23, almost 24, never married, living with a bunch of education-focused college kids who don’t see marriage in their future, and feelin’ old LOL. I love the idea of one day being a farm-wife and homeschooler, even though I know nothing about farming (but I want to!) and all I could probably teach is sewing, knitting, and cooking…but God’s will be done! I’ve no idea what He wants me to do, but I want to do it…whatever it is šŸ™‚

Also, I’ve thought about the whole ā€œWell, if I’m still single at 30, I’ll just become a nun!ā€, but I’m starting to think as someone else stated. I respect those with that vocation too much to just use that as a ā€œbackupā€ plan. I did promise to become Catholic before I turn 25…buuuut…I somehow don’t think that’s going to happen…especially in this city…

Never Married šŸ™‚ Going to be some day when the time is right, and God willing!

I’m 57 as of this past August, and I never married.

I’ve had friendships with men [the platonic kind], and my best friend is male. In fact, he’s a Catholic priest. He lives overseas, so the only contact i have with him is by mail (snail mail-he doesn’t have email) and the occasional phone call (when I do have my phone on :o ). I think of him as the brother I could have had (he’s the same age as my older sister). I haven’t seen my priest-friend ā€˜face-to-face’ since my last visit to his home country eleven years ago.

Singlehood sometimes ā€˜sucks’, especially when one lives by oneself as I do now. I’m pretty much resigned to the fact that I will be single for whatever is left of my life here on earth. I used to do a lot of traveling (loved going to Europe), but I’m too ā€˜poor’ to do it any more, and besides, it’s such a hassle going through airports in this post-9/11 world.

I do nearly everything alone-live alone, eat alone, sleep alone, go to Mass alone. I can count on the fingers of one hand anything that resembles a ā€˜date’…two of them were blind dates, when I signed up for a local dating service…hey, I felt a little desperate twenty-odd years ago! :o Not for me …guys in my age bracket are either divorced, cheaters on their wives, or have too much ā€˜baggage’.

Better to be alone, IMHO…

Yeah I gave up too and my sister introduced me to a nice guy lately. Too soon to say what will happen but it’s going ok so far though I have a few concerns then again I’m the cautious type by nature and never rush into anything. Being single isn’t so bad either. You don’t have to answer to anyone but God but being alone can get old at times.

In 1980, an elderly lady I knew set me up on a ā€˜blind date’ with the son of a friend of hers. They were both widows, and the guy was the only son. I got very exasperated by her suggestion; I simply exclaimed, ā€˜Mary!’ [that was my friend’s name].

But, to be polite, I went to Mary’s house where the young man was going to meet up with me. I remember he drove a pickup truck, and I had a heck of a time trying to get into the passenger side of the cab wearing a long [well over the knee] skirt. He helped me, like a gentleman.

We ended up going to the movies at a nearby mall. I even recall what we saw: ā€˜Raise The Titanic!’.

Nothing ā€˜happened’. He took me back to Mary’s house after the movie was over, and that was that. Never saw him again after that. Sweet guy, but nothing ā€˜clicked’. I think Mary was disappointed. šŸ˜›

That sounds vaguely familiar. šŸ˜‰

I nearly had whats called a clandestine marriage (a pagan one too) (no priest or official present) which was outlawed as sinful by the church about 1000 years ago. So technically i was never married. I really wanted to marry her but she is a drug addict and a stripper. still she was the love of my life. I decided to go the straight and narrow so instead of following she abandoned me. been single for a year. been praying to st raphael to intercede and hopefully the Lord will send me the right one. I usually go for the bad girls but especially after coming back to the church and becoming a fourth degree knight I want someone who has good catholic values and a big heart. Still probably not ready for anything cause my heart is still broken and ive turned down a few women but i’m not going to pass up on anyone who has good character. please pray for me

Being celibate is great!
Celibacy may be great for some people–for others (yeah, that would be me) it is pure misery. I am 56, never married, no children. My dad died 3 years ago after a horrendous 5-year battle with Alzheimer’s (Alzheimer’s always wins  ), so now it’s just me, my 84-year-old mother, and my cat.

I know a lot of ppl find consolation in their brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews etc–but I am an ā€œonly childā€ so I have no one except some cousins who live 250 miles away and have families of their own.

Yes, I have dated, once even was engaged until I realized he was absolutely the worst man I could ever have chosen, so I broke off the engagement. That’s one of the few
decisions I’ve never regretted!!

Also I am on disability, my family is not rich, and I don’t know what I will do when my beloved mother passes away. :bighanky: I love her dearly, she is my ā€œrockā€ and always has been. My cat is only 2 years old but I know she won’t live forever either. :imsorry:

I have very very few friends–I once had lots of them but I don’t know what happened, I am now virtually a hermit–and I don’t know how I will manage once I’m all alone. I don’t think I could bear losing my mom and my kitty after the terrible loss of my dad. I always thought I would marry and have children and I so wish I had…but it just didn’t happen.

The mere thought of living alone is intolerable to me.

To be honest–I feel absolutely hopeless about my future. :sad_bye:

I’m a never marreid as in never walked the aisle or said I do. I fervently hope one day that to be changed but at 33 it’s not easy to find a woman that matches what I have and always will want.

Sorry you feel like this. I’ll be 49 on the 13th of this month, and I’m still a hermit myself. My father also passed away in 2007. My father was my hero. I do have a large family, 9 of us sibling, they average 3 kid each, so thats like 27 nephews and neices. One was born on the 14th of this month also, he’s my godson to.

The difference between you and I, at leat for now, I don’t mind being single. Sometimes I think, maybe I should get into ministry work, or not. At any rate, I’ll be praying for you and your moma.

God bless

Never married but I’m praying that God will help me meet a lady who is catholic and open to life!

BTW, if you’re reading this and live in western Canada… šŸ™‚

Sorry you feel like this.
Well, how is she supposed to feel?

I am 29…soon turning 30!!! I have been single for almost 6 years. Really depressing…I would never wish any one to be single. It is pure agony and I have prayed for almost 6 years for my future husband. I have tried everything! I don’t know what else to do…I am so helpless and alone. I have tried to have friends set me up and tried talking to people where ever I go. But nothing…not even a date or someone interested in me.

Never married. Been praying forever. I had some weird experiences with demons giving me this false connection with someone. Had to talk to priest about it and deliverance prayers etc. It really upsets me bc it can seem like God’s will, demons are smarter than we are.
Jesus is removing the bad spirits now thx to deliverance prayers from priests. I am tired though; why do I pray to be married to fulfill this vocation I’m called to and pray for my future husband and family and all that happens is heartbreak and then other ppl I know don’t even pray or barely and just stumble across their mate? It’s so incredibly frustrating. I feel like I’m Job most days. And people say I’m very beautiful smart cool etc. I still feel like a leper…since I seem to repel everyone with no explanation.

24, single, not liking it as much as I hoped I would. Want to get married someday but meeting Catholic women is difficult for me.

I hope it improves, but sometimes it’s hard, especially when huge numbers of my peers are married and engaged…really makes you feel really left behind.
