Remember Liberals, Leftist, Corporatist and Socialist are a Command and Control philosophy and they are simply using this as a way to control you and your family while generating billions of dollars for their families. Your being manipulated and had.
The same can be said of the Conservative Right actually. They give Corporations and the wealthy big tax breaks and almost always support their policies. Regardless of what party you Americans vote for, you’re legislation ultimately comes from Corporations and the rich. Stop looking to the Right to save you from the Left; having a few good policies that you might agree with doesn’t mitigate the fact that the Right is just as corrupt.

It’s about jobs. The country is much better off when people are working and earning real wages.

Investment is needed to create jobs. The wealthy have the dollars to invest. The alternative is to let government invest in jobs and we can see how that worked out. 😦

Now let’s see who pays taxes:

Only The Rich Pay Taxes****Top 50% of Wage Earners Pay 96.03% of Income Taxes

http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/me...96_09__of_income_taxes.Par.0008.ImageFile.jpg

The top 1% is paying more than ten times the federal income taxes than the bottom 50%!

Now let’s look at a couple of options.

Say you gave those rich taxpayers tax incentives to create jobs. Well now you have the transfer of wealth, but now you have people working for the wage instead of collecting benefits. The dems support the transfer of wealth in ways that are disincentives to work.

If you google globle warming and the Sun this shows you evidence about the Activity of the Sun getting hotter.
Then google globle warming and the bible: In Reverlation you read about one of the Angels
Pouring its bowl on the sun Causeing it to get hotter to Scorch man.

If you google globle warming and the Sun this shows you evidence about the Activity of the Sun getting hotter.
You are so right, which makes our contribution to GW all the more serious. Without our GHG contributions, the sun would just keep getting hotter until in about a billion years from now all life on earth would cease to exist, and in a few more billion years the sun itself would explode.

Now we are forcing a human-enhanced warming that may push the climate into runaway conditions as on Venus, and possibly end all life on earth a billion years ahead of schedule (see esp. pg. 24 of columbia.edu/~jeh1/2008/AGUBjerknes_20081217.pdf)

I suppose there will be a hell for people who refuse to mitigate AGW, who insist on living profligate and inefficient lives, who insist on killing people through local and regional pollution, who insist in using up finite resources lickity-split, like oil, on which our entire economy and food system are based (ever heard of “peak oil”?), throwing us into collapse, destruction, and death. They’ll probably end up there with the abortionists and serial killers. But at least they will finally find a place that is very very hot and polluted, as they so dearly love it.

Note that the video on which this discussion is based is produced by people who think the Pope and bishops are rotten jerks, and no one should listen to them. I ask, why don’t they just leave the Catholic Church and find one more amenable to their tastes. Why should we even be discussing something some apostate Catholics, who hate Church teaching, are saying. One could just turn into the Devil’s channel & listen there instead, if one really wants to hear this type of anti-Church rhetoric.

It’s about jobs. The country is much better off when people are working and earning real wages.
Don’t know what this has to do with AGW and related problems (such as peak oil & pollution), except that if we seek 1st the kingdom of God and its righteousness by doing right by the environment and our fellow humans and other living creatures, all will be added unto us, including good jobs, righteous productivity, and sustenance.

As it is, we are committed to destroying our life-support systems; without food, potable water, healthy air, and such, jobs don’t mean a darn thing. What are we going to work for if not things that keep us alive – gold and diamonds (can’t eat those), paper money or bank accounts & stocks based on the financial pyramid scheme? It seems people want total collapse – so that’s what they’re getting. Ask, and you shall receive.

Since humanity (if you could call it that) is so committed to destroying life on earth, the best bet would be to start working for real – getting off the grid, growing our own food, making friends, establishing local, prayerful & hard-working communities, etc. (Are such communities committed to sustaining life going to select members who have refused to do their part and be helpful over those who are doing their part?)

Actually the title is false because the rich pay less of their disposable income on taxes than the rest of the population. Its nice to pander to the rich as if they care about us, but the facts are that the rich are taking bigger and bigger pieces of the pie and real wages have been dropping from the 70’s.

The top-earning 20 percent of Americans – those making more than $100,000 each year – received 49.4 percent of all income generated in the U.S., compared with the 3.4 percent earned by those below the poverty line, according to the newly released Census figures. That ratio of 14.5-to-1 was an increase from 13.6 in 2008 and nearly double a low of 7.69 in 1968.

A different measure, the international Gini index, found U.S. income inequality at its highest level since the Census Bureau began tracking household income in 1967. The U.S. also has the greatest disparity among Western industrialized nations.

washingtonindependent.com/98881/income-gap-yawns-to-widest-ever-level-in-2009

The rich generally don’t care if the factory closes in your town or if your kid can’t get a job, they are just worried about the quality of shrimp at their next swaray .

