Like I said they’re doing their own thing, NOT following the traditional rules but making it up. I don’t understand why we Catholics are so adverse to following the tradition. Everything needs to be dumbed down  I don’t get it.
Maybe its not about being adverse but just that the process to returning to tradition takes time. I noticed yesterday for the first time we had a full church because of a combined service for a special event. Over 60% of the people there kneel for Consecration.

I do find it odd that Eastern Catholics insist on kneeling for Consecration and Roman Catholics insist on standing. Maybe we should switch parishioners :D:D:D

Ha, Ha, that might work.

I suppose it varies, since at our Byzantine parish we only kneel at the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts (which is only during Great Fast M/W/F or Holy Week M/Tu/W):
  1. Antiphon psalms, the blessing with the censer and the candle, and
  2. when the priest sings during the solemn evening Psalm: “Let my prayer ascend to you like incense, and the lifting up of my hands like an evening sacrifice.” etc.
  3. The great entrance
  4. Communion.

Today being a Sunday in the Nativity fast before the 12th of December means fish, wine and oil are permitted. If it was after 12 December then no fish. If the feast fell on a day other then Sunday, but not Wedneday or Friday then fish, wine and oil would have been permitted. On Wednesday or Friday just wine and oil.

In theByzantine tradition the fast is mitigated, but never completely dispensed.
This is what we follow also in my Russian Byzantine parish.

That’s the only time we do, either.
