I need new prayers to inspire my prayer life. I am looking for things concerning anxiety and trepidation about the past and the future of my life. Maybe like the serenity prayer. Thanks!

I suggest Psalm 50, et al. In fact, a lot of the psalms make great prayers for amending one’s life. God bless.

My Lord Jesus Christ, I love you, make me a saint. Oh Lord your will be done.

Especially when repeated I find this to be a wonderful prayer. Especially with the focus on the last part. 🙂

Another prayer I love is Cardinal Newman’s daily prayer.

May He support us all the day long, till the shadows lengthen and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over, and our work is done. Then in His mercy may He give us a safe lodging, and a holy rest and peace at the last.

The Divine Mercy Chaplet “Jesus, I trust in You”

Try praying before our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament at adoration. When I focus my gaze on our Eucharistic Lord, and offer back to Him the only prayer He taught us - the Lord’s Prayer - it is especially powerful.

Any prayer offered in our Lord’s true presence will enliven your prayer life.

I won’t normally recommend this, but it sounds like you need something to calm you and make you peaceful in your thoughts. So in your case, I am recommending that your read something by Joel Olsteen.

Now I know he is not catholic, and he doesn’t present the full gospel, but he is good about building up a person in a reasurring way. He is a motivator to see the goodness of each one’s worth and is very uplifting in his spirit.

Just be a little watchful about any doctrine he may present. But from what I have heard of him and read, he seems all right.

Well just a thought. (now comes ok corral)

This is one of my favorite prayers, especially when I am anxious about “finding my way”.
MY LORD GOD, I have no idea where I am going. I do not see the road ahead of me. I cannot know for certain where it will end. Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think I am following your will does not mean that I am actually doing so. But I believe that the desire to please you does in fact please you. And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing. I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire. And I know that if I do this you will lead me by the right road, though I may know nothing about it. Therefore I will trust you always though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death. I will not fear, for you are ever with me, and you will never leave me to face my perils alone.

I like the Soul of Christ Sanctify Me prayer, but here are some others. 🙂

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

O give me Samuel’s ear,
The open ear, O Lord,
Alive and quick to hear
Each whisper of Thy Word,
Like him to answer at Thy call,
And to obey Thee first of all. Amen.

HEALING PRAYER AT BEDTIME:

Lord Jesus, through the power
of the Holy Spirit, go back into
my memory as I sleep.

Every hurt that has ever been
done to me, heal that hurt.

Every hurt that I have ever
caused another person, heal that
hurt.

All the relationships that have
been damaged in my whole life
that I am not aware of, heal
those relationships.

But, O Lord, if there is anything
that I need to do,

If I need to go to a person because
he or she is still suffering from my
hand, bring to my awareness that
person. I choose to forgive, and I
ask to be forgiven.

Remove whatever bitterness may
be in my heart, Lord, and fill the
empty spaces with your love.
Thank You Jesus.

Amen.

Faithful Shepherd, feed me
In the pastures green;
Faithful Shepherd, lead me
Where Thy steps are seen.

Hold me fast and guide me
In the narrow way;
So, with Thee beside me,
I shall never stray.

Daily bring me nearer
To the heavenly shore;
May my faith grow clearer.
May I love Thee more!

Hallow every pleasure,
Every gift and pain;
Be Thyself my Treasure.
Though none else I gain.
Amen.

Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer to Thee!
E’en though it be a cross
That raiseth me;
Still all my song shall be,
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer to Thee.
Amen.

Jesus, gentle Shepherd,
Bless Thy lamb to-day;
Keep me in Thy footsteps,
Never let me stray.
Guard me through the daytime.
Every hour, I pray;
Keep my feet from straying
From the narrow way.
Amen.

Jesus, help my eyes to see
All the good Thou sendest me.
Jesus, help my ears to hear
Calls for help from far and near.
Jesus, help my feet to go
In the way that Thou wilt show.
Jesus, help my hands to do
All things loving, kind, and true.
Jesus, may I helpful be,
Growing every day like Thee.
Amen.

Prayer for Faith

Lord, I believe:
I wish to believe in Thee.
Lord, let my faith be full and unreserved,
and let it penetrate my thought,
my way of judging Divine things and human things.
Lord, let my faith be joyful
and give peace and gladness to my spirit,
and dispose it for prayer with God
and conversation with men,
so that the inner bliss of its fortunate possession
may shine forth in sacred and secular conversation.
Lord, let my faith be humble and not presume
to be based on the experience of my thought and of my feeling;
but let it surrender to the testimony of the Holy Spirit,
and not have any better guarantee than in docility to Tradition
and to the authority of the magisterium of the Holy Church.
Amen.

Heavenly Father,
You are intimately aware of the struggle _____ is experiencing -
the pain and the despair.
You know the desire of their heart to be healed of this ___
I ask now for Your healing touch.
I know that You are able and that just like in
Bible times, You can release them from their anxiety.

A Prayer to Redeem Lost Time, by St. Teresa of Avila

O my God! Source of all mercy. I acknowledge Your sovereign power.
While recalling the wasted years that are past, I believe that You, Lord,
can in an instant turn this loss to gain.
Miserable as I am, yet I firmly believe that You can do all things.
Please restore to me the time lost, giving me Your grace,
both now and in the future, that I may appear before You in “wedding garments.”
Amen.

Prayer in Time of Change

Eternal and everliving God,
I am involved in a major change in my life,
and it is quite unsettling.
I know that for us creatures,
change is an indication of life,
but I still find it hard to accept.
Enable me to see your hand in it,
subtly bringing about your plan for me
and enabling me to come closer to You.
Make me appreciate the many good aspects of change
and learn to live with the bad aspects.
Teach me to be pliable and adaptable to any change,
fully aware that once change stops for me,
I will no longer be alive on this earth.
Amen.

Enduring for a Purpose

Almighty God, I pray that thou wilt sustain me
when I may be enduring for a purpose,
and to accomplish it seems beyond my strength.
Renew me with courage, and give me unceasing hope, and
faith that is able to hold out to the end.
Amen.

As a little child relies

As a little child relies
On a care beyond his own;
Knows he’s neither strong nor wise,
Fears to stir a step alone,—
Let us thus with Thee abide
As my Father, Guard, and Guide.
Amen.

God Bless You~

I pray this every day:

** As I arise today,
may the strength of God pilot me,
the power of God uphold me,
the wisdom of God guide me.
May the eye of God look before me,
the ear of God hear me,
the word of God speak for me.
May the hand of God protect me,
the way of God lie before me,
the shield of God defend me,
the host of God save me.
~ St. Patrick**

I also find this hymn/prayer very peaceful. Here is a nice version from You Tube:
