Okay… I am not a prude here, but this add strikes my wife and me as something very close to soft porn. I am tired of the in-your-face sexuality at every turn–especially in regards to kids who see these commercials. Anyone else feeling the same way, and, if so, what are you doing about it? I am thinking about writing some letters, but the whole issue just irritates me.

Haven’t seen this one, but I remember 2 commercials from Carls Jr. that cause a ruckus about a year ago. The first was a woman riding a mechanical bull while eating a burger, very sexual if not exactly revealing. The second was an ad for their breakfast menu which advertised variety “For guys who don’t want to wake up to the same thing every morning”, which a lot of us took as an obvious slam against monogomous marriage.

Finally, last I heard Hugh Hefner had been hired by the company as official spokesperson. I was boycotting the chain for a while, but it seemed they pulled their commercials and I hadn’t heard anything about Hefner so I started eating there again. Looks like it’s time to start the boycott back up.

A woman with a nice body in a swimsuit, washing a car while eating a hamburger does not bother me…

Commercials for erectile dysfunction do bother me…

In any event, the on/off button on my TV still works.

This ad really upset me as well. I sent an e-mail to Carls Jr. saying I would never again eat at their restaurants because of this.

Not only is the ad upsetting, but when it has been run. It was run on Fox during Star Wars episode two (which you know children were watching); and during American Idol (also lots of kids watching).

My next step is to e-mail Fox, although rarely watch them anyway, to let them know how irresponsible this is. I encourage all of you to do the same.

By the way, if you don’t think the ad is offensive, how would you feel if Mary, Joseph, and Jesus were sitting on the couch watching it with you? May give you a different perspective??!!

On the positive side, at least Paris Hilton has upgraded from doing “Hardcore” to “Softcore” 😃

Damn if she didnt make that burger seem so tastey. 😛

What are Carls Jr. anyway? Is it a chain in another area of the country?

That’s a good point… It might not bother me as much if it were only on late at night on some obscure television channel, but this commercial is being run during times when our kids can’t help but catch it. So, to the earlier comment about the off switch, it is less on how offensive we may find it personally and more to the concern as to the potential damage it does to the younger viewer. Where is society going to stop in the sexualization of our children? I agree that it’s high time to draw a line in the sand on this sort of stuff…

It’s a burger chain. I think they are associated with Hardees…

Do you guys know where Paris Hilton went to high school? It gives me hives just to think about it.

With THAT figure I doubt she would EAT such a burger, OR she binges and purges.

I haven’t seen that one yet, but the ones with Clairol Herbal Essence shampoo? Whoa!

I’m no prude either, but I didn’t want my children seeing such an obviously… ummm… “ecstatic” experience in the shower.

Over a shampoo?

Uhhhh… shampoo won’t do that for ya, kids.

We quit buying that shampoo years ago and wrote to the company to complain about its soft porn, “Yes, YES, YES!” shower commercials, but it didn’t do any good - ten years later, they’re still around. Just another round in the daily bombardment.

I saw this commercial. It’s totally filthy. It makes the old commercial with the woman on the mechanical bull look clean. Of course it comes as no surprise. Television just keeps getting worse and worse.

Have you ever heard Paris Hilton talk??? I doubt she went to elementary school even. In canada, we don’t have Carl’s Jr. or Hardees, so i haven’t seen the commercial. For us, it’s on one of those obscure channels that no one watches anyway.

For those of you who are making light of the ad, for shame! Honestly, there are men who suffer with porn addiction, and having such an ad thrown in their face is temptation. Don’t give me the typical, “Well, change the channel” line. It’s not like TV stations announce when certain ads will run.

The ad is soft porn. They actually showed it on our evening news yesterday (no warning, they just showed it!), and my teenage son was totally embarassed.

If you haven’t seen the ad, it shows a scanty-bathing-suit-clad Paris washing a car with a hose, getting all lathered up, making come-hither expressions, and pointing the hose suggestively (and much more, but you get where this is heading, I am sure). The ad does not belong on regular TV channels, nor any time before 10 pm, and especially not during news broadcasts without any warning.

Its sole purpose is to titillate. The hamburger shows up only at the end of the commercial.

Now that is just disgusting. In my experience, fast-food hamburgers have less to do with arousal than they do with indigestion. But usually I have to eat the thing before I get the nausea, not just watch the commercial.

If Carl’s Jr. was so intent on proving that it was just designed to make guys hungry, why did they need a statuesque model in a (pardon the reference) S&M swimsuit to do it? I get the impression it’s not a burger that the guys would get hungry for.

Wherever Paris Hilton went to high school, I’m guessing she didn’t go there for long.

I saw the commercial (it’s available from the Carl’s Jr. website). It is, in a word, revolting.
