Put the Gyms side by side! I’m gonna specialize in Water Pokemon 😊

How dare you associate the poor misunderstood dark type with fake Mexican food!

Define “Geeky”?

I’m a science, tech, firearms, and law guy. Looks over at the new Sig 1911 in 10mm Auto picked up today

Does that make me a geek?

It’s like a socially awkward nerd. And unless you’re socially awkward you’re not a geek

My son is a devout Catholic and an engineer; can’t get much geekier than that. What’s wrong with that. He and his generation come up with some “interesting” things for the good of his parish: let’s write an app so people can donate easier, let’s convert a vending machine to sell votive candles to raise money to aid our poorer members.

just because your son is an engineer doesn’t mean he socially awkward per se

i’m not against nerdy things. i’m against cringe-worthy social skills

I’m not sure what kind of teen you were, but most have “cringe-worthy social skills” It’s part of being a teen…and many like to find people to relate to in the media who are like them.

Thank you. I must have misinterpreted the terminology. I see much variability in recent generations. Perhaps it is more visible with less interpersonal interactions.

So…if they were to emulate the youtube/instagram stars…what would be the tangible benefit?

I guess I just don’t get why one would care enough about another stranger’s perceived personality traits.

I’ve been the same thing; it is not automatically “geeky”.

“Geeky” in the sense it’s being used in this thread discussion implies a significant lack of social skills, not just that you like Catholicism and science.

I guess that is the problem with such terms. Different meanings for various people and locations.

Look up the Little Rascals Day Care scandal. Edenton, NC was the next town over from me.

One of the women in that (her name was Betsy or Betty) was a granddaughter of one of the old guard of my Methodist Church.

I think about that now and find it surreal that it was the national news that it was. And it NEVER happened. Ruined countless lives as well.