Peace

While you worry about how to steal more of their money. I’ll take the rich, thanks.

Actually I worry about them stealing more of your money, unless of course you are one of those that helped steal the original trillions and then got it back in the bailouts of the banks and Goldman Sachs etc.

Or maybe I am totally wrong and the rich are really concerned with the least. What do you think?

I don’t think charity is limited to the least or the most (financially able). Being poor is not necessarily a virtue, and being rich is not necessarily miserly. But taking money from anyone without their will, is a sin. Its stealing, coveting etc.

Actually taxing people is not a sin as Jesus said about giving to Caesar what is Caesar’s.

And if people don’t want to be taxed by our government, they can move and refuse to do business here.

It’s not the left, it’s science! It’s in the textbooks now. I’m a grad student studying Geography & Environmental Studies.

For every documentary to prove one way, there will be another to prove the other. We gotta pick up the books ourselves and check up on the academic articles and data.

I recomment Christopherson’s “Elemental Geosystems” 👍
It’s not a textbook on climate change, but it’s got some great info on it. Very interesting, for a textbook!
Your response indicates that there actually is NOT one universal truth. How absolutely, refreshingly, deliciously relativist of you!

I didn’t say taxing was a sin, I said stealing was a sin. And when the taxes take the form of confiscatory rates on “the rich” in order to support “the poor”, then those taxes are unjust. I believe it has been gradual since income taxes were established, but from a relatively benign amount of taxes on income, we are now taxed to death and with little to show for each dollar.
More importantly, taking our grandchildren into impossible debt to fund current entitlements is even more than taxation, it is theft of the future blood sweat and tears of future generations. Can you say “without representation”?

You need to do some reading on historical tax rates in the US, the highest top tax was under Eisenhower and Obama has reduced taxes for most Americans.

Therefore your portrayal of the tax trend as being gradually up is wrong, which makes your stated belief about taxes wrong.

Its easy to throw out conclusions without the facts to back them up, you are new here, just put a little more effort into getting the facts correct and your posts will be more believable.

Please try to refrain from telling me what I need to do. I am well aware that there have been times when the marginal federal tax rate was much higher. I am speaking of the long term trend of total taxes, including the reduction of allowable deductions and the entry of state taxes, local taxes, sales taxes, estate taxes, medicare, social security, license fees, alcohol and tobacco, franchise taxes, etc. etc. etc. Oh, and lets include the tax on tanning and the inclusion of company paid medical insurance as imputed income.
Just for an example, I pay way more ad valorem taxes on my home than my combined insurance and mortgage. So much more, that I may not be able to keep it, now that I am retired.

Take your bleeding heart elsewhere, or use your own money.

Please tell me what taxes Obama has reduced for ANYONE except perhaps those who do not pay taxes at all. (being as I’m new here and obviously ignorant)

Oh, I apologize, I just noticed you have 10% more posts than I have. I guess I better stop posting right away and start reading about those Obama tax cuts.

What do taxes have to do with global warming, my friends?

Oh yeah, I forgot, we are heavily subsidizing & giving tax breaks to fossil fuels. Which means we’re subsidizing the killing of people through all sorts of fossil fuel harms from local ground, water, and air pollution, to regional acid rain to ocean acidification, to the plethora of harms from global warming.

On April 15th we paid (thru the nose) to kill people. We’re paying to kill off life on planet earth. Turns my stomach to think of it.

We desperately need a GREEN TEA PARTY.

We need to be like H.D. Thoreau, who refused to pay taxes, because they were being used to send escaped slaves back to the South, and he went to jail for it.

Somone has got to stand up against this government death machine.

My read of Jesus’ statement was to quell a trick question about whether people should give to God or Caesar. I never interpretted that as a Divine endorsement of taxation.

If you were aware that your original post was wrong, why would you post it?

If your property taxes are more than your mortgage and insurance, that means you probably have a low mortgage, good for you.

And if that means you can’t afford to stay in your home, that means your income puts you as one receiving the tax breaks from Obama, you don’t have to worry about the taxes on company paid insurance since you are becoming retired.( those taxes are on the value of insurance provided to employees in excess of certain limits, for instance the cost of the first 50K in life insurance is tax free, the rest of the cost of buying the insurance is imputed as being “income”)

I guess you are going to refuse to accept the social security payments from the government on principal since you don’t want those remaining in the work force to have to pay for you. Unless of course you don’t have social security because you are receiving a government pension from a source that precluded receiving SS.

As for the taxes on cigarettes etc. , you don’t have to worry about me bleeding for you .

Bet you also know that the states that tend to receive more federal spending dollars than they pay in taxes are the ones whose voters oppose most of the federal programs, even though they seem to benefit the most from them.

BTW, I really wasn’t trying to tell you what to do, I just thought it was a gentler and more polite way of asking you to make factual posts.

Peace
