New inquisition?

I know Catholic history. I also know what the perception of the public is. Like it or not, fair or unfair, this term, this name carries a lot of baggage with it, and would be a completely counter productive name to use for anything.

Yes a dedicated effort to inform the parishoner’s and have them bring in others they know to be lapsed. But don’t treat it like an attempt to further alienate our brother’s, however lapsed they may be!

So here is my question. How can he avoid the issue of celibacy and the same time state that homosexuals do not need to be celibate?

As to the other article, comparing gay marriage to interracial marriage is also not saying the homosexuals do not need to be celibate. There are several points of comparison.
 
He doesn’t state that in his book. He has said this on another occasion.
 
I am curious to see if there is any substance to this claim, or how exactly it is worded. This whole thing started over the idea of an inquisition. I would hope we all agree at least that any inquiry needs to be just and not based on hearsay.

Father Martin is Editor at Large at America Magazine. Priests don’t make millions for anybody. They can be in charge of projects that bring in millions of dollars in donations but that’s it. If the statements about Father Martin are true then he does not accurately represent Church teaching. And if the statement about women in the Church is true then he is definitely a supporter of women priests. However, regardless of his position in the Church, he will be corrected privately with little fanfare. Inquisition is an agitator’s word. Totally inappropriate.

If someone is sinning, you have a duty as a Catholic to admonish them.
 
Again, we see the reminder to look upon someone you admonish as a “brother” and not an “enemy.” Sometimes it is easy to see certain sinners inside and outside the Church as “enemies” and we make it our mission to “correct” them. We do not embark on our mission in a spirit of fraternal charity, but we do so as if we were going to war. In this regard, our primary mission is to humiliate the other person to the point that they gravel back to the Church and then we remain victorious. If they do not repent, we scoff at them, belittle them and show them the door.

I’m always fascinated by those who always think today’s state of the church is much worse than it’s ever been before. Clearly, we need to do some reading on history…

At one time, over half the church – even bishops – thought Christ was less than God.

Let’s ponder this a moment.

If God graces us with freedom - the freedom even to reject Him; if He granted that freedom to His chosen people; if He granted the freedom to His chosen people and the Romans to reject, torture and put His Only Begotten Son to death, are we to reject God by rejecting His gift of freedom?

One huge mistake that many humans make is to be more upset over some injustice than the victim of that injustice is.

Ponder that.
