reviews contain rough language).

(BTW- I think done properly a movie based on the short story would be far more compelling/riveting/interesting than Gravity).

Just watched them. They were hilarious! I don’t think I’ve laughed that hard at a review before.

He actually had some really smart criticism too. Like his point about the light saber battles. I never thought about that before.

Yeah, I learned some things from it, like he says there were a lot of things I couldn’t quite put my finger on, that I didn’t consciously notice. But my brain did.

I didn’t post the link due to the rough language and his schtick with the psychotic persona. Glad you found it and enjoyed it.

Really hit me when he went over the difference between the opening shot of the original Star Wars movie and the opening of the first prequel. So much communicated in the visuals in the one, and the boring dialog between two characters in the other.

Also liked having folks trying to describe the characters- that was hysterical.

Porky’s came out when I was a teen and I never understood why it was popular. Almost didn’t see “Better Off Dead” because I thought it would be the same type of teen directed gratuitous nudity, crude humor kind of thing. FWIW- ‘Better Off Dead’ is nothing along those lines and is actually just really weird humor.

Also agree with you on the three stooges- after I was about 13 I found them to be pretty unwatchable.

Disagree on “A Clockwork Orange” and “2001…”, there are a lot worse movies that have been made. While I wouldn’t re-watch either one I did find them interesting the first go-around.

Haven’t seen the others on your list but I’ve heard them referenced so I’ll take your word for it.

I have a new nominee: Blackhat. SPOILERS AHEAD

I love movies about hackers, cybercrimes, etc. Chris Hemsworth is nice to look at and has done well as other characters. I thought genre+actor= watchable movie. Um. No. I failed to do the math.

Chris Hemworth is miscast.

The audience sees a bad guy sticking something to the good guys’ car. Pretty sure it’s a bomb. Later, three people are in the car and two get out and walk away. I’m like, okay, this is when the car explodes. The two people talk with the car visible in the background. Waiting…I know it’s going to explode. Couple keeps talking. Oh, explode already. EXPLODES Wait. What were they talking about while I was waiting for the care to explode?

Good guys and bad guys moving through a parade in Jakarta in the opposite direction. No one seems annoyed. Bad guys start shooting, not caring as they hit innocent bystanders; good guys at least are avoiding doing that but are killing bad guys in the middle of a parade. Again, no one in the parade or watching it seem bothered by this and the parade goes on.

Most of the good guys in action get killed in the same scene :mad: and the all of the bad guys are killed in a later scene although I particularly had it in for the guy with the hair. I think he was just a thug and if I were in the movie he would have been mine. bang He just annoyed me.

The screenwriter/directer avoid to many details about hacking lest people like me notice the errors, but that’s why I watch movies like this, to pick up tips. 😉 I wanted more dialog about what was going on and how the hackers (all of them) were doing what they were doing. Talk nerdy to me. 🤓

Valley of the Dolls

Beyond the Valley of the Dolls (No, I didn’t learn from the first mistake)

Michael (apparently NOT St. Michael, but a gross angel played by John Travolta)

Platoon (despite a good moment here and there, a 2-hour toothache of a movie for me. Thought it should be renamed Spitoon).

Batman (Too dark for too long. hero way too much stronger than the villain. Despite the action, all the darkness, scene after scene lulled me literally to sleep in the movie. And my dream was better).

Network - maybe I was mad that this B- movie shared the Oscar for '76 with A+ “Rocky”

**All the President’s Men - **🤷 :yawn::sleep: - Hoffman, Redford, Robards (All Star Cast) All time bust. Not scary. Not interesting. They’d have done better playing Candid Camera at a Hollywood party with all those A - list actors than watching them trying to rescue this Humpty Dumpty from the Dempsey Dumpster.

**Wanda Nevada - **What could have been a kids film, tried to hard to justify a “romance” between young teen orphan (or tween) Brooke Shields and 30 something Peter Fonda. A poor version of Lolita. < Another all time stinker - which didn’t even need a GOOD remake.

Return of Billy Jack - the first one had its moments for a low budget exploitation film. So did this one … only many more “bad to forgettable moments”.

**C.C. Ryder - ** Joe Namath tried to make a biker movie and be a movie star. :nope:

Looking For Mr. Goodbar - By movie’s end I was sick of Diane Keaton’s character. Even the ending didn’t help. (I’m cynically joking here btw if you saw this clinker).😉
 
the nicholas cage “left behind” movie was about as bad as it gets imho

I was just asking him to explain what was to me at least unclear wording - it sounds like he meant to say that the two movies split most of the Oscar awards. However as far as I’m concerned, ‘best picture’ is the number one prize and therefore “Rocky” got the better of “Network”.

I know that I can look things up online but when it’s a low-interest thing and I’m asking for someone to clarify a statement that they made, I don’t always do so. Call me lazy if you like.
 
TUSK is getting nominations as the worst movie of 2014. It’s about the Ugly Americans–South American, North American…The hero, a podcaster, constantly mocks and insults everyone. He winds up a prisoner of a walrus fetishist who names his captive “Tusk” after “Tuskegee” something and that’s of course where deadly experimentation on African males took place, Tuskegee University. Got it? The movie is well-written in unveiling all the subtle socially acceptable SEINFELD-esque man’s inhumanity-to-man underlying the gore and torture like an organic offshoot, a grim, unfunny warning to us all to be mindful of small people and small things. Dr. Ewen Cameron, the CIA’s MK ULTRA torture doc from McGill University in Toronto, seems to be caricatured in the character of the cultured Canadian psycho to show Canadians they have a heaping helping of weirdness, too. Here’s an overview of Dr. Ewen Cameron, funded by our tax dollars in medically torturing adults and children. OUR LADY OF AMERICA, BLESS AND PROTECT THE AMERICAS!
