Woodward is only one of the most respected journalists of the last half century, so clearly he must be a fraud…

Don’t forget our thriving robust economy…seems Trump brought that back to life

Mark Felt denied being Deep Throat for years.
Because Mark Felt, that means Jame Mattis and John Kelly are also lying? I’m not sure that follows. And why would Mattis or Kelly lie, it’s not like they need a government job. Those guys could write their own tickets anywhere.
I am not aware, and Google is not returning anything. Could you link me to sources?

So you like books filled with gossip and unverified facts?

That is funny. He is celebrated for his part in Watergate otherwise he would probably
just be another journalist. The success of the movie has a lot to do with his celebrity
too.

Woodward has a history of making up fake interviews and fake sources,
To which TheLittleLady replied:

And so you said:
This is current, not historical.
This is historical, but it is just one person’s denial of what Woodward wrote.
This is just a tweet, and it just references the previous one denial.

All told, it does not look like you have established a clear history of Woodward making up fake interviews. All it shows is that Woodward writes about controversial subjects and that ruffles a few feathers.

Did the book mention: As of July 12, Trump has successfully appointed 43 judges, including one Supreme Court justice, 22 appeals court judges and 20 district judges.

Not gossipy enough.

You do know that the people quoted by name in the book have largely denied the quotes attributed to them, right?
This is typical response as whistle-blowers fear what could happen to them, plus they provide information usually under promises of anonymity. We have seen this happen time and time again with many if not most whistle-blowers who have worked for different presidents.

The reality is that if anyone really reads and watches the news, most of Woodward’s assertions are clearly not new news at all. But if one only watches the Fox, as I do at times, they would not likely know much of anything negative about their staunch supporter, Donald J. Trump. When even so many current and former Republicans, many of which say they voted for Trump, now lash out against him, there’s a very serious problem that so many others are in denial about.

It is clear that Trump has very serious mental and moral issues, and that was even clear going back to the campaign-- and even before that coming from people who knew him then, such as his two co-authors that spent gobs of time with him. Ever hear them describe Trump?

BTW, read carefully the “denials” as sometimes the choice of words may tip off something. For example, I say “I never wrote that…”, it’s possible I may have dictated it to a ghost-writer who in turn wrote it. There’s all sorts of language usage, such as Bill’s “definition” of “sin”, that can be used to mislead the listener.

Thanks. As you said, not a history, simply one denial by a grieving widow.

I was referring to people that are quoted by name, such as Mattis and Kelly. They’ve forcefully denied the quotes Woodward attributes to them, and it’s not like they need a government job. They’re both retired 4-stars with very comfortable pensions who would be very much in demand in the private sector.

It’s a little bit more than “a grieving widow”. At the time Woodward claims to have interviewed former CIA Director Bill Casey for his book “Veil”, Casey was in a coma on his deathbed, and under 24 hour guard.

If this is supposed to be proof that Kelly and Mattis have no incentive to deny, that is a fail. Even if they are well off and in demand, they could still care about their reputation. They might deny the statements just to avoid the embarrassment of having said those things.

And as for Casey being in a coma at the time if the interview, so you say. Do you know for a fact the exact date on which the interview occurred?

And what would you expect them to say, especially since some of them feel that they are keeping the Donald from completely flying off the hook? The author(s) of the NYT piece made that quite clear, namely that Trump is “unhinged” and “amoral”, so some of his advisers have had to intervene to try and stop him from doing what could be irreparable damage. And as I said before, this is hardly new news.

We even saw how unhinged he could get prior to the election and even right after the election with his issue on the crowd size during his inauguration as compared to Obama’s. We know when being prepped for one of the debates with Hillary he asked his military adviser three times, according to former Representative Joe Scarborough (R-- Fl), that since we have nuclear weapons why aren’t we using them? He has threatened war more than once.

He is dangerous.

Woodward has a stellar reputation, plus we know he heavily documents his books, so it’s all but impossible for me to imagine him fabricating testimony. I had a chance to talk with him back in the late 80’s after he gave a speech, and he’s an impressive figure, let me tell ya.

So, for some, I guess the question is this: Whom do you trust more to tell the truth: Trump or Woodward? I know who my money’s on.

It would damage their reputation with the inbred hillbillies who voted for Trump, but, who gives a rip about them? It would enhance it among the the smart set in Washington and New York, whose opinions really matter.
And what would you expect them to say, especially since some of them feel that they are keeping the Donald from completely flying off the hook? T
So you’re saying that James “Mad Dog” Mattis, a former Marine Corps Commandant, doesn’t have the courage to publicly stand up to Trump? That he’s scared of Trump? That he’d undermine the Constitution that he swore to uphold on numerous occasions? That he would violate his Oath of Service? Really?

Since Metis1 didn’t say any of those things, your post makes no sense at all. Maybe time for a break.
