He’s shy so that makes it different and by shy I mean really shy. I don’t know whether that means anything but I am going to ask him out instead of both of us hinting. I know he does have other issues going on so I’ll see what happens but I do get scared. He fits what I want and the idea of either being alone or having to settle for a man who isn’t what I want morally horrifies me.
Well best of luck on that I’ve known it to work for some but honestly I want a guy who will lead the relationship if he can’t step up to ask someone out I would be afraid that would set a bad tone for the relationship with me doing all the work. Been there done that before.

34.2555 and never married. Never had a girlfriend (not sure I believe in that anyway). Looking, staying open, and praying for a long, long time. God has told me numerous times that there is someone out there for me. Just trying my best to do His will!

Enjoy at times being single but like many here have had my difficulties.

Technical engineer by day, youth minister by night

Looking for a suitable helpmate for building up the Kingdom! 🙂 Los Angeles area?

Btw. Take joy in God’s commandments and He will answer your heart’s desire. Ps ??? (Something like that, it is on my white board back home)

For me I’m a natural leader so I could handle men who were more submissive as I think he is. I have a wait and see approach because it’s not like I have a lot of choices so my opinion is the timing is wrong or something else.

Signing in again since the last time I posted here was 3 years ago. Still single and looking. 29 almost 30.

I just noticed your “Catholic but…” in your religion.

I’m curious as to what that means.

I was having some trouble accepting some things coming from a protestant background and I just have not changed my religion to Catholic yet is all

Find your delight in the LORD
who will give you your heart’s desire. Ps 37:4

Someone wrote earlier “how do singles find peace”. Personally, it is because the Lord said one day I would have a spouse. He has actually told me a number of times, forgive me lord that I would have asked or needed to be reminded so many times. What he says is trustworthy and not just because it says so in the bible but because of experience.

In His word you find peace. That is why the above verse is on my white board at home, it reminds me that God way is the only way and He gives it so that we may have Life… life more abundantly!

Trust in His word and find peace.

God be with you,
John 🙂

I don’t know about you but my life is quite peaceful. I have a daughter whom I adore, 3 horses, a job, a close family that loves me, and I am also working towards my RN. Granted a boyfriend or husband would be a welcome addition but any guy not willing to lovingly accept what I already have is not the guy for me.

I think once i get busy i won’t feel, so bad about being single.

The way I understand God and the desires of man is this: your desire for union in marriage is a natural desire, born of the fact that you are a human being, rather than a desire that God instilled in you at the moment he created your soul. Those who are called to religious life still have that desire for union in marriage as human beings, but feel a higher calling to union with God.

Pain and suffering and loneliness can become all-consuming if we let them. I look at marriages and it appears that many people mistake the desire for union with God, as the desire for marriage/union with man. They enter marriage expecting to feel a fulfillment that is not possible in human relationships. I don’t know how many friends I have who didn’t marry until their 30s or later, only to be surprised that they don’t really feel much differently inside, but that their lives are just harder and more complicated.

It is tremendously hard and frustrating to feel like the start of your life is delayed and delayed through a lack of vocation. But as Mother Teresa put it so eloquently, “God doesn’t ask us to be successful, he just asks us to be faithful”. Work with what you have right now in this moment.

Caroline723,

Thanks so much for putting words to what I’ve been thinking!

Hi all,

I am a never married person as well. I used to struggle with this fact but I think I have gained a sense of peace over the years.

I have started a website for single people to find support and discuss issues important to them. For anyone wishing to check it out I posted the website url in my profile. It is called singletosingleonline.blogspot.com. It is meant to be an encouraging blog for singles to discover how to live their life in the best way possible.

I agree with you. Shyness is an excuse and men admit that when they want something, they go for it. I don’t think a woman should ask a guy out, but that’s just my opinion. She may always have to be the “leader” in the relationship. Pray to the Holy Spirit to give this guy the courage to ask you out if it’s God’s will.

I personally feel a lot more peaceful about it, although I know the holidays are coming and it will get tough. God has not revealed whether marriage or singleness is His will for me, but I’m trying to follow Him daily and not run ahead. Whatever He has planned will be a surprise, I’m sure! 😃

Strangely he asked me out not long ago today. A sign? we’ll see.

Thanks I think things will be better. Unfortunately it looks like the event will be cancelled today due to rain but there’s always another time and him asking me is a sign.

Never married, but I would so love to be. I will make a wonderful wife if I do say so myself:p

Never married, probably never will. I’m 52 and marriage was never really on my ‘to do’ list. Love attending weddings though!
