Do you realise there is no such teaching of heresy called ‘papolatry’? It is derived from the Protestant definition of papistry and goes in hand with their coining of ‘mariolatry’. They reject that the authority given to the Pope and the Mother of Jesus , with the guaranteed protection of the Holy Spirit, is real.
uh … ya I did know that and no I wasn’t accusing anyone of teaching the heresy of papolatry - I don’t think you understand what I am saying however .

no worries , good luck and bye for now

In what capacity was your accusation of papolatry used if not the serious original Protestant indictment?

The core problem here is that there are those who think that the pope is always right. They have an exaggerated view of papal infallibility.

There is also an astonishing amount of tolerance in these fora for calling princes of the Church like Cardinal Burke “traitors” and similar offensive and utterly inappropriate labels.

God you guys are making my head hurt. No one us denying the authority of the Pope! No one is denying that Jews MAY be saved! Lord Jesus Christ, you guys make a mountain out of a mole hill. This document only clarifies doctrine and dogma when Pope Francis would rather say nothing all day. Is it so hard to believe that a Pope can be in error or at least slightly mistaken!?

Amoris laetitia (The Joy of Love, Post Synodal Papal exhortation) and Laudato si’ (Praise be to You - On the Care of our Common Home - Encyclical) are part of the deposit of faith requiring the Catholic faithfuls obedience and acceptance. Your rejection of these documents is the anomaly.

Funny, scanning my posts I don’t see any “rejection” of those documents.

Further, not every papal document requires “obedience” and “acceptance” without question. The pope isn’t really a fan of air conditioning. Doesn’t mean every faithful Catholic must agree with him.

That makes life a lot easier for a lot of people wouldn’t you agree?

Just had a quick scan of the recent Papal documents without success. Which official document mentioned air conditioning?

Several canonists (including the “traitor” Cardinal Burke) have illustrated quite cogently how “Amoris Laetitia” is not magisterial, for example.

“Amoris Laetitia” is a highly problematic document in that it cannot easily be reconciled with perennial Church teaching. The pope has refused to clarify the document (his privilege). Doubtful laws do not bind (basic Catholic jurisprudence).

I agree with Cardinal Burke and others…it is not magisterial.

PS, it is also a very badly written document.

When has Cardinal Burke said it is not magisterial? Cite him. Quote him.

A lot of people on this site have a thing about demanding citations as if other posters were their research assistants.

Don’t see you criticizing posters who referred to princes as “traitors.”
